Let the Joyous news be spread: New Jersey votes yes on Gay civil union!
wavydaby replied to Sunta's topic in The Lounge
Yes please, WITH OUT GOD, please show me a logical argument for why Gay marriage should not be allowed. Is it possible to give me a logical argument with out Him invovled? The argument as it stands right now is , "no cause God said so". For our constitution to stand, this is unacceptable. While I am saddend that His Law can not rule us, I am unbelievably happy that the rules of worship of Satan worshippers are not inforced (would chaos insue?), the rules of Muslim worshippers are inforced (as a woman, I'll be danged if I have to listen with out question to a man for anything), the rules of certain Christian sects that believe that medicine is the "devil" and God will cure you are not inforced (mm, I like my penicillin). You CAN NOT make a leap from gay marriage to animal marriage OR to polygamy. Our taxes, insurance and other legal precedents are based on a two party contract system. Think about that, hard. Off on another tangent: For the most part, inter-family marriages are prohibited due to genetic malformations double each time family memebers inter-marry. (i.e., the "blue people" in Kentucky and hemophiliacs in the royal family) Its fact and very easy to trace. I will agree that prohibiting people from getting married JUST based on the possiblities that genetic malformations is wrong. Why? As a woman ages, her eggs get old and the increase of Downs skyrockets. Should two people from differnt families who both have the sickle cell trait be barred from being married? No, that is an infringements of the right to pursue happiness. "Give me liberty or give me death" -
My best friend bought me this pj out fit that looked like a sack but with arm holes. It was flannel and very warm. I loved it cause even at 3 wks, my daughter managed to get all the covers off of her. Where overseas are they? Do they have the same baby goods for the same cheap prices there? Oh and a big heck yea for the diapers. $40 for a big ole box of pampers that I didnt have to buy made my day!

Not make a big deal?? NOT MAKE a BIG DEAL??? HELL YES MAKE A BIG DEAL! That is a totally unacceptable proceedure. I used to draw blood. Once you stick someone with a needled, the tip is blunted. It will not be a sharp. Once it is no longer sterile, it can be a breeding ground for germs. Seriously. It may not "look" like there is blood on it, but I can guarantee it does! He needs to be told to STOP THAT NOW!!!! What if he does damage to her port or to someone elses?? You dont need a $#ITTY dr!!!!!

Bertha Jenkins? Is that who you are thinking of? LV killed her

Mugglenet is awesome. They have a very nice archives of the books and JK's interviews. I dont think that Dumbledore and Snape were working together that closely. I do however think that the reason why Dumbledore trusted Snape is that Snape told Dumbledore what happened the night James and Lily were killed and it was Snape that brought Harry to safety. and JK has said in several interviews that Dumbledore is dead. period. In the Halfblood Prince, it is mentioned that Dumbledore was mad when he found out that Snape had done the UV(unbreakable vow) with Malfoy. I think the "look of hatred and revoltion" that Snape looked at Dumbledore with right before Snape did the Avada Kedavra was the hatred that Dumbledore was going to make him go thru with the UV and spare Malfoy from having to kill Dumbledore. I think that Snape thought Dumbledore was going to figure out a way to get him out of the UV. Oh and horcruxes are evil, Dumbledore would never do one. I do wonder if Dumbledore will "leave in his will" the phenoix to Harry. My fav book--- Goblet of Fire. Movie--- Prisoner of Askaban, but I have a idea that that will change to "Order" So, what where does everyone think the Horcruxes are? We have: The Locket... possibly that old heavy one found during the cleaning of Siruis' house during "Order" (RAB would make even more sence to be Regulus, Sirius' brother) And did Mundungus give it a "five finger discount"? The Diary(distroyed) The Ring(distroyed) The cup (stolen from the nice old lady witch) The snake(maybe, maybe not.. red herring???) Something of Gryffindor's or Ravenclaws WHere is everything else?? We know the locket was in the basin where LV possibly commited his "first" horrible act. The ring was hidden in the shack of his mothers home The diary was somehow in the posession of Lucious Malfoy. Is there anything else in the bowels of the Chamber? And if Sirius brother managed to find the locket, did he do it alone? Did he have the cup to drink from the basin to protect him from the potion??? And why yes, I am a HP geek

I am conscerned with the "institution" that people are trying to protect? The act of instituting. A custom, practice, relationship, or behavioral pattern of importance in the life of a community or society: the institutions of marriage and the family. If I remember correctly, there used to be a CUSTOM in New York where women would enter in to a marrage bond together to protect themselves. Mostly they were widowed or just women who had come together to help eachother out with raising children. I believe they were Brownstone Women. I cant find it on the net, I am not sure I am calling them correctly. Informal. One long associated with a specified place, position, or function. For example the Institution of the Church
An established organization or foundation, especially one dedicated to education, public service, or culture.
The building or buildings housing such an organization. A place for the care of persons who are destitute, disabled, or mentally ill So who's traditions and institutions are we trying to protect? The Church's? Who's Church has the last say? -

What I want to know is why the word "marriage" is carring so much weight? definition: **ANY close or intimate association or union: the marriage of words and music in a hit song. **a formal agreement between two companies or enterprises to combine operations, resources, etc., for mutual benefit; merger The state is allowing a "marriage". The state has allowed the "marriage" of Wachovia and Golden Coast It is not saying that the or a Church has to allow "holy matrimony" which to me is a totally different concept. Splitting hairs? yes. And I think thats the whole point. I agree with the people who agree with the Rev Billy Graham, that with all of the sins going on in this world, why is homosexuality more impt? Expecially with the fact that they are two consenting adults. I think adultery is a BIGGER sin, causes more problems, causes hate, causes pain and is, to me, more WRONG. Why dont we have stronger laws that prevent that? -
Ya know.. the little suckers vibrate like mad when you tickle them

I was pretty good at figuring out what singers were saying, but my Mom on the other hand, awful!!! The song "Amadeus" by Falco, they repeat "Rock me Amadeus" about a million times over and over, Well, my thought it was a Wendy's commerical saying "Eat me, hot potatoes" She didnt like the Go-Go's either, The song, We got the beat, she thought they said, "We'll get your meat" ie, "get some" Almost got beat one night while listening to "Take on me" on the radio, Conversation as follows" Mom-- "I like this song, who sings it" Me-- "Yea, its good, A-ha" (A-Ha is name of group) Mom-- "I said who sings this?!" (raising voice cause she thinks I am tuning her out) ME- "A-Ha" Mom-- (feverant cussing) "I SAID WHO SINGS THIS SONG, DONT IGNORE YOUR MOTHER!!!!" ME-- "A- HA,Mom, the name of the group is AHA, AAA-Hch-AAA, A-HA" Mom- "Oh, I thought you were ignoring me" Me- "I am now" Geez, Parents!!!!

Well, in NC, the only people who ride scooters are people who had their license revoked due to DUI, so the next time you see him, you can always ask him when he gets his license back. But, as far as what I would do? I would have probably said something evil.

The dreaded protein shakes and bars
wavydaby replied to Time2live's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
**Gets on her EAS shake podium** I love this stuff. Its ready to drink, not gritty, no aftertaste at all if you get the "real sugar" kind and limited aftertaste if you get the kind with an artificial sweetner. (and even then, I dont think there is an aftertaste, but those people with sensitive taste buds may care to argue that point) I drink, everyday for Breakfast, one of their shakes. (cause I hate to eat in the AM, not because of the band, just cause I dont like to cook breakfast in the morning) EAS has a "carb control" brand you can get in wal-mart and some grocery stores (bi-lo and Lowes' foods) Now, I have only tried once, the powder that they make, but I blended the heck out of it with ice and milk and had no gritty issues/ The drink I had this morning was the coffee Cafe Caramel. The stats: Cal: 110 Fat: 3g Carb: 3g (one Fiber, one sugar, one "other") Protien: 15g To me, unflavored unjury is good in small amounts because I get an "old milk" aftertaste with it if I use too much. But thats me **gets off of podium, looks for check from EAS** -
No, I knew what you were saying, but I mean that I think too many people still think that respect for some people to others that are different imply that they must feel pity towards the people different from them.

Ok, you have to share the butt crunch excercise secret!!!
-
I had to share this. The beginning of August I was enrolled in our corporate diversity two day class, manditory class. (ugh, I hate everyone with equal opportunity) So I go and we are learning skills to greet people with differences and not to ignore differences. Ok, I buy that. We were all asked at one point to share a discrimination. We had a couple of African American men and women to share their stories, a couple of homosexual people, a couple of women who were discriminated against by men.. you know the drill. So I shared my "I'm fat" discrimination story. Get this, the freaks who were TEACHING the class, said, "oh, well, mm, next story" All of the other stories got, "oh so sorry" and "class, what should we do to help over come this type of discrimination". So being fat and discriminated against is not as impt as being gay or black. Just wanted everyone to know. And yes, I let them have it on the evaluations and wrote a letter to our training dpt.

Erin, yea, I kinda think of it as the same thing. But I guess its in how you phrase it and time it. But, please if you ask someone to host, and they say, I dont know or let me think about it, let it go. My fav pampered chef lady would mention it once to the group about parties and sales, then would talk to each person one on one when they placed their order, away from the rest of the group. to answer questions in a more quiet atmosphere. Also, she would fill out the address section and stuff of the order form for you and ask you the "sales questions".
-
Personally, I hate the "introduce yourself" games. I like the more "trivial pursuit" games, and no, not about the product that the hostess was selling. Any game that gets me a prize, I am for. (like my pampered chef lady would give out those cheepy paring knives or orange peelers. useful, but cheep on the seller) The thing about home parties I hate the most is when the product rep would be "pushy for the hostess". By this I mean, if you all buy $XXX amount of stuff, your FRIEND can get blah-de-blah for free. Dont you want your FRIEND to get this nice expensive thing for free?" You are her friend arent you". I know they wouldnt exactly say that, but dang, thats how I felt cause I had to hear, "Parties that sell over $X amount have hostesses get $X for free" I know that you have to encourage people to buy stuff, but dont make it feel like if i only bought the $3 peeler that I was a crappy friend.
