A little drink?
MountainClover replied to ohsnapitsjonny's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Just my thought, you can go out with your friends without actually drinking alcohol. I dont drink because I dont like it but I do go out with my friends and just have nonalcohlic drinks. -
Sigh. The hair loss has happened
MountainClover replied to qtdoll's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I havent had my sugery yet and Im already losing hair because Im old!! I keep my hair short so its not so noticeable. I too used to have very thick hair but not any more. -
I would be finding another doctor. If he didnt even review your record what else did he not see? Honestly, there are many things that you could do to get your BP down including just cutting down on salt a little and it could be that your BP was just high that particular day. Mine is always higher at the dr office. Did he have any ideas on other kinds of birth control for you if you stopped the pills? If you are a size 6-8 you do not need to lose more weight!

How did you choose your goal weight?
MountainClover replied to kbsleeved's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I chose 120lbs. I was 120 in my late 20s I am 68 now. I am 5ft 2in so I figured that was a good weight for me, however my Nurse Practioner says that it really should be about 160lbs. But we will see. I was at 170 a few years ago and although I looked better I was still not happy with the way I looked so I am still hoping for 120 to 130. -

33 mile ultra run complete
MountainClover replied to JAKE H's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Wow!!! That is amazing!! Congratulations!! -
I have not experienced this but this is my sons exact story, only he was never overweight until now because of the pain. Find a different doctor and therapist. Chronic pain is real and many drs just dont feel like it needs addressing. There are many things you can. Your first step is finding a pain managment clinic to help with your pain. Next stay away from the alcohol. There are lots of calories in most alcohol. Next track your calories again. Do what exercises you can, even if its chair exercises just to be able to move. Its very difficult with back pain. You can do this, but you need the help of drs willing to help you. If a dr has a cavalier attitude about your pain , that is not the right dr for you.

Onederland!!!
MountainClover replied to Jeanniebug's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congratulations!!! I havent seen onederland in many years either. I cant wait until I get there. I have 12 more pounds to go. -
I have to be cleared by a pulmonologist prior to surgery. I called the office today to get an appointment and they said they will call me when the get to me on the very long list of people waiting for get appointments. They are scheduling appointments in to March now!!! I was really hoping to get my surgery done in Feb. I have a GI appointment in Jan. I thought that was bad. Im thinking about going to Phoenix to see if I can get into a pulmonologist sooner there. Flagstaff only has one Pulmonary Dr office. I know some of you have waited a really long time to get your sugeries done. Im anxious to get it done because I cant have my knee replacement until I lose weight. I really need that done ASAP. Oh well, patience was never my strong suit!!!

Head Hunger vs Actual Hunger
MountainClover replied to BlessedMomma91's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Wow!! That was a great video! Thanks for sharing it. -
Im sorry people just say weird stuff. It seems like everyone has an opinion about our bodies and for some reason think its ok to say it out loud to us!! I used to work in a nursing home with our long term care residents and I have had them tell me "You sure are fat" to which I respond "yes I am" and just let it roll off me. I dont take those things personally. Old people and kids are very honest. But that doesnt excuse everyone elses rudeness. Just dont take it personally. I am losing weight for me not for my husband ,not for my friends ,just myself, so I dont care what anyone else thinks.

Dealing with Sabotage
MountainClover replied to BrightNights's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
The next time she buys your favorite junk food and tells you that it needs to be eaten now. I would pick it up and throw it in the garbage disposal or garbage can and make sure she sees you do it. Forcefully tell her you cant eat that and everytime she brings junk food into the house it will be thrown away. Im sorry you are having to deal with her. -
Celebrate you today!
MountainClover replied to KimA-GA's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions

Day of Surgery Concerns
MountainClover replied to shexmoves's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
With all sugeries the only part that will be exposed is the area they are actually doing the incision on. Everything else is covered in sterile drapes. I would ask your surgical team about your period. You cant be the only woman who has had your period when you have surgery. I'm sure it will be no big deal. Good Luck with your surgery. I cant wait until I have mine scheduled. -

You may be allergic to the tape or the adhesive on the tape. Have you tried hydrocortisone cream or benadryl cream? -
Upper GI tomorrow
MountainClover replied to David in Washington's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Unless I am mistaken, you are not sedated with an upper GI. They are just xrays. -
I am so glad you are doing well.

Obsessed with food, cooking, feeding people
MountainClover replied to Brittneykdelacruz's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I cant see anything wrong with that. I have been like that my whole life. I love cooking and feeding people. Baking is my favorite. Im hoping that after my surgery I wont eat as much of what I loved to cook. I have hundreds of recipes and I still love making new recipes. As long as you are not eating large amounts your friends and family will be very lucky to be able to eat your cooking. Have fun!!
