Just for fun! Poll for TIM.
wavydaby replied to faybie's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
My Dr's rules were, dont gain any weight from his initial consultation to the last pre-surgery office visit. That would typically be 2 weeks out from the surgery date. I did gain 5 lbs, but since I didnt want to know what would happen, I joined the "soup train" lost 6 lbs before the pre-op office visit, I didnt have to do any diets. And I specifically asked at that visit, Do I need to do a pre surgery diet?" I think its just dependant on the surgeon. -
Oh, DH could also be the "d-word cuss word" husband. Depending on if he has done his chores
-
Surprisingly, the only negativity I had is from a friend of mine who is overweight. And honestly, its not a great deal of negativity from her, but its this bizarre cloud that has brought to light just how much we have changed since we were buds in college.

Ah, he cant complain too much.. afterall, I will let him go 3 hrs on work nights before I go in there and demand "nookie"

dterenzi Personally, it took me 6 months from start to finish. By that I mean, I went to two differnt seminars, (presby and Dr B's) Then I signed up to meet with Dr B Then I went to my PCP to get blood work done Then more blood work (I forgot to get something drawn) Then more blood work. (Lab lost sample ) Then psychological exam... and wait and wait for results Then the results of my H Pylori test was positive, so I had to take antibiotics for 2 wks, then wait 2 wks and be tested again tomake sure it was gone. Then, submit everything to insurance, their turn around was 5 days. Then Dr B scheduled me for 8-15 So from my first seminar to my schedule date, approx 6 months. Not to bad in my opnion. And I drug my feet. I am scared of surgery, et al.

I have United Health care under Wachovia.. so if you do, they do approve it.
-
I would go ahead and do Dr B's seminar and do the seminar that Presbyterian hospital in CLT has on both the Lapband and the RNY. I did them both before I made my final decision. I already knew that my insurance may cover it, I was not approved before, but I knew that people who had my insurance did get approved. Then I went to my PCP and told him what I was going to do.

I am printing off the one poster with the bag of chain mail dice, so he remembers why he has to sign off of WoW every now and then.
-
That was funny enough that when I made my husband sign off WOW and come look at the funny link, he didnt complain!!!

And if you go in the casino, take cash in there. As much as you want to LOSE! But, if you are a bind a need actual cash (and the ATMs on board are empty), you can buy some chips, play some hands of blackjack and cash out and get cash back. Oh and the carry on bag is right on too. You will leave your bags out side of the ship and they will "magically appear" later on that night. So take any meds, changes of clothes you may want(bathing suit, ect) The first night on the ship the fancy dinning room dress is casual, so you wont need to change for dinner. Oh dont let the dress code for the fancy dining room scare you. As long as you are not nekked or in a bathing suit, they will let you in. The stores and the casino open as soon as the boat hits international waters! I know I will think of more stuff as more people post. I love to cruise. I want to do a Panama Canal cruise when I hit goal.

I TOTALLY agree with everyone on going to your boss and letting him know what happened. See if you can get the hotel to provide you something that shows the inbound # calls you got that show when she called you. YOU MUST go to HR and your boss on this. She's psycho!!! And God only knows if he told his wife some kind of lie or fantasy or what ever.

Hooray for ya'll that have made it thru the big day!!! Keep us posted on how ya'll are doing!

I have bad news. I got my scrapbook class registration and a class I thought I had on friday, I have on Saturday. The class isn't over till 5:30, which means that I wouldnt get to the party till after 6..more like 630. Will there be anyone other than me after 5? I dont want to put anyone, especially since I cant swim anyway.. its that TOM. (thank God actually, I was afraid that i would have it during or right after surgery.. uck yucky yick.)

Forget exchanging money, they like dollars better than their own currency. Every time we have cruised, I have found that merchants are more willing to haggle if you have US dollars than if you have the local currency. But do take cash unless you go to a store that is recommened by the cruise line. (READ THE CRUISE MAGAZINE-- THERE ARE COUPONS IN THERE-- that is if you are a coupon nut like me) Then you can use your credit card. I dont trust the other stores. Also, stick to the cab companies that the ship recommends at the dock in foreign ports. They are more trustworthy and dont take the "extremely scenic route" that takes you in the bad part of town or 20 miles out of the way. Get cash out of the ATM your first day on the boat or from a bank ATM before you get on the boat. ATM's will be empty the last day. I have experienced that one to many times. There is always a "boat souvenere" (spelling bad) sale the last day on board. Go to the shows, they are great. I know that Simon on American Idol always bashed the cruise boat performers, but they are fun. Dont be afraid to ask you waiter for anything. I mean anything. One night on my Alaska cruise, they had the best french onion Soup I'd ever eaten in my life. I asked if I could have another, and he brought me one. Every night after that, he always asked if I wanted more soup. I would also get a cup of hot tea and add ice to it to make iced tea. I did this the first night, after that, he would have the hot Water and a cup of ice for me. I definatly agree with tipping the cabin steward the first night. We got tons of towel animals every night on my daughters bed. Oh and take the ship's galley tour. The kitchens and the prep are amazing. If you are planning to take some of the shore tours. Do it the moment that they are taking the reservations. The best ones go really quick. Most of all, have fun. Eat in the formal dinning room everynight, the pampering is spectacular. Oh and my thing with cruises is that I have a massage and facial in the spa every time I go. I do it the last day so I am extra relaxed. Formal gowns.. hmmm.. prom season wont be too terribly far way from Feb. Plus, the wedding dress shops have some nice ones. Get sunscreen and sun hats now while they are on sale. The ship will have a sail and sign card for on board purchase which can be tied to your credit card. I would use that for anything on board, drinks, trinkets, etc. Oh and carnival has a "soda card" where you can get all you can drink sodas for like $25 for the entire cruise. Are you going with kids? We took my daughter when she was 2.5 and she had a blast.

oh and i will say that i have never tipped the Matre'd in the formal dinning room. He never did anything for me. I gave good tips to the waitstaff. they work their behinds off. Now, a couple that we went on a cruise with had to deal with the Matre'd so that they could get the dinner seating they wanted one night, so, of course, then they tipped him
