    October 2022 surgery support

Anyone other October surgery individuals still in their dreaded stall? Mine has lasted 3.5 weeks! Doing everything I'm supposed to be. I might be snacking too late at night, but I'm still around 900-1100 calories. Very, very low sugar and/or carbs. Mostly in the forms of soft veggies, and a little coffee creamer. Anyone else's stall taking forever to pack it's luggage and leave town?!?!

    I have hit a Plateau...

I'm at a stall too. A pretty frustrating one. It started 2 weeks after surgery and has lasted 3 weeks! I'm walking, lifting small weights, staying below 1200 calories, eating well......and I want this stall to be over!
  3. I think snacking is sabotaging my weight loss too. I'm not hungry and I am 5 weeks out from surgery. I stopped losing weight. I know people say there always a plateau or stall, but mine has been 3.5 weeks long! Still only tracking 900-1100 calories per day, and going on walks, but the scale isn't moving.

    October 2022 surgery support

We ran into a snag on Monday morning. The AC at the surgery center had broken overnight. It was fixed. but they were waiting for the humidity to down in the operating room. They ended up postponing every one to Tuesday, so we stayed San Antonio one more night and my surgery was yesterday. I'm in alot of pain. The Tylenol 3 isn't cutting it Hope they call me today to check up on me and I can ask for something. Last night, I was able to keep water and gatoraide down, but this morning, I can't keep anything down. Hoping Day 2 is the worst!.

    September 2022 surgery buddies

Hello MaimiJoe, so you had surgery, and then 4 days later you had a hurricane?!!? Praying that you weren't directly affected. How's it going for you?
  7. My BMI is 33.5 with diabetes (controlled), slight sleep apnea and a big family history of heart disease. I'm definitely having sleeve surgery (Oct 26th) to be proactive at this point. My doctor didn't even blink at my BMI with my co-morbidity, and even mentioned that the Bariatric Society or team of directors and doctor and seriously considering lowering the approved BMI to be 30 or above with co-morbidity. My doctor said my diabetes would completely reverse itself after surgery (again, I am on the lower side being diabetic with an A1C of 5.9) I am self-pay, however, and did not have to worry about insurance approval. BEST OF LUCK!
  8. Post op question here: I am sampling some of the Meal Replacement shakes that my doctor provided for after surgery, but they produce a lot of bubbles and foam when I mix them in a shaker cup. i know we're advised against carbonated drinks, but are these bubbles and foam okay for after surgery? It's enough to produce burping for me. Should I shake it and let it sit in the refrigerator until the bubbles dissipate before consuming?
  9. Thank you all so much for the replies!! 🙂

    October 2022 surgery support

I'm done with all my pre-op appointments and requirements. Just waiting for the doctor's scheduler to call me to get me on schedule. I spoke to my patient coordinator who said October 26th is still open for surgery appointments, so fingers crossed it's on that day. My sister, who recently had lower gastro surgery, had to give up caffeine after surgery for a few months, and had terrible withdrawal headaches in additional to surgery pain. She recommended I switch to decaf coffee way before surgery. Just thought I'd share this piece of advice. 🙂 Best of Luck to all us October surgeries!

New Here and Planning Surgery in October

Hello New Beginnings! I am planning for an October sleeve, myself. My co-worker got his sleeve in December 2021, and has lost 75 pounds. He looks great and says he feels absolutely fantastic and healthy. He definitely stated the pre-op diet was rough, and admitted to sneaking in a few forbidden foods, here and there. I don't recommend THAT, but if you happen to slip up, I think you'll be okay. I have already started trying out new high protein shakes, soups, protein water, and even squeezable pack high protein smoothies, so I'll be ready with what I like/tastes good and so I won't get bored. PS Where in TX are you? I'm in Austin. 🙂
