    Hair Salon Tipping..how much?

I like the Austraian way. I have to admit that after spending 3 to 4 hours at my hair salon, I don't feel like she needs a tip. She is getting $75 tp $100 for each of the 12 to 13 people that somehow get scheduled for the same time. I know every salon is not like this, but that is how the my hair dresser was.

I found out that those things you were looking at are for when you or other people are viewing your profile page. How can we have something to change fonts and colors for the profile page, but can't set a default font for replies and new threads. hmmmm Maybe that can be something that is added?

    Time Off???

I'm taking 4 weeks off. I am on day 5 of post op and am glad that I have that time to heal. It will be funny if I go back to work a different size. Of course, I work with men so they won't notice it anyway.

    Sept. Samurai Surgery Check-in

Hi. Welcome to the forum. You and I had surgery on the same day. In a nutshell, a September Samurai is just a sub-forum support group made up of the people that had their surgery during September '08. Every month of this year has a sub-forum support group of people that are in the same stages of the process as you are. There are other sub-forums that are based on things such as age, weight, and interests. Just look around the site and you will find so much information and support from everyone. Good luck on your journey!
  6. No, you can have as much SF jello as you want. The thing is, on the day before surgery when you are ONLY allowed clear liquids, SF jello is actually on the allowed list. You are allowed as much of the clear liquids that you want during your pre-op diet.
  7. I was told SF jello was ok, but not the pudding. For whatever reason, the SF jello is considered a clear liquid. I would say that this only applies to the day before your surgery though.
  8. I agree, you have done such a wonderful job losing half of what you wanted to lose. It may just be time to switch up your routine. Your body may have adjusted to your workout routine or you calorie intake. Maybe it is time to either raise or lower your calories for a few days a week to throw your body off balance. Maybe it is time to do a differenct workout (i.e. step aerobics if you normally do wateraerobics). I think this journey is only going to be what we make of it. I think you should be so proud of what you have accomplished. You haven't gained any weight. Just snap out of it and stop concentrating on the negative. The scale will start moving again.
  9. Who would have ever thought I would want to be such a loser!
  10. Actually, my doc doesn't want me to start doing that until week 3 after surgery. My instructions are to actually drink a clear liquid after every meal to rinse the pouch and keep food from just sitting there. On week three (mushies), I am to stop drinking right before my first bite, and nothing to drink until 1 hour after. As with every thing else, the amount of time differs per doctor. Just start practicing now, then it won't be a huge change for you later. Good luck on your journey!

1 day post op and scared

Was this your first time having surgery? If so, any other time that you have surgery, you want to mention that you had a really bad reaction to the anesthetic and will need meds from now on. I had a reaction the first time I had surgery and have asked for something since then. I hope that you continue to make progress in feeling better.

1 day post op and scared

Sorry, but NONE of the gas medicines have even touched my gas. Now I have this weird almost burp that is happening. It hurts. I can feel a burp coming, but it won't come all of the way up. I finally put a heating pad on my shoulder (that is where my gas pain is) and that seems to have helped a little. I hope you feel better soon.

    Hunger

I know I started getting hungry Sunday night/Monday morning. I was really shocked because like rosemary3, I would always eat before I got hungry. I almost didn't recognize the feeling. I have also had head hunger though I was able to tell the difference.
  14. Hi. It will pass, but it will pass faster if you can work yourself to do some walking. Walking really helped the gas move. Don't get me wrong, I still have some gas, but nothing near like it was. Since you were banded yesterday, that makes you a September Samurai. We have an entire subforum September 2008 Bandsters - Lap Band Surgery and Lap Band Discussion Forum. If you go there, you will read about several people who had surgery on the same day or just days before you. I think at some point we all have questioned what we have done. Just give it time. The more liquids that you can get in, you may start to feel better. You could be on the verge of dehydration if you aren't able to get much liquid in. Just get up and move slowly. It may take a few days, but you will feel better.

We can (and I hope will) continue to have our own subforum for anyone banded in September '08. We will forever be September Samurai. WooHoo!

    Sept. Samurai Surgery Check-in

Hi. I work as a technician for a telecommunications company. I knew that if my time off was going to be beyond 7 calendar days, I would have to apply for short term benefits anyway. They did give me 4 weeks. I was really shocked. I wasn't expecting them to give me anything. I have just been sitting in a chair myself. I tried sleeping in the bed, but that didn't work. I am on clear liquids until tomorrow. After that, I am allowed anything that can go through a straw plus sf pudding, low fat yogurt (no chunks), and thin potatoes. I am so ready for something other than broth. Not because I am starving, but because I HATE broth. I hope you feel better soon, and that they approve your time off. My stomach looks like I am at least 6 months pregnant. My port is the only spot that is sore. It really hurts to cough. I just worked up to 800 calories. I have been using myfitnesspal.com to measure my intake. I haven't had any pain medicine since Saturday. It just tastes too awful.

I even tried changing them to see if they made a difference. I haven't seen anything different on any page. hmmm

    Last of the September Samurais

Many blessings to the last of the Sepember Samurai! You all will do great today!
  20. I will, if you will. I did ok with the liquid diet at first, but today I wanted food. I cooked dinner for my family and it smelled so good. During the liquid diet, I wanted food but none of it appealed to me. Today it was a stuggle to keep that food out of my mouth. I want to chew and swallow a real piece of meat. Not a protein drink. grrrr

    Your Scars

I am less than a week post op so my incisions are still pretty new. I will say this, I don't know how much experience my surgeon had with people of color, but if the way they look right now is any hint as to what they are going to look like, I am NOT going to get to wear a bikini. EVER. My surgeon used sutures and glue to close them. They look so jagged and rough. They told me not to use anything on them for at least 2 weeks after surgery. All I can say is this, I would rather have ugly scars on a healthier/skinnier me, than to have a perfectly clear/fat stomach anyday!

    Just gotta vent

Hi. You are not alone. I haven't even had my band a week and am wondering what in the heck am I doing? I am sure that it is normal to question such a huge decision like this. Also to quit smoking at the same time, that is so tough. Don't give up on your band yet. It is still so new to you. I don't know who your surgeon is, but my surgeon stressed that this is not going to be quick fix. It is also going to be a learning process. There is, unfortunately, no set amount of fill that they can give to get you to your sweet spot. Just keep going to your doctor. It will get better. Keep coming on here. The people here are going through the same thing as you. Keep your chin up. You can do this. We can all do this. You came in this with hope. Don't give that hope up so soon. I wish you the best of luck.
  23. From my understanding, smoking can make it harder for you to heal. That was the less obvious reason that my doctor gave. Good luck to you.
  24. I've done pretty good so far. I've not really had any pain (not even from gas). I'm dealing with head hunger, and my total lack of interest in my liquid diet. How about you?
