    Questions about MMJ use.

I dont smoke myself but my friend smokes and she has gastric bypass done 3 years ago, she said she waited until she was on the full diet mainly because she wanted to make sure she got use to the amounts she could eat, the amount of times including snacks everything just because she didn't want to get high near a meal time and tale a few bites to many... she figured once her was in a routine of all that it would be easier for her to maintain her portions and smoke as needed, her biggest fear was taking even 2-3 more bites then supposed to because that made her hurt, uncomfortable and sometimes throw up, and she was afraid of eating faster then she was supposed to because her time is off when she's high and that causes the same symptoms as too much food for her.... She saids she's been smoking again for a few years now, and would just suggest you be very careful when you start back up because even if you feel you have everything under control now, and don't normally get certain types of highs your whole body system is changing not just your stomach.... her highs changed after and you just need to watch for that, and be very careful when your stomach is still healing. Other then that everyone is different and handles things differently, if you try and you do fine great if you try and feel you need to wait longer by all means do what's best for you [emoji6] Sent from my SM-G996U using BariatricPal mobile app
  2. I haven't tried any yet, I really want to, but my team suggested waiting until I'm about 2 months post op before trying crunchy vegetables... so I'm in the same place as you right now ... Sent from my SM-G996U using BariatricPal mobile app

That's smart, I went and got a 2oz sauce cup lol and would try to drink one every 1p min but my biggest problem was that it hurt even with the smallest sipps, and I'd feel full almost to the point of getting sick so I'd have to stop, I changed it to 2oz threw out 15-w0 min, sane thing but I'm now doing better with that, still not above 40oz a day but definitely getting better, and my primary doctor has had me set up for 2 bags if fluids 1-2 days a week since it happened, I'm very grateful for that, she said we will discontinue the fluid appointments when I can drink at least 55-68 oz of water a day .... 5. That's awesome, thats how I think to ... everything in moderation, I was off burgers and greasy foods as well as little to no salt because 1 trying to loose weight before surgery, and 2 my mom has a bad stomach, as well as healthy conditions and can't eat alot of stuff and we usually eat together several times a week.... I think my biggest thing was it was real food, that I enjoyed (and was still pretty healthy) but I haven't had a bite of real food in 5 weeks between pre op diet and post op diet [emoji28] I am hoping I get a salad soon, I need to look up how long after surgery they say before I should be able to eat raw vegetables again... My dad has suggested since it's something I'm craving now. To Pick a goal, weather it be a scale number, a time frame, a outfit to fit into.... and make that as my reward lol but I'm trying to make it to where food is no longer a reward, and more of just fuel Sent from my SM-G996U using BariatricPal mobile app
  6. True, and I should have stayed home, I just missed 2 family get together already and missed everyone, so i thought I'd be ok since I didn't eat the pizza and things from there before.... and honestly didn't think I would miss salad that much, but I think it's more the being able to eat anything regular food wise... because had I been on regular foods and raw vegetables and everything I could have gotten something healthy and been good, but yeah I'm pretty sure it's more the missing just regular food in general, although they do have an awesome salad bar lol Sent from my SM-G996U using BariatricPal mobile app

    Nerves

I'm a single mom of a 5 year old and that was my biggest concern, and terrified she would be placed with her bio dad that she doesn't know, she scared of men she doesn't know, so the thought of her being forced into a house where she doesn't know anyone and her being terrified of the person who's supposed to be her primary parent .... I cried several times just thinking about it.... but I did what I needed to, to help things, I went to local child advocate and asked her if I could pay to retain her just incase, so that my child had an impartial person speaking for her that the judge couldn't ignore.... she refused to take any payment, but took my information and surgery date, as well as my parents information.... she had me call her with in 3 days of my surgery, she said I'd I dudnt call she would file with children's services to be her legal representative.... so that she could legally call my parents as well as start the process to get them full sole custody.... it actually made me feel better I know that was long but my only point is do anything you think will help your peace of mind even of it seems like to much, it can really help your mindset going in and coming out. I'm very glad I did it ..... but I really want a salad lol Sent from my SM-G996U using BariatricPal mobile app
  8. I'm just curious anyone els sad they can't eat certain things? I'm not sad about the things most people ask me about, I was prepared and not eating things like burgers, anything deep fried ect.... right now I'm sad about not being able to eat a salad, we have this pizza place in town with an amazing salad bar, my family and I would usually eat there 2-3x a month, and I always got the salad bar, I didn't realize how much I'd miss that right now .... everyone went today, and I went because I thought it would be fine, I talked to the manager and since they don't have anything I can eat right now (still on pureed tell monday) they said I could bring in my own dish. Especially when they saw how small the container was so I wouldn't feel like I was missing out on not eating with everyone, so I made a deviled egg salad.... I was so sad seeing the salad bar and knowing it will be a while before I can have any raw veggies [emoji30].... I might set the next one out .... Sent from my SM-G996U using BariatricPal mobile app

Thank you everyone I appreciate the support so much, I know after I got home I felt so defeated and I was questioning if I was being overly sensitive or not.... but after hearing from all of you, as well as my primary care doctor being very upset at the situation, I feel a little better about it not being me that caused this .... and my primary care doctor has put in my charts now that anytime I go in for fluids I'm to get 2 bags minimum regardless before being discharged, and the medical director has signed off on it. I'm so grateful to have a doctor that's willing to go the extra mile for me... and to be apart of such a wonderful supportive community on here Sent from my SM-G996U using BariatricPal mobile app
  10. I've suggested this to others as well, but this is the after beriatric surgery book my hospital gives us and it's amazing, I was so surprised to see so many people going into different stages lost about what to eat, so I definitely suggest it to anyone who doesn't have specific instructions from there doctors, it even has a shopping list page for entering the soft food stage, definitely worth a look, it's a pdf you can get from Google I put in a link https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=https://www.ohsu.edu/sites/default/files/2021-05/OHSU-Health-After-Bariatric-Surgery-Nutrition.pdf&ved=2ahUKEwj5743qsM_6AhV8EkQIHYDdBQYQFnoECBYQAQ&usg=AOvVaw2f1Jo4y-xc-It0KRJzFcyc Sent from my SM-G996U using BariatricPal mobile app

    4 weeks post op

One of my friends who had sleeve surgery years ago had the same symptoms( she's here and read with me because I was showing her this app lol) but she had that issue about 2 months after her surgery and they took out her gallbladder and she said with in 2 weeks she felt 100x better, so she hopes it gos as well for you.... also her doc prescribed her a 3 day neasua patch (4pk) that she used to help her with her intake until her gallbladder surgery so maybe ask about that to help, and do not be afraid to ask for IV fluids to help, they can give you 2 bags at a time without having to worry about electrolyte dilution Sent from my SM-G996U using BariatricPal mobile app
  12. I have sleep Apnea and I know they had me bring my machine to the hospital with me. And they set it up in my room, the night I was there I didn't even notice I was wearing my machine because of how tierd I was between the pain meds and the extra groggy feeling from the anastasia I slept pretty hard.... I do tolerate my machine pretty well, but I have had it for about a year and a half or so now. It definitely took me at least 6 months to really adjust to it... mine does have a small water tank, and I have a few different masks I've tried before I found the one I'm comfortable with and use each night..... I do know several people that have had either the sleeve or a bypass done who had sleep Apnea, but didn't need there machine for more then 6-8 months after surgery .... each person is different but I'll keep my fingers crossed for you and I too Congratulations on your surgery date. 13. I didnt have hardly any das pain, but my doctor had me get simethicone, witch is pretty much just gas-x but make sure you get a brand that has very small pills (size of a regular m&m or smaller) or chewable, she had them give me one in the hospital shortly after I got to my room, and I was told I could have them every 4 or 6 hours I can't remember..... but I'm thinking that must have helped me because I only had pain in my stomache from the incision line.... but the hospital was very good at keeping me at a low pain level... If your doctor offers a nerve block.... take it! Better to be safe then sorry.... alot of doctors have it standard and don't ask just include it in the paperwork you sign to authorize for surgery, and you have to say you dont want it, some specifically ask if you want one.... the only people I've heard say they wished they'd have chosen different are the ones that opted not to have it ....
