Why Don't We Give A Little Update Where We're At

Hey, we had the same surgery date. It makes me feel better to know that other people feel the same way that I do. I am so glad that I stumbled onto this forum.:cool2: -
Why Don't We Give A Little Update Where We're At

I tried the carnation instant breakfast this afternoon. It helped for a little while. I drank it for a mid afternoon snack because I just felt so empty. It only lasted about an hour. I made myself wait to have more soup. I made an appointment with a counselor that deals only with food issues. I can only hope that she offers some other tools to add to the arsenal. -
Good luck to all of you having your surgeries tomorrow. I will keep you all in my thoughts.

Be blessed all!

My surgeon recommends the calcium citrate wafers from GNC. They actually said that the Viactiv chews have too much sugar and can get stuck once you have restriction.

Well, unless I am swelling again, I am definitely tighter this morning. I just tried to have less than 1/2 cup of "soup" and couldn't finish it. I am now extremely full. This is really weird. Thankfully I went slow with it, or I would probably be sick right now. I wonder why that seems to affect the band?

WOW! :thumbup:That is so awesome. It is so enouraging to see so many people doing so well with the band. It gives so much hope to the rest of us just starting out.

Why Don't We Give A Little Update Where We're At

Hi all. First I wanted to say to NayRay that I am so sorry for you loss. I know words cannot express what you are going through. I hope that you are able to find the peace to deal with everything. I am 4 days post op and decided to schedule an appointment with a counselor. I am already starting to deal with head hunger. I am not physically hungry, but my mind wants something NOW. I want to try to nip this in the bud before it becomes a problem later on. I recognize what part head hunger played in getting me to this point to begin with. I have been trying to keep a journal to help me see what exactly I am feeling that causes me to want to medicate that feeling with food. I can see it, but I don't know how to fix it on my own. I hope that anyone else that has felt this way has figured out a way to cope without turning to food. -
I have to say that all of you ladies are amazing! It is so nice to see everyone doing so well after surgery. Debbie, I really like what you said about helping someone out of their fat cocoon. That is so awesome! I can only hope that I am able to be sucess story for my PCP and surgeon. My PCP was never against the surgery at all, but I could tell that she wonders if I will be able to make a go of it since I was not able to do it on my own. I hope I can prove it to her and myself. I hope we all can. You all have a great day!

That is so awesome. I stopped my diabetes meds the day before surgery. I am hoping that I will lose my high blood pressure medicine at my next visit.

I am saying a prayer for all of you having surgery today. Be blessed.

help!! my surgery is 2 days away and i have a sinus infection coming on!
*slim* replied to Britt_bander_235's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had the same situation. My sinuses started acting up the weekend before my surgery. I made an appointment with my PCP. She gave me an antibiotic shot and a prescription for antibiotics. I am actually still taking the antibiotics for a few days after surgery. Just call them, the worse thing that they can say is postpone the surgery. If they do, it will be for your health. Good luck to you. -
Can't stop coughing! Help!!
*slim* replied to ladybug1972's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Do you cough both sitting up and laying down? I had my surgery 09/25 and have noticed if I lay down on my back, I end up coughing. Of course, it hurts to cough, so I wake up. I have tried to holding the pillow to make it more comfortable to cough, but it doesn't really work for me. -
To all of you that responded to the poll, did you notice if you got tighter during your TOM even before your first fill? I am 3 days post op, but noticed today (at the start of TOM:angry_smile:) that although my liquids are going down, they aren't going down as easy. Just curious to know the answer to that.

How awesome! Thanks for the positive feedback! This is the kind of thing that keeps me excited about getting my band.

What you are going through is very normal. Most band patients do this. You really want to let that thinking go as soon as possible. You aren't giving up food forever. You will eat again. If you continue to eat this way, it will make it even more difficult to start your liquid diet when it is time. Also, depending on your doctor, you have to weigh at the very least what you did at the original consult. Some really prefer that you lose a certain amount of weight to show your comittment to your new lifestyle. I wish you the best. Just remember, you will eat again, just less.

Congrats to all of you having surgery tomorrow! You will do well. I hope that you all have a sonderful experience.

It is good to know that you are doing ok. I know exactly how you feel about being full or not. It is really hard to tell at this point. I am glad that you aren't in a lot of pain. That is great about your weight loss. I came home weighing 5 lbs more than when I left. I expected that and am not concerned just yet. Keep up the good work.

I was hoping that he would use my gall bladder scars, but he didn't. I look like Dr. Frankenstien has been using my body for harvesting. I agree, I will take the ugly scars. That's ok, I will just keep getting dressed in the dark. haha

I am curious about everyone's incisions. My incisions look really jagged around the edges. Since the other times I have had abdominal surgery, my wounds were covered up, I don't know if this is normal

Wanting my band out :(
*slim* replied to Iatetheskinnyme's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think it is normal for us to self doubt the decision to have this surgery done. I think we all, not only mourn the food, but the comfort that we got from the food. Our bodies have gone through some major trauma. I have started journaling my feelings. It doesn't matter if it is about food, or about some situation at home that I would normally use food to comfort myself from. I hope that in time, you will no longer regret your decision. I hope that we all are able to do well with this tool and benefit from it's usefulness. -
I will be making this for sure.

This month has flown by. I wish every one that is left to have surgery many blessings. Let go of your nerves. Everything will work out fine.

This sounds so delicious. Do you think since it is blended in the food processor, that I could get away with this during mushies?
-
I don't start that phase until next week, but my doc says to blend and strain the soups.
