    Allergic Reaction?

I did have that problem, but it was from the pain medicine. My doc wouldn't prescribe anything else and simply told me to take Benadryl. I took Benadryl along with my regular dose of zyrtec. That finally took the edge off, but Benadryl alone didn't do it. Are you taking the maximum allowable dose of the Benadryl?

    two questions please

My doc said 3 meals a day because with proper restriction and following the bandster rules (50% protein per meal), you should not be hungry in between meals. He also said do not lay down for 3 hours after eating. He said it will stretch the pouch, but also lead to reflux from the food still in the pouch. Reflux can equal band erosion later.
  3. My doc said to get 48 to 64 oz of fluid a day. According to my doc, this does include all of your broth, Water, Protein drinks, etc.
  4. I'm 10 days post op and still uncomfortable laying down. I tried again last night. Laying on my back is impossible, and after laying on my side I feel like I am about to tear something trying to get up. I ended up rolling like a pregnant woman to get out of that posistion. I haven't really felt a burning sensation. If it is really bothering you, call your surgeon for peace of mind.

    Driving after surgery

My surgeon said pretty much the same thing, I could drive 24 hours after my last dose of pain medicine. I had surgery on a Thursday and was driving that Saturday night. The only thing about driving that bothered me (and still does at my port site) is hitting big bumps in the road. If I see the bump in time, I brace my stomach like I would to cough. You just have to do what is comfortable for you. For me, I didn't have a choice. I was only able to arrange transportation for my son the first 2 days.

    Shoulder pain...

I am ten days post op and still have some discomfort in my shoulder. It actually comes and goes now. I have less discomfort after walking. The gas-x strips really didn't help me. I kept taking them, but I noticed after walking maybe 5 to 10 minutes, I would start releasing the gas (TMI I know). That would bring immediate relief. I hope you feel better soon.

    Smoked salmon spread

Ok, I made this yesterday. I could make myself sick eating this. This is so good! I had to blend it to baby food in order for me to taste it, but I know if it was that good to me then, when I can make it and still leave chunks....OMG!
  8. I am only on day 10, so this is actually from my surgeon's perspective at this point. Because you have not had a fill, your band isn't working for you yet. It is there, but you will have as much appetite now that you had prior to surgery. Until then, any weight loss or maintenance is sure will power. You are doing the right thing by working out. It will help you to burn some of the extra calories that you are able to eat. What my doctor suggests is to continue to follow the band rules (i.e. small bites w/chew chew chew). They said that because you are eating slowing and giving your body time to feel the food, you will still get full faster and on less than pre-band. Also, just remember, Wednesday is around the corner. Keep yourself active and away from the food. Find a low fat, low calorie snack (protein Water, Protein shakes, etc) to help curb your hunger until you get to your sweet spot (which may not be with your first fill). I hope everything works out for you.
  9. Hi. I was banded a few days after you. I am glad that you found this forum to get some information and support. If you go to this link http://www.lapbandtalk.com/f9/lapband-food-stages-lists-suggestions-3995/, it is a very good guide to the food stages found under the Food and Nutrution forum. It matches very closely to what my surgeon here gave me. I hope this helps you. Have a great lapband journey!

    Freaking out!!!!

Hi. Drink lots of water to keep the sensation of fullness. Also, don't watch TV (too many food commercials). Good luck!
  11. Hi. Congrats on your new start! Welcome to the forum.

    How long.....

Hell, I dated him too! I did date a guy just like that, but it seemed to have the opposite effect on me. Before I dated that guy, I was ok with sex, now even though I still love sex, I can't stand myself. My DH doesn't mind seeing "all" of me in the crazy hooker/slut outfits, but I would shy away. I always catch a glimpse of myself in the mirror. It ruined MY desire.

It pains me to write this...

The hardest part is usually recognizing what you have done. You know what you've done. Now is the time to forgive yourself and move on. Even with the gain, your weightloss is awe inspiring! Be proud of what you have accomplished. I hope that you are able to get back on track soon.

    How long.....

Even though I have been with my DH for 15 years, I still can't do that. Once he wanted me to "dance" for him, I was so uncomfortable:blushing: that I cried:cry_smile:. It really hurt his feelings and mines. How did you build the confidence to do that?

    Sept. Samurai Surgery Check-in

Congrats Simon. I am glad that you are doing well after your surgery. I can truly understand the water thing. I don't like it myself. I wasn't a soda drinker either, so I am surprised that I didn't stay dehydrated. I hope that you and I both can do better about the water. Keep us posted on your journey.

    Sept. Samurai Surgery Check-in

I felt worse on day 5 than I did on surgery day. Now on day 8, I feel pretty good. I still have gas discomfort in my shoulder. Isn't that odd that you can feel gas pain in your shoulder!?!?! :girl_hug::w00t: to everyone. I hope everyone feels better soon.

I really like that cranberry color. Maybe even a combo of the pink and cranberry would be nice.

    Just banded and really unsure

Every person's body reacts differently to surgery. Everyone has a different tolerance to pain. So I don't think you should be overly concerned if you hurt more than someone else. As long as you are able to take in the fluid amount recommended by your doctor, you should be ok. Also, keep on top of your pain medicine. It is easier to keep the pain at bay than it is to stop the pain once it has started full force. I hope you feel better soon.

I haven't noticed back pain yet. Is it constant?
