Maybe it's time to switch up your routine. I have heard that if you do the same routine in your calorie intake and also with your workout, your body can get into a rut. Maybe if you change your calorie intake for a while, and also maybe change your workout routine. That could jump start your weight loss again. Either way, be very proud of what you have done so far. Don't beat yourself up for those few pounds.

something I have to get off my chest.....I HATE PCOS!!!
*slim* replied to ThinDolphin3's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Although it could be, I doubt it. Most people that I have talked to that have it, have problems with their TOM either not happening or being extremely heavy. Another big thing with PCOS is insulin resistance (I take metformin for it). Also, there is typically pain around the ovaries, especially during sexual contact. Also, my GYN sent me for an untrasound. They could visably see the cysts. If all you have is extra hair, you may just have a hormone level issue. Of course, I am sure that there is more that they look for. I hope you don't have it either. Good luck. -
While I wait for approval or not...
*slim* replied to wvgal33's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi. I have BCBSIL PPO. It took about a week for me to get my approval once the paperwork was submitted. I called and emailed the insurance company everyday once the paperwork had been submitted. Usually you can go onto BCBS's website and send a message to customer service or call the number on the back of your card. It doesn't hurt to call the insurance company yourself so that they know that you are very interested in the outcome. Good luck to you! -
I just had mines last week. It took about 30 minutes once I was actually called back. It took longer to get through all of the paperwork than it did the procedure. Be prepared, the barium is awfully thick.

Hi. I am seeing Dr. Ponce in Chattanooga. I didn't realize you were in TN. There are a few of us on here.
-
Congrats. I am glad that you are doing well.

still worried about last pb
*slim* replied to luckytoloose's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
When in doubt, call you doctor. It could be that you are still irritated from your PB depending on how bad it was. Considering that you are concerned, by all means call your doctor. It will settle your mind if it is nothing, and it will give you an opportunity to fix the problem if there is one. -
I am reading "Weight Loss Surgery with the Adjustable Gastric Band: Everything You Need to Know Before and After Surgery to Lose Weight Successfully", and I am finding it very useful. It is by Dr. Robert Sewell. He is a surgeon that has a practice that handles lap band cases. There is quite a bit of information that was given to me by my doctor, but it is nice having a book to reference. It also has stories and pictures from some of his patients.

so painful - i don't know what's wrong
*slim* replied to HonkyTonks's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If your band has eroded, that means that they band is cutting into your stomach. It could be cutting off the oxygen supply to your stomach. Hopefully it is something as simple as only needing a slight unfill. Otherwise, band erosion is a very serious thing. Do a search on here for band erosion and you will probably get several threads devoted to that. I am not banded yet, so I can't give you a complete answer. Making an appointment with your surgeon was a very good idea. I hope it all turns out well for you. -
Everyone's restriction on the day of surgery is different. I understand that as women, we tend to have less restriction right after surgery. I can't remember why, but you are probably ok. If you are really concerned, call you doctor's office and ask. I hope you feel better soon!

I am scheduled to have my surgery through BCBSIL this week. It really depends on your policy. Even though they cover it, it depends on your employer. Some employers have specific exclusions for WLS. The easiest way to find out is to call the number on the back of your insurance card and ask for a paper copy of what is covered for WLS. You also want to find out what the requirements are for them to cover it if they do. If you are just applying for the policy, ask them if there is an exclusion for that in the policy. I hope this helps!

Obviously September has been a very busy month! Congrats and continued blessings to everyone having their surgery this month!

First, Happy Birthday! I didn't really have any real questions that I wished I had asked. I think it is because my doctor's office was really thorough with the information. I have at least 2 books worth of information that they gave me. I think that most of the doctor's staff is so used to this now that they answer your question before you even knew you wanted to ask. I know each office is different, but I left feeling like I was in really knowledgeable hands. One thing I can say, if you find yourself in need of info, the people here know quite a bit! Good luck at your consult.

I will you keep you and all others having surgery today in my thoughts. I wish you all a speedy recovery.

I bought a lot of the protein bullets, too. They taste ok going down, but the aftertaste is awful. It tastes the way that cardboard smells, if that makes any sense. Now I have 4 cases of that stuff just sitting around. I finally made some protein jello with one bottle. I guess I will see if it still has the same aftertaste. I wish that I had purchased a small amount of several in order to find the ones I like, instead of buying in bulk first. NOT a smart move (not that I have EVER been accused of being smart).

I am not banded yet, so I can't specifically answer your question. Make sure that you don't have anything oozing out of the wound. Also, make sure that it isn't hot to the touch. Not to scare you, this is just to make sure that you are not getting an infection. When in doubt, call or go see your surgeon. Everyone heals differently, so it could just be too soon for you. I hope that you feel better soon.

No problem. I am glad to know that I wasn't the only one that had trouble. :rolleyes2:

There is nothing wrong with being different. How I finally got my signature was to just copy the picture of the signature from someone's post then pasted it to my signature. It worked. I don't know if it was supposed to work that way, but it was the only way I could get it to work.

I am so excited that I am losing my mind (not that I had much to lose to begin with). I have been driving myself and my family crazy. I am ready for surgery to come!
-
That's the kind of response that I wish would come to me during the situation. Instead, I think of all kinds of great come backs when I get home! grrrrr! Some people can be so stupid!:girl_hug: You should have made up a recipe and gave it to her. It would serve her right for assuming you could cook because of either your size or your color.
-
Wow. I can't believe some of the things strangers will say! I'm sure that she wasn't trying to be ugly, but people kill me assuming things about larger people. :girl_hug: I wish you could have come up with some type of snappy come back to let her know just how inappropriate that type of assumption was.

I haven't had surgery yet, but I plan to take at least a week off (more if my job will let me). I would rather have 2 weeks to heal and also to get used to this new part of me. I don't want to be at work learning how to eat. That could turn into an ugly situation, especially if I get sick. They took away all of our garbage cans where I work, and the closest bathroom is on the other side of the building. :girl_hug:

Abnormal EKG and surgery scheduled for 9/23

:lol:ROFLMAO -
I have BCBS PPO and I had to have a 6 month diet done within the last 2 years. That part depends on your employer also. Another thing is, some surgeon's office actually require it whether your insurance company does or not. I would either call or email my provider (that's what I did) and get something in writing concerning what they cover and under what circumstances. Once you have it in writing, you won't have to guess or be disappointed later to find that you missed something. Good luck to you.

Scents make me feel sick
*slim* replied to heather113076's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ok, my first thought was pregnant too. I remember the smell of anything fried or frying would send me for the bathroom.
