    shoudler pain

Walk, walk walk... I know that doesn't sound like it would help, but I promise after I started walking, you can feel the gas moving. I then started burping up some of the air. Walking is the ONLY thing that helped me with the gas.

    New Whey "Test Tubes"

I have seen it on this site and others that the body only absorbs about 20 g of protein at a time. I haven't asked my nutritionist about it, but I have read it several places.
  3. I have wondered if that was what was going on with me.

    Surgery cancelled!!!

I agree with most of the other posters, at the surgery center, they are ONLY doing surgery. They don't have sick people and the germs that come with them. I have heard that it is a lot healthier (germ wise) to have your surgery done there rather than the hospital. Only you can make up your mind, but I would go for it with the surgery center. If the doctor was having trouble with patient care at the hospital, then I would trust his judgement. You were trusting him to cut you open, why not trust that he has your best interests at heart with the change in venue. Good luck with whatever you decide.
  5. Hello everyone. I am at the end of week three post op. I just accidentally scratched off a piece of the glue on one of my smaller incisions. It is not completely closed and started to bleed some. I have a call in to the doctor, but do you think I should put a bandage or something on it? I am not sure how long it will take the doctor's office to call back. Thanks for any replies.
  6. Ok, since it won't let me delete this thread, I will simply say nevermind. I just got the call back from my doctor. Thanks!

    Unusual Questions

I would ask how many lap band surgeries the doctor has done. What his complication rates are. Ask if they have emergeny hours for patients (for unfills if too tight). Those are a couple of questions that I would have asked. Thankfully my doctor is very experienced, has low complication rates, and has emergency hours (although they cost extra). I am sure that there are other more important questions that I haven't thought of at the moment. Good luck to you!
  8. I am sure that there are going to be people that don't agree with me, but gas x strips did nothing for me. I did the strips, the pills, and also another brand's extra strength gas medicine. None of that worked. The only thing that worked was walking, walking, walking.
  9. Thanks for saying that. I was starting to wonder if I should be scared.
  10. I haven't had my TOM since banding. I am due next week, just like you. I am also due for my fill next week, just like you. I can only hope that neither of us have trouble! I guess we both had better take it slow to avoid sliming or PBing.
  11. Sorry, I am still going to reply. Just to say that I am glad that you found the information that you needed. Good luck on your journey!

I hate it when people post just to post.....

My doc says 60g-70g of protein a day. By the way SNT, I know I won't remember to say anything on Thursday, so be blessed. You are going to do great!
  13. It really goes to show how different doctors are. My doctor's office listed yogurt and custard as full liquid. Check with your doctor's office for his instructions.

    Crushed....

Kaytiebugs, if your doctor or hospital is requiring the deductible be paid up front, have you tried Care Credit? I was able to be approved through them to pay my doctor's program fee ($1300) and they offer 18 months no interest. I don't have the best credit, so maybe you can get approved through them? I just went to carecredit.com. I hope everything works out for you.
  15. Thanks everyone for the replies. It helps to know that this is normal. I didn't know if I was doing something wrong. Thanks!
  16. I am in my 3rd week post op. I am starting to dry out. My lips are chapped. My hands and feet are dry. I put on lotion, but within minutes it feels like I never put any on. I am drinking my water, but I am still feeling so dry. Did anyone else have this happen post surgery?

:smile2: I thought the same thing!
  18. I simply wish that I had dealt with my food issues before banding. I am seeing a therapist now. If you can, go ahead and see someone now to deal with you food addictions. That way, once banded, you can concentrate on just being banded. I am trying to learn new habits for band eating while trying to learn new habits for dealing with food all together.

    New from Tennessee!

Hi, I am in Tennessee also. You have come to a great place for information. I also have PCOS and insulin resistance. I haven't taken any medicine for it since the day before my surgery. It has already helped there. I hope that you find all of the information that you want or need to help you make your decision. Good luck on your journey!:smile2:

    Low Carb Banders Unite

I have a hard time with it myself. I have tried it before banding but was unable to keep up with it. I am hoping that now that bread and such may be a problem, I can get back into it. I am taking it one step at a time.

    Greek Yogurt???

Thank you for posting that recipe! I have just started eating Greek yogurt, but found the cost very high. I have been buying Chobani fat free Greek yogurt. It is very tasty, but at $1.59 for that small tub, it is too high to have often. I will be making some for myself this week!:smile2:

    What about sweet tea???

Does it come out sweet enough, or do you still have to add spenda or some other sweetner to it?

    Low Carb Banders Unite

I would think that your carbs are going to come from the spinach and possibly the onion. Check the carb count for the spinach and divide it by 5 for the entire recipe. I looked at atkins website and it said 1/2 cup onion is 2.8 net carbs.

    Dealing with addictions

I just had my first appointment with a counselor (that only deals with eating disorders) to deal with my food issues. She pointed out that our food addictions are just as bad as any other addictions. The difference is, we have to have food to survive. Until you are able to walk past a coke without picking it up, it would be in your best interest to not have any in the home. That way, you won't have the temptation of seeing them. Also, as someone else mentioned, the thought of hurting my band made it easier to give up the sodas. I haven't had a soda since my seminar back in August. It was hard, but after a few days, it got easier. My doctor says no sodas for at least a year, and if he has his way about it, never to have another soda again.
  25. Does anyone have any tasty lentil recipes? I have never had them, but I figure it is time to expand my tastes a bit. Thanks for any responses.
