  1. That is so awesome! I really hope that happens to me! There is no telling how long I have actually had it. My PCP was treating the insulin resistance, but she doesn't do any of my GYN work so she was trying to figure out why I was having insulin issues. I haven't told her about the PCOS yet.

    Feeling guilty :(

You really want to stick to your diet. As RestlessMonkey can tell you, you don't want to get into surgery only to find out that you have a fatty liver and they close you without banding you. That was the main thing my surgeon said. If I come in there weighing more than I did on my last visit, they will reschedule my surgery. You have come too far to mess up now. Jump back into your diet with a vengence.

    Happy surgery day!
  4. When I had my sleep study, the doctor came in that morning and looked at my results before I left. I was scheduled to come back the following week for the 2nd sleep study with the CPAP. My doctor allowed me to bring my own sleeping pills and anything else that I normally had to have to sleep. I was also allowed to fall asleep with the TV on. I told them that is how I sleep.:blushing: I have to admit that crud that they put in your hair is awful! I had to get the water hotter than I EVER use to shower along with about half of the bottle of shampoo to get that stuff out. I wasn't warned about that stuff on the first sleep study and had to go to work the next day. Thankfully they woke me up and 5:30a.m., and I was able to go home and wash and wash and wash....

    Pre-op weight loss goal?

According to my surgeon's office, the weight that they submit to insurance is the weight that they use for consideration. After that, any weight loss is just gravy.
  6. I was lucky when I had my procedure. I didn't have to drink the gallon of icky stuff. Instead, I had a total of 28 laxative pills that I took over the course of 2 days with a clear liquid diet. The pills didn't irritate my stomach or anything. I think if you ask for the pill prep instead, they will give you that option.
  7. Thanks I needed a kick in the pants.

My Protein Shake Tried to Kill Me!

OMG! I am so glad that you are ok. That had to be awful. I know it is very funny now, but I also know you had to be scared during. I hope everything works out ok for you.
  9. My mom is that way. She spoils me rotten:blush:, BUT she is not with me on this surgery. Since I told her about it, she has been in full sabatoge(sp?) mode. She has cooked everyday. She has been baking (she hates cakes and pies) and then sending it all to my house. I told her to stop. What did she do, she cooked a full Thanksgiving day meal on Thursday. I told her that I didn't want it. She showed up on my door step with the food and a full freaking peach cobbler! She just keeps telling me that she doesn't think I should have this surgery. I have tried to explain that this is not like bypass surgery. I have also tried to tell her about all of my health issues (the same ones she has) but to no avail. She is willing to take me to the hospital if my DH can't get off work, but she does not want me to do this. I had to finally tell her that I am ready for this change and though I love her, I can't NOT do this just because of her. I have to the adult that she taught me to be.

    Insurance Papers

That's what I did! I called the afternoon the insurance person at my surgeon's office said she faxed it. I called and emailed every day. It took 6 days! I am now just waiting for surgery to come. Good luck on your approvals! Aprilapple, good luck on your surgery Tuesday!

Viagra in his suitcase before trip

You will never be able to go back. You will only be able to move forward. Whether that is with him or without him, only you will be able to decide. I say take this time that he is gone to re-evaluate your relationship with him. That will give you some idea about whether or not you are willing to stay and work on this, or let it go. I wish you the best. I pray for your strength to do whatever will make YOU happy.
  13. I wondered what exactly I had to look forward to. I was not diagnosed with PCOS until this year. There is no telling how long I actually had it. I was on birth control pills for years so that probably helped me to no have symptoms. I had my tubes tied two years ago and came off of the pill. At that time, my weight ballooned. I gained 35 pounds in one year with absolutely no changes in diet. That freaked me out. The extra hair on my chin didn't make me feel any better. I can only hope that I can be as sucessful as all of you have. Keep up the good work. All of you.
  14. It has been so long since I have crossed my legs. I stopped wearing dresses on a regular basis because I could not longer cross my legs. I am already short (I have been claiming 5 foot 4 for years but my surgeon's office burst my bubble on that. I am now officially 5 foot 1 1/2) so I couldn't really cross them gracefully even slim. Now I can't even cross them like a man comfortably. Such is life. I will be glad when I can do that. Sigh.

    Sexual Peak

:scared2: My mom tried to make me believe she only had sex once (she only had that discussion with me after I was grown). I guess part of the problem between me and DH is because I don't have the desire anymore. In my 20s, I was thin and all about figuring out what sex was supposed to be like. When I got married, we had lived together for years, sex was a chore to me. My husband loves kinky clothes. Well, I see me in those clothes (picture hooker, porn star, trashy pop stars ) and get completely turned off. See through clothes on a short, 250 lb woman is just not sexy:blushing:. I understand that if he is willing to see me that way that I should rejoice:thumbup:. I just couldn't:bored:. I couldn't get past that I knew what I looked like. I am hoping that as I lose weight, that I will find that part of me that used to want sex again. I know my DH would LOVE:drool: for her to show up. Your stories give me hope that will happen. Thanks.

    Depo and Lap Band.

I haven't had surgery yet, but when I did Depo shots, my period started and kept going for 3 months. My GYN actually ended up making me take BC pills after my second shot. I told her that if I was going to have to take BC pills, it was a waste to get the shot. It could be that after your weight loss, it might not be the birth contol method for you any more. I would definitely talk to my GYN about it.

OMG - is this the start of menopause???

I know that I am in perimenopause. My GYN diagnosed that last year after I kept complaining about hot flashes. This year is the first time that I have skipped periods without being on some type of bc pills. I am hoping that I won't have to go the route of hysterectomy. My mom had hers done in her 30s. I am already starting all of the problems she had plus PCOS. Thanks EVE for screwing it up for all womankind! lol

What kind of razor do you use?

Okay, I am getting ready to try the Magic Shave. If you all hear an eerie scream and can't tell where it came from, it is probably me screaming because I couldn't take either the smelll of this stuff or it burned. lol

How many CCs in your bands?

My surgeon's office said that they won't tell me how much is in my band once I am banded.
  21. I didn't lose 10% even though that was in my file. You don't really want to lose as much as they say. If you do, they could come back and say that you don't need surgery because you can do it on your own. Even my surgeons insurance staff told me not to try too hard. Just my own experience.
  22. I am so sorry that you are going through this with your family. I too have an unsupportive husband and mother when it comes to this. I just had to decide who I was having this done for. I am doing this for MY health. My entire family (excluding dh) is overweight. They all have type II diabeties (including my mother who is in denial about it), high blood pressure, and sleep apnea, etc. I am pre-diabetic and now have high blood pressure. I don't want this unhealthy life! Just keep in mind that you are doing this because of you. I hope that everything works out with your insurance. Good luck on your journey!
  23. Hi. Welcome to the forum! I am also in East TN. I haven't been banded yet, but I have gone through the insurance hoops. I have BCBS of IL. They required a six month diet plan, but it just had to have been in the last 2 years. I had a six month period during 2006 that I had gone to the doctor every month. My doctor used the information from those visits as my supervised visits. With that, it only took me about 2 months from start to finish (that includes the month it took to get in to see my surgeon). I am just waiting for my surgery day now and getting more nervous every day! Good luck to you on your journey to a healthier you!

Viagra in his suitcase before trip

I am very sorry that you are going through this, but I agree. You are not crazy. If things were so innocent, he would not need to lie about it. That's just my own opinion. I am somewhat jaded though.

    Olive Garden NOT accomadating!!

I am not banded yet, but I wouldn't want every waiter or waitress to know I am banded just to get a cheaper price. I guess to each his own, but I think that is a rather personal piece of information.
