Longer wait than I wanted!
MountainClover replied to MountainClover's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You are both right about research and changing habits. I have been working on both. I figure the more weight I lose before surgery the easier the surgery will be. So I think I have made peace with waiting. Its just I had it in my head that I could have it done in Feb. I just need to adjust my expectations and come back to reality. Im still losing weight and I will still have the surgery when it is supposed to happen. -
Im a shopaholic too. Im having such a hard time not buying stuff and I haven't even had surgery yet!!!
-
We had those where I worked at a retirement home for the residents to use. I used one once and I really didnt think it was very helpful. It really didnt give a whole lot of exercise, at least for me. I was also waiting to get a knee replacement when I used it.

Well at least you had the body shaper on. So people saw nothing more than they would with a swimsuit! Time to get new pants though. -
New, Dazed and Confused
MountainClover replied to David in Washington's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am really glad to hear that the surgery made the IBS better. That was the one thing that I was worried about with my plans for the bypass. My dr recommended the bypass as opposed to the sleeve because of my severe GERD. -
What do you eat at the movies?
MountainClover posted a topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Hi Everyone, I am still pre op but I will be having the bypass in hopefully Jan or Feb. I am practicing what I will eat afterwards. We go to the movies frequently and I have seen where it says you shouldn't eat popcorn after surgery. Does anyone have any suggestions on what I can snack on ? I love popcorn so this is going to be difficult to not eat. Can I just eat a small amount? I have already figured out what to bring to drink. Thank you for any suggestions. -
Kim, I just wanted to say Good Luck with your surgery tomorrow! I am so excited for you!!!

Still Fighting
MountainClover replied to SeattleLady's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
I hate that insurance companies have a say in what healthcare people are allowed to have! Im sorry you are having to deal with this. But keep fighting. Im sure that they hope you just give up and quit. -

Thanks for the suggestions everyone. I think I will try the moon cheese. I have never had that before and I love cheese. I will ask my dietcian about the popcorn next time I see her. Maybe she will say a little is ok. Popcorn has always be a go to snack at our house. -

That looks fabulous, except for the green peppers for me. I cant eat them. I make something similar with cabbage. -
Celebrating 100 Pre-Op!

Congratultions!!! -
Well, maybe its my clinic that requires 4 months. I think it will take that long to get all these appointments done anyway. 4 months is ok with me anyway. It will get me past the holidays.

I have Medicare and they also require a 4 month period too. The drs office says it takes that long to get all the appointments done before surgery.

I dont think you can be over prepared. I mean I dont even have surgery date and I already want to order every thing and pack a bag!!!😅My surgery will probably not be until January or Feburary. Im a planner so thats what I want to do and the fact that I dont have a date is driving me crazy!!! I want to prep meals for my son and husband so I dont have to cook for the 1st couple of weeks. But my hubby keeps telling me its too early to start making stuff!!

Am I weird?
MountainClover replied to SleeveToBypass2023's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I dont think its weird at all. If you are comfortable sharing, it might help another person start on their journey. I spoke with a co worker who I had worked with for several years and I had no idea that she had wls quite awhile ago. I was surprised that she had had it so long ago and she looked great still. She also told me one other co worker had had wls too many years ago. So those were 2 postive experiences for me. Believe me I had lots of questions for her. When I finally made the decision to have the surgery, I told my best friend first before I even told my hubby. I told my hubby who was suprisingly supportive and I have told my sons and my daughter who have also been amazing. I have not mentioned anything to my sisters or any other friends. Im just not ready to tell them anything yet. I dont even have my surgery scheduled yet. -
Containing the fat (and skin) to improve exercise
MountainClover replied to Queen ApisM's topic in Fitness & Exercise
The only thing I can think of is compression leggings for exercise. They also have compression tops too. I have never worn these because I am pre op but maybe they will work. Good luck! -
Blood Pressure down

As a retired nurse ,I think as long as you arent having any symptoms I wouldnt worry about it. Thats not really all that low. Make sure you are getting enough fluids. -

MountainClover replied to Sd14810's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Some drs are just jackasses! I am a retired nurse. I have met MORE than my fair share of these idiots!! It makes you wonder why are they even in the medical field if they behave that way? I am sure you aren't the only one he has treated that way. -
No medical support
MountainClover replied to Sd14810's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I understand and that is probably the reason for that dr's terrible behavior but you werent asking for drugs you needed fluids! For him to refused fluids is just asinine!! I hate drs like that!! He was just very unprofessional. He really should be reported. -

MountainClover replied to Sd14810's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wow!! I am shocked at the drs behavior. Dehydration is a serious issue with this surgery. It can make you feel terrible. Is it possible to go back to the clinic that did your surgery? At least they would handle it differently, I would l hope. -
What made you decide to have a WLS?
MountainClover replied to omrhsn's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I have a bad knee.... again. The only way the dr will fix it is if I lose about 30 lbs. Im 68 years old. I cant breathe and cant walk because of my knee. I have been dieting forever and now I am losing a minimal amout of weight. My dr suggested it in April but I wasnt quite ready She refered my to a dietian and I have been following that diet and by July had only lost 5 lbs. I decided if I wanted to ever get my knee fixed and get off the oxygen I would have to have the surgery. The dietian said it would be the sleeve which I hadnt even heard of. I go for my first surgery appt on Tues. Im hoping it is not going to take another 6 months to a year for me to have the surgery. -
