    Cruising with your band

I was banded on July 25th and having my second fill on September 9th. I have a cruise booked for October 23rd. I don't think I will have any problems. I am excited. I have lost 36 pounds and am feeling really good. Although I would like to be going on a cruise 100 pounds lighter, (that is just another goal I can set for myself) I am just happy that I am physically feeling good and have relieved some pressure off my knees and ankles. So needless to say, I am ready to cruise! I am going to check out that link on the info about cruising with the lapband. Thanks for bringing up this question, I'm glad I wasn't the only one with concerns. I hope you have a great (worry free) time on your cruise!
  2. Hi everyone, my name is Renee. I was banded on July 25, 2008 in Houma, LA. I had complications from the anesthesia and had to stay overnight. I wasn't holding anything down except ice chips. I thought I was in hell those first few hours. As the next day went on I started feeling much much better. It helped to get up and walk around. I have lost a total of 12 pounds since surgery. I was on liquids for just a week post-op. I was weak and couldn't find the stregnth to do anything. Once I started the soft proteins the second week (which the bariatric nurse ok'd) I started having energy and getting around a whole lot better. I have been on the same protein diet for almost 2 weeks now and I've started to get hungry in between meals. I work full time and thank God for that! It keeps me from snacking. I haven't had my first fill yet. I am hoping that helps with the hunger. I know it could take quite a few fills to get where I want to be. I drink plenty of water to try to curb my appetite. Any other suggestions until I get my first fill? I don't want to gain any weight from now until then. My appointment for my first fill is August 26th. Any input would be greatly appreciated!

    Pre-op

The same thing happened to me. My surgery was scheduled for the Friday and I woke up Monday with sore throat and very congested sinuses. Since I had a bad experience with the whole pre certification period with my insurance and the coordinator from the doctor's office, I vowed nothing was going to stop me, not even a little cold. I made an appointment with my family doctor and he loaded me up with antibiotics and gave me 2 shots. Needless to say, I was good to go come the morning of my surgery. (July 25, 2008).
