You mean I may have to give up my eggs? I don't have good restriction yet. I have still been able to eat eggs. Darn it!

    Sept. Samurai Surgery Check-in

I think we are all testing ourselves. We are just going to have to pick ourselves up by the bootstraps and get butts in gear. We came in with such enthusiasm. We just have to remember why we did this. I go for my next fill on Tuesday. I am hoping that I can feel some difference. We can do this. We were strong enough to make it through the post op diet. We can make it though this too!!!
  4. I have IBS. Needless to say, I was surprised by the constipation that I have had the last week or so. I think it is probably from the extra Protein in my diet. The apricots were a blessing.

Going in for my Second Fill

You could have been talking about me. I go for my 2nd fill this week. Hopefully we will both get some restriction and relief from the hunger. Hang in there!

I hate it when people post just to post.....

I have been saying for years that I am going to move to TX. I still am giving it some serious thought. I am a wimp so I haven't traveled much. Otherwise, I would have already been at least once. When I finally work up some courage, I am going to be asking where to go. Just be forewarned.

    Financing? Why the extra fee?

Did you try Care Credit because they were offering interest free for 18 months? Just a thought since your doctor does accept that. Good luck no matter what way you decide to go!
  8. You should really try hard to stick to the pre-op diet. It is usually done to shrink the liver so that it is easier to move during surgery. I do know at least one person that didn't follow their prescribed pre-op diet and came out of surgery with no band. They were very disappointed. Needless to say, that diet was followed to the letter the next time and surgery went on as planned. It is really for your own good to follow whatever your doctor has said to do. I know it is hard (I did it for 10 days), but it is a short period of time when you think of the lifetime that you will have with your band. Keep trying.
  9. The only naked parts of me during my consult were my feet. My surgeon never even saw my belly before surgery. He had his nurse practitioner (female) look at my previous laparoscopic surgery scars to be sure of where they were. I just lifted my shirt to my bra for her. You should be ok.

    Lap band sizing

    No problem at all.

    Lap band sizing

It has to do with both make/model and the person's stomach size (I think). The doctor determines the size, and you get to choose which band brand you want (most doctors let you pick that anyway). My understanding is that there is no real difference in how each brand works (there are some that will argue about that one). Each one is still just a tool to help with weight loss. You can read up on both types on line at www.lapband.com and www.realizeband.com . I hope this helps.

    Sept. Samurai Surgery Check-in

Doritos are not bad, I ate a chocolate snack cake yesterday. It was a fit of weakness, and I felt so guilty afterwards. Chocolate is evil.

    Sept. Samurai Surgery Check-in

Hi everyone. I haven't checked in on here for a little while. It is good to see that every one is doing well. Teri, I wouldn't worry about a few doritos. We have to remember that this is for life. You are going to eat something that is not healthy every once in a while. I am waiting for my 2nd fill. It is this week. I am hoping that I will finally feel some restriction. I haven't lost a single pound since the week of my first fill. I am glad that I haven't gained though. I still love my band, but will be very glad when it helps with the hunger. I am hungry (true hunger, not head hunger) after about 2 hours. I don't drink with my food. I eat Protein first. It just doesn't seem to stay with me. Anyway, thanks for letting me vent.

    Can you feel it?

I can feel my port when I lay on my stomach too long. I may just be super sensitive to it. It gets uncomfortable after a while.

I noticed that there weren't many posts myself. Where is everyone this weekend?
  17. My son doesn't have one. I have both myspace and facebook blocked from our computer. I know I can't watch him all of the time, but there are some things that I can control in my house. That is one of them. My step daughter has one, but I just don't agree with it.

    New LBT LOGO

I like the 2nd logo because it's tasteful but leaves no question what exactly what the site it about.

    Program fees

The program fee for the group that I used was $1250. I didn't do enough homework on finding the groups offered through my insurance company so I was stuck. I had already paid the non-refundable fee when I realized that there was one more clinic I could have gone through. Don't get me wrong, I don't regret going through the doctor that I did, but it would have been nice not to pay that fee. My fee includes the support groups, free visits (not fills though) during a specified time, and costs of them being a bariatric group of distinction.
  21. I had been pretty regular until a few weeks ago. I remembered seeing this thread and bought both apricots and prunes. I just want to say THANK YOU! OMG! Relief. I will be buying apricots with my regular grocery trip from now own.
  22. It's no problem. Biotin is a supplement. I have seen it at Wal-Mart. It is in most multi-vitamins, but they don't have as much biotin in them. One of them that I saw at Wal-Mart actually said for hair and nails. It has a couple of other vitamins in it that are supposed to be good for the hair. With that and upping your protein, you should see improvement in your hair soon. I hope this helps.
  23. It is normal to lose hair. There are different reasons for it. Some say it is low protein intake. Others say it is from the trauma of having surgery. There are some people on here that swear by biontin. I figure it is probably a combination of both. Everyone that I have talked to says that it does grow back so don't be alarmed. I hope this helps.
