    Pre-op food tracking

I prefer an app, prior to surgery I was using My Fitness Pal for years, but after surgery switched to Baritastic. But I think online may help you more if they are trying to see how many calories you are consuming etc
  3. I love the idea! I have clothes in my closet up to 3 sizes down in jeans and 4 sizes down in tops. Its only been 3.5 months and I'm almost at the smallest size in tops ( I think I should be able to wear them comfortably in a month or so) but in the jeans I was an 18 and barely fit on the 14 and the 16 is loose. Your clothes will fit differently even if they are the same size you were before. I will wait at least a month after surgery to buy something to incentivize you especially if you have clothes that will fit in the meantime. I do shop here and there (cheap clothes) because I believe I do better when I wear clothes that fit me better and project some confidence. I have bought stuff in a smaller size with the idea of fitting by month 6, but somehow they fit even if the weight on the scale hasn't shift much.
  4. You should call your surgeon to make sure. I was able to swallow pills right away and was given Tylenol 3, bp medication while in the hospital with a sip of water. I wasn't allowed to start vitamins till 30 days after but I was taking the omeprazole, and ursodiol as soon as I was discharged.

  6. Sorry you are going through this but as @Sigh said, you did this for you so pay no mind to them. If you do not want to keep talking about your weight loss just politely say it is not up for discussion. Stay focused on you and your journey!
  7. I had chili, avocados, hummus, scrambled eggs, egg bites, thickened soup, refried beans, yogurt, cottage cheese etc. The stage lasted about 10 days for me and they went fast, one recipe will last you a while since you are eating slow and testing your stomach.

    Working out

I was encouraged to walk the first 6 weeks post op starting with 15min and building up to 30min to 1hr (granted I was not consistent), I just started doing strength training at almost 3.5 months post op

    Restarting Vitamins

I started 4 weeks post op as suggested by my surgeon. I did not do chewable and was fine with the capsules. I was given my BP medicine while in the hospital in pill form with a sip of water, pain meds etc and started an acid blocker the next day. I had ordered free samples from a few websites prior to surgery and chewables made me nauseous so I knew before hand they were a no go

    Length of liquid diet Post-op

I was on clear liquids post op day 1 and 2, then 12 days or so in full liquids, then pureed/soft for 2 weeks, so once I had hit the month I could eat regular textured food. I was self pay in the US with virtual meetings. My sister was with insurance, in person meetings, weighted about 70lbs less and she was on liquids for 4 weeks, because that was her plan. November 2022 Surgery Buddies

Hello!! I finally got to starting my exercise routine and boy does everything hurt 😂 I'm back on track with my fluids and protein. I'm sort of meal prepping since I'm an accountant and have tax deadlines this week and want to make sure I do not skip meals. I had a doctor's appointment yesterday with my primary, my BP is down a lot, she still doesn't want to remove the pills but agreed that I can take half if my BP is above a certain number in the afternoon, and in 3 months we can see about taking it a couple times a week until I reach goal to remove, she will feel comfortable if I was in the 150s, a little less than goal but maybe it is possible who knows. Hope everyone is doing well and everyday closer to your goal!

    Tips for pre-op diet?

How are you doing? Have you tried the unflavored protein from Isopure? I sometimes add that to the prepared protein shake to double the protein and have to drink less of it.
  13. Everyone loses weight differently, for me it is first in my face/neck and waist, so it is easier for people to tell. I was told I was losing weight 1 week post op, and I had lost about 15lbs at that point, but I also retain a lot of water. I also believe that those that see you more often will take longer to tell you about your weight loss. I'm 3.5 months post op and last week my husband asked me if I'm losing weight lol. Just hang in there, keep doing what you're doing, and things will move in the right direction.

    Food Boredom

Thank you Arabesque, I'm actually back on track, I was taking care of my mother-in-law who was visiting and was hospitalized while here, and another family member who was visiting, but they are both gone this week. I went back to meal prepping for myself and cooking 3x a week enough for it to last the others a couple of days and put myself in the front line, not going down that rabbit hole again.

    Stall?

Check with your team, we were told at 3 months we should be consuming around 800 calories Sent from my SM-G960U1 using BariatricPal mobile app
  16. I agree on holding off until the latest day to order. Even losing to a size you have been before, your body composition can change, and you can lose more inches here and there.

Tea actually does satisfy some cravings

I'm not a tea person but have found it does help when I eat an early dinner and feel the urge to eat but I'm not really hungry or is close to bedtime. I found I enjoy lavender tea.

    Medication for goute

I would say speak to your team. We were told to avoid NSAIDs since our stomachs are smaller and the risk of ulcers higher, however if we were prescribed it we are allowed to take it for a period of time.

    25 gram Protein yogurt: Ratio

Thanks for sharing, I was doing regular Greek or Oikos triple Zero, but these have 10g more protein which can come in handy when on the road.

    November 2022 surgery support!

Hope everyone is doing well. I’m officially 3 months and almost a week out of surgery and 60 pound down since first thinking about WLS and that puts me at 50% weight loss from what I put as my goal weight. Had my 3month appointment last week. We went over calorie goals, macro distribution, any issues we are having and learning curves. We went over goal weight and the RN said that most of the patients say they have 20-30lbs to go on the 6-month appointment and during that appointment is when we go over the goal weight we should be aiming for and what we need to change to reach that. I should be able to get back on track with protein, fluids and exercise this week. I’m going to start with having protein shakes again at least daily (some days I was trying to meet it only with food) and carrying my 48oz water bottle with me every where and go back to weighing myself weekly. Wishing everyone good and positive energy in your journey!

  22. Agree, had some pants I never wore, tried it on and they were a little tight when sitting, 3 weeks later they were loose, only wore those once [emoji57] Sent from my SM-G960U1 using BariatricPal mobile app
  23. I struggle a bit with this too, I originally said 180 because even though it seemed impossible to be that weight after 5 years, it still looked attainable with the surgery based on average results I saw online. Then I changed it to 160 because it's the lowest I remember being after puberty and I felt good, not toned at all but weight wise it felt comfortable. I just had my 3-month appointment, and I asked about goal weight, the RN suggested to wait until I'm at 6 months and see how I will feel if I were to choose my goal to be 30lbs from that weigh in, since from her experience that is what most patients say, but she did stress that the body can choose its weight and it can be lower or around what I chose. This goes on hand with my sister's experience where she is still losing past her goal weight even though she has increased her calories.
  24. I waited for my 1 week follow up and then my 2nd week follow up to weight myself. Then I was weighing myself daily but was getting obsessive so switch to once or twice a week since.
  25. You will do great, remember the preop diet is not for weight loss but for liver shrinkage. Try not to weight yourself so often and you will see the weight fall off.
