Hi ya'll! I wanted to stop in and say "hi" and get some questions answered. I have gone to the Presbyterian Hospital and Dr Bauman's Lapband seminars. I have decided to go with Dr Bauman. I have filled in the online patient registration tonight. How long does it take for them to call me for an appt? Should I call them to get an appt? I have had recent blood work, but what other tests besides the upper GI do you have to do before surgery? Thank you guys so much for any info you have!!!

Hi there Sweetness! Have you had your first consult with Dr B yet?
-
OOH I have a "get 'er done buddy"! Sweet! 3months to get in ??? WOW! I must of lucked out. Must have been the NYR's. I got him to answer the questions from one of the stickies from the general discussion group. I can write them out when I get back home.. i at work right now. Do you know which ones you really wanted answered? He asked me where I wanted to start and I whipped out my FOUR PAGES of questions. Plus I think we kind of broke the ice with him cause the first thing we asked him is "why on earth did he do his residency in Roanoke VA? (where my hubby is from) Roanoke is poodunk to me. I was the last person of the day and he looked tired. BUT he went over everything in detail.

I got my upper GI today. ugh ughugh ugh nas-tay! The barium swallow part was ok, but that crap before it to coat your stomach. It was like drinking desolved chalk with equal added for sweetness. On a brighter note, I met with Dr B, it went well. I had 4 pages of questions and we got thru them all. Dr B looked tired today. Poor dude. And, it seems that he may be able to get me around end of June time frame too. I still have the psych eval and vit D test to do.

Kim, am I remembering right that you used to work for Dr Bauman? If so, where you at the March 16th seminar? I was the crazed redhead asking questions about UHC insurance and kept you there late.. if that was you.
-
I put it in the March Chat thread, but darn it all, I'm going to B**** about it hear too. Hubby has state bowling tourney this weekend that I forgot all about. **more cussing**, so I cant be there.

What kind of protein dink is everyone drinking?
wavydaby replied to willybe's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
What do ya'll think about the Weight Watchers smoothie shakes? They have about110 cal and 15 grm of protein? I love the Caramel Cappachino, it reminds me of a caramel frappachino from the Starbucks. -
Well, another theory could be the hormones. When I was pregnant my hair was KICKIN'! It was wondrous, soft, healthy. A week after my delivery, it started falling out in clumps. I would notice it in my shower and I too would stick it on the wall to see how much came out "today". (Dont worry, I tossed it in the trash when I got out.) I asked my OB/Gyn and she said the flux of hormones was doing this to my hair. When I started paying attention, I noticed that my eyebrow wax was lasting longer than normal too. With the dramatic loss of weight, I imagine hormone levels are going up and down like a roller coaster. Oh and it was around 8 months when i stopped seeing all my hair in the trash. Its grown back to "normal" now.

I went on google and did "lap-band forum and 'insert your hometown here' " and found some forums that way. That's actually how I found this site since my state's forum is pretty active.

I can come! Woohoo IHOP!
-
Ahh man, I hope no one else cancles..I promise I won't bite. That is, unless you want me to On the flip side. Who did everyone go to for the psycho evaluation, um.. I mean psych evaluation.
-
Wow! I have consultation appt next Thursday at 3:30. I didnt think I'd get in that fast for that
-
Holes in the sheets?? Eww, now that is gross. I work out at curves, a regular gym does not appeal to me. I will be at the April 1st get together. I will be out of my funk when the stupid weather decides what temperature it wants to be.
-
Someone told me a long time ago that there were some lapbanders that meet at the Wachovia CIC location.. anyone an evil banker?
-
Looks like I'm going to need the vitamin profiles, the upper GI and the shrink appt. I had some of the blood work done last week when I got the list that Presby wanted me to have done. They didnt want the vit. profiles or the 25 OH draw. I'll be making the appt for the consult and I will let you know when my appt is. I heard its like already out to May. Yikes. I have nooo patience. Oh well

Lapband vs Other choices, Why did you go this way?
wavydaby posted a topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi there all, I am just starting this journey. I am 95% sure I am going to have some kind of WLS, but not sure which way I am going to go. Lap band or RNY. Why did ya'll go the way you went? Right now, the only pro's I see for lapband is less a)surgery risk and b)reversiable if something terrible were to happen. Granted, still risky surgery, but less. Anyone have any regrets and wish they went RNY? -

Thanks,ya'll for your input. You're pretty much echoing what I already had in my mind. I guess I just wanted someone else to say it to?
