Debbie, I like the way that you think. I haven't measured myself at all. I do know that things are changing because I was able to wear a pair of jeans yesterday that haven't been on my hide and zipped up in a really long time. Keep up the good work!

If you won, then so did I. I wondered if I was seeing things.

I guess I must be super sensitive. I still cannot sleep on my stomach. It doesn't hurt, it just seems like I can feel my port. It may be my imagination. I can sleep on either side comfortably, but not the stomach. Go figure.

I'm posting just to post, too.

OK... it's October now, what's happening?
*slim* replied to terilynn112's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I had my first PB today. That is really not a nice feeling. I am not sure if I missed my "don't eat another bite" que, or if the bite I ate was too big. Heck, I may have even not chewed it enough. I do know that the bite was just sitting there. It would not budge. I could feel this awful feeling in my throat. I made it to the bathroom just in time (I know, TMI:tongue_smilie:). Once that food in my throat came up, I was fine. I didn't feel nauseated or anything. I didn't feel overly full. It just would not budge. I do not want to repeat that feeling ever again. -
SNT-Welcome to Bandland! Woohoo!:tongue_smilie: Fanny-Woot! Onederland!! Congrats!:tt1:

XP: Successful Bandsters Past and Present
*slim* replied to RestlessMonkey's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Thank you for asking this question Restless. I think this is information that all of us as new bandsters wanted to know, but may not have been as sure how to ask (at least I didn't know how to ). -
I made it last week. It was so good. It was moist and tender. I really enjoyed it.
-
It definitely has been hijacked. It is nothing like what I read at first.

What is your biggest struggling point?
*slim* replied to terilynn112's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My biggest strugging point is finding something that I want to eat. I guess I have a hard time knowing what is healthy so I stick with what I do know to be healthy. Well, after a while, baked fish(no butter) and baked chicken gets REALLY old. I am growing gills and feathers. I try going to the food and nutrition boards, and have even tried some of the recipes. They just aren't the every day go to type of foods. -
I have to admit luluc, I don't even like dogs, but those puppies are so cute! They look like you should just snuggle up to them. awww Backing away from pictures of cute dogs before I start liking them.... SNT, where are you?

Why Don't We Give A Little Update Where We're At
*slim* replied to speck's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I feel your pain. I am starving within about an hour. It is hard to just have 3 meals a day with no snacks when you are starving. grrr!:wink2: -
I am glad that you didn't let your doctor bully you into getting a certain surgery. I just don't think doctors should do that. To me, they should work with me to find out what is best for me, not what is best for their pocket books. I know that not all doctors do that, but I'm just saying...

I have everything crossed that I can!:wink2:

Congrats! You know, the slower the loss, the better chance you have of your skin shrinking without plastic surgery! Keep up the good work! I hope to be like you in that many months!:wink2:

I love Crystal Light, but the regular lemon one gives me reflux (before surgery). They have a natural lemon flavor that didn't seem to be as acidic as the other. My doctor recommends Crystal Light for people that don't like water (people like me).

I forgot about it being tax deductible. I wonder if the $1000 "fee" that I had to pay is tax deductible too? hmmmmm

How does everyone feel about gum chewing?
*slim* replied to scanlon21's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't know if this is common. I do know that my doc says no gum after surgery. The thought is, if you swallow it, you could become blocked and they could have to surgically remove the gum. Not something that I ever want to happen to me. I figure, if it helps you right now, chew it, but to talk to your doctor about how he/she feels about gum chewing after surgery. Good luck next month! -

Today is the day! woohoo!!! I am praying for you! You are going to rock this surgery! -

I'm sorry that Dr. Ponce wasn't willing to do your surgery. I've seen Dr. Rutledge for surgery other than WLS. He did my gall bladder surgery. I am shocked about Dr. Ponce not being willing to do your surgery. I had never heard about Drs not wanting to do the surgery on Chrohn's patients until I came to this site. Maybe Dr. Rutledge will be willing to do the band. I have heard of other Chrohn's patients getting the band. Just do your research. Good luck on whatever happens.

I didn't even include that in what I paid. In total I will have paid a little over $1500. My surgeon charged $250 program fee (I paid $95 of that) and a $1000 "fee" on top of what he charged for the surgery. I paid $1305 in advance (including the "fee"), but my insurance said my part to him should have been $182. They claim that they will give me a refund. I paid $95 for the nutritionist/psychiatric visit. Then I owe $150 to the anesthesiologist. Thankfully, they paid 100% on the hospital.
