I don't really remember being scared of dogs as a child (I have been told I had at least one dog as a child). I started getting scared of them when I would go visit my MIL with DH. She always had these huge dogs that were taller than me in her little apartment. She wouldn't train them, so they would jump all over me every time I went over. She never tried to get them off of me, instead she would tell me that it was childish of me to be afraid of a "puppy". Puppy my butt! Then when my son was a toddler, she had gotten a new "puppy". It jumped on my son and scratched up his back with its claws. That was it for me. I try not to go near dogs that appear big. I will go near puppies, but don't ask my to pet one. I am sure that I have just built those things up in my mind, but to me the fear is so real.

*slim* replied to Mississippi Gurl's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
If you haven't already, you may want to post this in the doctors and hospitals thread found here Doctors and Hospitals - Lap Band Surgery and Lap Band Discussion Forum . I hope that you are able to find a doctor to help you. -
My moment came in a children's museum with my son. I was walking (panting and sweating) with my son. I couldn't keep up. I decided that we would leave, and my son looked so crestfallen. Yet he acted as though he was used to me saying we had to go because I was tired. What kind of life is that for a child?

I have no point of reference. I am scared of most dogs.

I must admit I was thinking the same thing.

Gotta see if anyone else is having this weird feeling.

I have felt what you are talking about. I only get it when I have slept on my stomach overnight. I wonder if we are just super sensitive to the feeling of the band sitting around the stoma. I don't know. It does just go away once I am up. I just assumed it was just me. Good to know I am not alone. I never asked the doctor's office about it since it didn't hurt and didn't cause me to not be able to eat or drink. -
Okay I'm scared.. please help :)

If you get really nervous before you go into surgery, let the nurses know. They will bring you something to relax you. My nurse was so helpful during my experience. They are so great. The surgery itself really isn't half as bad as what people claim. -

I.. I mean, my friend has this problem. My friend seems to find the things that you say down right funny. What should I... I mean, she do about it?
-
"play doctor", hmmmmm...I have done that... I mean my friend hasn't done that in years.

Hey doc! Are you taking new patients?

I have this image of plain doing a really awful Alvin and the Chipmunks impersonation.

It is fairly common. I am sorry to say that I can't think of a single thing that actually helped the itching. You do want to do your best not to scratch them. You might try some topical itch cream around the area but not on the insicions.

Next week, he will swear he is dying a slow, miserable death and that you couldn't possibly understand how he feels. Men are such babies when they are sick.

I guess that is true about relevance. I was still wearing shorts when the temp was 57. I am freezing now, but it is 31 here today.

Me too! We just have to look over them.

My goodness, me too. I haven't seen below 200 in almost 10 years.

If you are tighter than normal and took 3 pills, they could be stuck or have just irritated the stoma. My doc allows advil (prefers liquid and flushed with water) on a limited basis. If your doctor never said no advil, then he/she may allow it. Most doctors say no advil period. My doc said as long as it's not everyday and is flushed through the stoma after taking, that it was ok. I hope that you feel better soon. Also, check with your doctor about his/her guidelines for advil.

That is awesome!
