Here is an idea for a tasty treat, if anyone is interested. Use a ripe banana and mash it up with a fork and mix it in with some fat-free or sugar-free vanilla ice cream. It is really good. Essentially, you could use any fruit and any flavored ice cream or frozen yogurt.:hungry: This wouldn't be so good for the later stages after banding, but good all the same. Enjoy!!!!

Anyone else extremely nervous???
stacyrtl replied to rachel73's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's funny, well not really, but I have seriously thought about writing letters to all my family members and friends, just in case something is to happen. To say my good bye's and I love you's, and all that good stuff. But then agian I am affraid that I will infact discourage myself in some way, and maybe it sounds a little crazy but, I'm affraid I will some how "JINKS" myself. I'm trying to stay positive. -
Thank you! Unfortunately, no that is not a picture of me. I wish it was!

What I noticed is that they always seem to show pictures of women who have just had a baby. For the "Marketers" to think that no one would notice something like that, is a little insulting.:mmph: -

You could try using ground turkey instead of hamburg. That might taste just as good. :welldone: Stacy -

Anyone else extremely nervous???
stacyrtl replied to rachel73's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am scheduled for surgery on Jan. 29th, and the closer it gets the more nervous and anxious I get from time to time. I am more nervous about the surgery itself. Hoping it will be a success with no complications, and most of all that I wake up. Because lets face it, I want to live, thats why I am doing this. -
Is it detrimental to...
stacyrtl replied to colleensunshine's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
All the info I have heard and read says you should not smoke before or after surgery. But, I would of course ask your doc. Good luck! -
The info I found says that mushies (pureed foods), even if it is a soft food is supposed to be cooked to a soft texture than placed in a blender or food processor, add a liquid (such as: fortified milk, milk, broth or bouillon), and blend or process. If a preed food is put on a plate it should not spread out completely. Soft solids are soft foods that don't need to be ran through a blender or processor to be tolerated. I really hope that helps you.

I just read thru a thread that asked people who are at their goal weight, how noticable their port is. What I want to know is, is it painful when you press on it, or bump it, or when you wear certain clothing?

Yeah, that whole "last supper" thing seems to set people up for failure. It leads to one meal, than another, than another.... :faint: Well we all get the point (unfortunately).

From what I have read and been told by my doctor, it is best to not have any alcohol for at least a year after LB surgery. As far as after the year mark, I don't know. But I guess it would be in moderation, as with everything else!:heh: Good luck to you!! -
