I just looked at target.com, but the sizing information leaves a lot to be desired. What kind of sizing are we talking about? The website said for my height and weight a 5, but of course, they don't come in numbered sizes. I am so confused..

Every doctor is different on their calorie requirements. Just be sure to follow whatever your doctor says. -
Why Don't We Give A Little Update Where We're At
*slim* replied to speck's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
No last minute advice. Just hugs for you. You have begun your surgery countdown. We are all going to be here rooting for you! Thursday will be here before you know it.:crying: -
Another benefit of you doing liquids so long is your awesome weight loss! That is weight that is gone forever! Also, you should not have to worry about band slippage because of how long your doctor is allowing you to heal. Keep up with good work.

Down 51 lbs., took new photo...disappointed!
*slim* replied to Cheryl Ann's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I think your weight loss is obvious. Your shirt just hangs on you in your during picture. I think everyone is right, you look great! 51 pounds is nothing to sneeze at (even if you can't see it yourself). Keep up the good work! -
I had my surgery on 09/25/08 and have only just started laying down in bed. I felt exactly the same way that you did. I slept in a chair for almost the first 2 weeks. Even now, I sleep propped up. It does get better as the days go by. I hope that you feel better soon!

That sounds good. Thanks!

Dr. Ponce uses the bariactric clinic there for his psychiactric evaluation and nutrition class. Everyone that I met there was really nice. The clinic was really nice. I think I am even allowed to go to support groups over there. I don't know about that doctor in particular, but their services that I dealt with were top notch. That is also where I had my surgery. If their services are any thing to go on, you should be in good hands. I had already gone through most of the process with Dr. Ponce by the time I found out that memorial had a bariactric clinic. Good luck to you!

Hi. Sorry, I didn't use Dr. Rose. I used Dr. Ponce here in Chattanooga. Is Dr. Rose in the bariactric group at Memorial?

If he was taking any medication for his diabeties, he should talk to his PCP about possibly adjusting or even stopping his medicines. He should NOT stop taking anything until he talks to the doctor. Personally, my doctor had me stop taking my metformin the day before surgery. I haven't had a dose since then, and my blood sugars have been normal. Just have him call his doctor. If his blood sugar is dropping too low, then you should take steps to get them back into normal range until he can see his doctor. Hope this helps!

Why Don't We Give A Little Update Where We're At
*slim* replied to speck's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Debbie is right. Don't beat yourself up about not being perfect at this point. I know I cheated on my pre-op diet. I'm not proud of it, but it's true (I ate Krystal's during week 2). Keep doing YOUR best. You can't do anyone else's best. I believe, like Debbie, these doctors know we have trouble sticking to diets. Heck, my doctor didn't even ask me about how I did on the pre-op diet. He didn't weigh me before surgery. You are going to be fine. Just keep coming here for your support or kick in the pants (whichever you need at that time ). Surgery day will be here before you know it! -
Did anyone weigh in pre op vs post op ???
*slim* replied to VEEJEE07's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Don't worry, it is very normal. I came out of surgery 5 pounds heavier than I went in. It is the swelling and the fluids from surgery. This to shall pass. -
Same difference. My husband wasn't jumping for joy either!

How do you get 60g of protein in a day?
*slim* replied to cynw's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It really depends on where you get them. You can pay for singles at about $3.50 from GNC. The cheapest case that I have seen comes from supplements.net here is the link New Whey Liquid Protein 42g - 12 Vials by IDS Sports, Supplements.Net. -
Anyone have any good low carb recipes or food items that are quick and satisfying?
*slim* replied to Ezma's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I made a really great crustless pizza yesterday. Preheat over to 350 degrees. 4 very larg portabella mushroom caps 20 oz can Italian style tomatoes 2 cups Italian blended cheese 3 T chopped basil 2 T minced onion 1/4 cup chopped pepperoni 2 T roasted garlic 1 T olive oil 1 T dried oregano coarse salt 1. scoop some of the flesh from inside the mushroom caps. 2. place them on a cookie sheet. 3. in a bowl, mix the cheese, basil, onion, pepperoni 4. in another bowl mash the garlic, olive oil, and oregano 5. fold in the tomatoes 6. spoon over each mushroom then top with the cheese mixture 7. bake in the oven until the cheese melts and the mushrooms have softened. I just used jarred pizza sauce instead of doing the tomatoes just because I don't really care for tomato chunks. It was really good though. I was able to eat about half of one mushroom, but I don't have any restriction yet. I am sure you can substitute any meat that you want. I used turkey pepperoni for less fat. -

Best wishes to you too! It does help to come here and see other people in the similar circumstances. It's good that you are not weighing yourself. I drive myself nuts weighing everyday! -

I am glad that you made it through the business lunch. I am so scared of those right now. I am glad that you are doing well. -
Thank you for asking that. I wanted to know, but couldn't bring myself to ask.:smile2:

That fee probably is included in your price. I think that the reason we get charged an extra fee is they don't actually get all of the money that they bill insurance. This is a way for him to collect some money up front. Just my own personal opinion on that one. I can't see any other reason for it.

A protein bullet is actually IDS New whey Protein Bullet. It comes in 25g and 42g "bullets" that are really just test tube shaped bottles. They come in 3 or 4 flavors. I bought the 42g bullets. They are only about 3 oz of liquid. They are about the consistency of unset Jello. Here is the link to where I got mines New Whey Liquid Protein 42g - 12 Vials by IDS Sports, supplements.Net although you can get them at GNC. This place sells them cheaper than any other place that I have found. You can buy a single one at GNC to see if you like them. They don't taste bad, but they do have an aftertaste.
