I stopped my birth contol 1 month before surgery. I was told that being over 35 and taking birth control that contains hormones increases our risk of blood clots. That was enough for me to stop. Think about it, it is only 1 month out of your life that you would need to use an alternative method. Would you really rather risk your life just to keep taking your shot for one month? Also, you are paying (or your insurance) a lot of money to this doctor for his expert opinions/skills, why go against him on this? That's just my two cents worth. Good luck no matter what you decide.

Yep. The husband talked to them last night (they called his cell phone so that I wouldn't answer). It still chaps my butt though.

After all of the preparations, the in-laws didn't show up. Not only did they not show up, they didn't even bother to call to say that they weren't going to show up. How inconsiderate is that?

Thankfully, my doctor allows me 1-2 cups of coffee day. That has saved my colon when nothing else was making me go. I hope that you get relief soon, too.

Your MIL and Luluc's MIL makes me glad that my MIL basically just acts as though I don't exist.

Hi everyone. I am having a hard time finding a medicine or nose spray that helps with sinus drainage/post nasal drip:sad:. Do you have any recommendations for an OTC medicine to help dry me out? I would REALLY appreciate any help. Thanks!

Right now, it is hard to make my food last as long as they want us to. I have no real restriction even after my 2nd fill. I agree with RestlessMonkey, we just have to keep practicing "the rules" until we get good restriction. When that happens, I think we will not have to struggle to do things the bandster way.

I am like RestlessMonkey. I woke up wondering if they actually put in a band. I had no restriction after surgery with a 10cc band. I was starving on day 1. I think you should enjoy that restriction because it may be a while before you feel it again.

I've never heard of that. How does it work? Do you pour it into your nose while your head is tilted back?

I have to say that I feel blessed to have such a wonderful set of women come into my life (even by computer). You all are an inspiration. It is wonderful to know that when/if the time ever comes, I know where I can get words of wisdom, strength, and courage. You are a great bunch.

I think you should call your doctor. That is really the only way to know for sure what is going on. That is what they are are there for. I hope you feel better soon.

My insurance (BCBSIL) pays all but the copay amount for my fills.

Also, gastric bypass is not reversible. That was something major to me. I like that I can have the band removed if it becomes needed. With gastric bypass, if you have problems, they can't go back and put your anatomy back together.

My doctor's pre-op diet was 6 Glucerna Meal Replacement shakes (no substitutes) a day, 2 low fat yogurts, 2 glasses of 100% fruit juice, and all of the sugar free, low or now calorie liquids per day including broth. It really varies by doctor though. Some doctors do 2 meal replacement drinks and 1 low carb meal. Some doctors don't even require them on any patients.

That's ok, Donna. I would have resented them having that much time off even though I know I enjoyed every minute of it. How sad is that?

I didn't realize that Miralax was fiber. That would explain why it always takes so long to do anything. Today, I went to my known IBS trigger. I put a splash of half and half in my coffee this morning. Thankfully, it worked. I really hate that bloated awful feeling.:crying: I can't take Milk of Magnesia. That makes me gag before it ever makes it anywhere near where it needs to go. If your doctor makes a good recommendation, let me know. Something has to give.:sad:

Sorry, not at work today. Only because I have to work this weekend. I will be the ONLY one at work on Friday. I guess that means no black Friday shopping for me. I did get the (sarcasm alert) wonderful news that I get to be the special person that works Christmas day this year. It's more money, but so very boring.

That is what is funny about my husband. He can't stand to be with them either, yet he is the one that invited them.

I want to escape too. My in-laws are coming over. They live in the same town. They don't call me or my son (their ONLY grandson). They only call my husband when they want money. I hate it when they show up pretending to just LOVE us so much. ***sticking finger down the throat to gag*** I have to put so much work into a day with people that I can't stand! grrrrr
