If you are going to add weight training, then don't count on the scale to tell about your weight loss. Muscle weighs more than fat, so the scale may be mean to you. Make sure that you are measuring yourself to keep a true count of what your body is doing. Good luck!

When did you take your blood sugar? Was this first thing in the morning before eating? I hope that it was just a fluke. I have checked my blood sugar a few times since banding and only once was it higher than I expected. I can't even at this time explain why it was. I would say recheck it first thing tomorrow morning before breakfast and see what it is. If it is still high, call your doctor on Monday. I hope that everything turns out ok.

OMG, me too! I had mine done about 6 years ago. I am hoping that as I lose weight, my cycles will stop all together. Otherwise, my doc is recommending I have another one. She said that since I was younger than 35 when I had mine done, I may need another one within 5 years. Good luck to you!

Wondering why you hit a plateau or regain at about 2-3 weeks post-op? My theory:
*slim* replied to Fanny Adams's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Fanny, thanks for posting this. It makes so much sense. My doctor only mentioned that I "might" plateau once on solid food, but didn't explain why. It is really great to have people like you and the others around to explain some things that doctors sometimes forget. -
Stop! Don't take another bite!
*slim* replied to *slim*'s topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think because all of my moments have been from big bite syndrome, all of my signals have been in my throat. I'm not restricted enough for the pain in my chest. I can only hope that I nip this in the bud before I get that restriction. I go for another fill in less than 2 weeks, so I know that is a real possibility. -
Mac-I am sorry that you are going through so much. I hope that you feel better soon. Tap-Can I come to dinner too? I promise not to drool over the food before you serve it.

Stop! Don't take another bite!

I don't know about you, but once I get that stuck feeling, drinking actually makes it worse. It was always the first thing to do before banding, but now I am trying to break that habit. I still want to drink while eating, so I have been making sure nothing is within reach. -
Sounds perfect to me.

Odd liquids question..
*slim* replied to LapBandReady's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Only your doctor can truly answer that question. If your doctor put in your band without any fill, then probably not. The swelling is going down from your surgery so you will feel more hunger, BUT you really shouldn't force yourself to eat more than you need to feel satisfied. Once you have fill in your band, forcing yourself to eat more can stretch your pouch, making it more difficult for you to feel satisfied with less food. When you reach satisified, just stop eating. Forcing yourself to keep eating isn't going to retrain your brain IMO. It will only continue bad eating habits. -
Stop! Don't take another bite!

Ok, I think I finally recognize my warning. I have noticed a slight gurgling sound/feeling in my throat after the last bite. -

afriad to drink protein shakes
*slim* replied to pattikay's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Just take it slow. Are you able to drink your broth and water with no problems? If not, you need to call your doctor about that. Otherwise, if your doctor has moved you to protein shakes, just drink them slowing. Don't take mouthfuls. Just take small sips and you should be ok. Don't be afraid to try them. Your fear could be unfounded. -
Way to go on the 30 pound mark! I've had one fill. I get another one on the 18th. I really need it. I am still struggling with hunger too soon.

OMG! That's Brooke?!?!? She doesn't look ANYTHING like that now!

You have my prayers Ebony! -
Mac, I hope you are doing better, and that you have more info on what was wrong from your doctor.

PJTP- Hello everyone! I am going for my cup of coffee to be coherent (or coherent for my standards).

I can't look at her and imagine that she ever had lost enough weight to need a tummy tuck. That is bad.
-
I haven't lost much weight, but this is already happening to me! ***sobbing hysterically along with my husband***

Thanks Southern Missy. I just downloaded a version of that to my MP3 player yesterday. I am going to try it. There seem to be a lot of people that swear by it. I will keep you posted on how I do.

I live in Chattanooga and don't go to the support group meetings. Don't get me wrong, I am happy with my surgery from Dr. Ponce, but when I was doing my research about getting the band Dr. Ponce and Dr. Rutledge were the only options listed with my insurance. I didn't like Dr. Rutledge's bedside manner after he did my gall bladder surgery so I picked Dr. Ponce. I realized too late that there were other surgeons that I could have used that didn't charge that fee. I had already paid it, and they DON'T give refunds on it. That's ok, it was still money well spent.

Holy cow! How awesome! Hysterical laughter or the men with white coats...:rolleyes2: That is your "fat girl" brain talking. You have to start thinking with your "athletic girl" brain.

I understand. When I got to work yesterday, I didn't have any work. That was tough. I can only hope that today is better. If not, I am taking my MP3 that has the couch to 5k to work with me.
