    Does the fill hurt??

hi x i don't like needles but i have had a few fills and foundthat only one of them was anything like what u could call slightly painfull ! And i'm not talking "toe curling pain" just "ooh that hurts a bit " All i can tell u is don't look at the needle as it DOES look quite long and scary but it has to be long to get through our fat layer to the port site that's sewn to the muscle x hope this is some help to u xclaire
  4. please get a slight unfill :smile2:my first fill was 2.5 mls in a 10 ml band -felt nothing ! 2nd fill came and the nurse agreed to put in anothe 2 mls taking me up to 4.5mls . i went into the waiting room and got a glass of water -well like u said it gurgled and felt strange :confused:i told the nurse and she said it was deffinatly too tight - i went back in and all she took out was .5 mls leaving me at 4mls . i tried some more water and it went down no problem :thumbup:u should NEVER EVER have restriction on water etc. ......... if u feel uncomfortable on clear fluids then u will be stuck on soup !!!!!!!!!! i think the vast majority that have answered u have ur best interests at heart .......please get a small unfill and let us know how u go :wink_smile:xxx

    1 Month and...

hi x i live in the uk and had my first fill a few days ago 8 weeks post-op till the next fill :cool2: i've been told to have liquids for 3 days mushy for 3 days then back to normal till the next fill  1 month seems very soon to have a fill is that normal in america ????? claire
  7. hi everyone :cool2: claire here in the uk !! just had my very first fill at 8 weeks :thumbup:just wanted to let people who are still waiting for their first or are pre-op know that it went absolutely fine :laugh:like other people waiting for it ,i was looking forward to it but quite nervous well i lay on the surgery table and was told to raise my feet an inch to tense up my stomach muscles . wendy [the nurse ] found my port straight away and said the dreaded words "u'll just feel a small scratch " then before i knew it she was in !!! i can honestly say i didn't feel it - 2.5 in no probs !! xxx hope this helps anyone who is feeling a little scared - have been on soups for 3 days then 3 days on soft food then back to normal untill the next fill

    3mths and finally I have a Fill!!

hi x i'm 8 weeks post-op on friday and i'm having my 1st fill on that day too !! i'm hoping she'll put a decent amout in and i'll be able to tell the difference - although i do realise it will probably take a few goes to get it right

5 months out, 55 pounds down!

i am 6 and a bit weeks post-op and due my 1st fill next week at 8 weeks !! haven't lost anything for the last 2 weeks since i went back on solids -poeple keep asking how much wait i've now lost and i feel like a failure saying that i havent lost any more - i think this stage of the game is called ''bandster hell'' when ur back on solids but have very little restriction :sneaky:bring on the fill/fills!!!!!

To Fill or not to Fill ???

hi x claire here !! i'm 6 and a half weeks post op and not had a fill yet and i;m either stuck or i can eat tons of more mushy stuff !!
  12. claire 72

    pre-surgery appetite has returned

this is a very good point :smile:i'm sure that alot of us are very good [and used to ] at beating ourselves up about our weight !!:rolleyes:now is the time to let ourselves heal and have a bit of faith in the future
  13. i was told that the air that is still trapped tries to go to the highest point in ur body - therefore , lie down flat with ur legs up against a wall ie. ur head te wrong way round on ur bed with ur legs straight up the wall :redface:it takes a bit of time but the pain really does subside
  14. right ok !!! i know u probably won't want to do this but it really does work :rolleyes2: i suffered really bad with pain in my shouler [i'm 6 weeks post op ] and the last thing u feel like doing is lying down flat [i really didn't know where to put myself -agony !] but the point is that the air trapped in ur body tries to go to the highest point which is why u get the pain in ur shoulder ! what u have to do [apart from ur painkillers ] is lie down flat on ur bed for eg. with ur bum up near the wall then put ur legs up the wall :redface:sounds silly but it does help - if u are downstairs lie on the floor and put ur legs up a wall or up on the sofa :thumbup:hope this helps -let me know x
  15. oh u poor love :crying:i'm only 5 1/2 weeks post -op and still waiting for my 1st fill so i'm not really qualified to give advice but maybe u could do with a very small un-fill ,maybe even as small as 0.2 or 3 !! hope i don't sound too daft x
