I had my first fill TODAY.
missnikkie0514 replied to curvesincali's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I had my surgery on 8/29/08 and I had my first fill on yesterday! Everything went well. It was really less than I thought it would be. I guess I had worked myself up for nothing but it was seemless!! However, I only received 2cc's and I had a thought as I lay on the table that I should have asked for more because I absolutely have NO RESTRICTION I feel the same. I know that it will take a little time to get to the "sweet spot" but I was hoping for a little restriction. I have to wait for the next one which will be 10/20 I can't wait. But I am cleared to work out starting today so I am excited about that so that I can see these numbers on the scale moving down.....I am satisfied thus far with my 19 pound weight loss since surgery. But would be even happier with more!!! :girl_hug: -
Those are also symptoms of blood clots. I am speaking from experience and those are really dangerous. If you continue to experience that you should be checked out right away!!! I had a blood clot form in my leg(went untreated) and broke off and traveled to my lungs (pumonary embolism)which I am very lucky to be alive because normally those are fatal!!! Good luck!!

missnikkie0514 replied to 1GirlNamedTiff's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my surgery 2 DAYS AGO on 8/29/08, I had a rough night on Friday and little sore yesterday but woke up this morning feeling a lot better!! After reading some posts I also was very concerned about pain and recovery but I am doing well. The only thing I think that I may have to dilute my juice because it makes my stomach hurt a little bit. Any suggestions on how to get your protein intake in on the first week of clear liquids>? -
flowerpurr, how much weight have you lost since your surgery date of 7/15?
-
Good job!! My surgery date is August 29th!!! I can't wait!!!! I hope that I have a speedy recovery!!

I'm not certain what this means but I believe that it means that there are psychological issues affecting your weight loss. Such as being an emotional eater, etc. I would contact the dr and find out exactly what that means.

8/13/08 This is my first post on this website. I am excited to start my journey with weight loss and into a new world! My life will never ever be about BEING FAT AGAIN!!!! I received the best news that I was approved by BCBS-NJ yesterday. I couldn't have been more excited. I should have my surgery within the next 4-5 weeks. I am waiting for the day now. I can't believe this is finally a reality for me!! So here is my story...in 2002 tipping the scales at 308 I vowed never to get any bigger. I went to Great America and was embarrassed when I couldnt' fit on the one ride I wanted to ride. The raging bull. So I began an exercise program on my own and I worked out 6 times a week, 2 times a day 45 mins to an hour each time. I lost 50 lbs from 3/1-6/1/02 as the time went on I continued to lose and eventually got down to 243 from 308. I maintained for about a year trying to reach my goal of 170-175 but it never became a reality. So as the time went on my weight started to rise . And nothing worked any longer. So here I am today 8/13/08, 330 pounds  and I will NEVER EVER see that number again:rolleyes2:. I should have my surgery by mid September. I CAN'T WAIT!!!!

No I didn't give up on my program. I have been up and down for years. And researched and thought about this surgery back in 2003 and finally tired of going back and forth up and down. Also because I have gained weight I can't exercise like I used too. 2 times a day 6 x's a week.

QUESTION for anyone, When you had your surgery how many days were you stuck to the bed and when did you return back to work>? I am just curious if I have my surgery on a Thursday will I be able to return to work by the following Monday? -
:w00t:I am new to posting threads on lapbandtalk.com but I have been reading the many stories and experiences that each person has to offer. I received the best news that I could hear yesterday 8/12/08. I was approved for surgery!!! My ride has not been that difficult with the insurance (Horizon BCBS NJ) but it was very nerve wrecking to say the least. I was doing the diet program on my own when I had my first seminar. So I completed 6 months in February 2008. June 28 - Seminar done July 25 - Consult with Dr. Paul Guske @ The Kane Center in Arlington Heights, Illinois  July 19 - Sleep Study completed  July 29 - Psych Evaluation completed  July 29 - submitted 6 MONTH diet and all other paperwork to insurance. August 12- received a phone call that my insurance APPROVED  MY SURGERY!!!! Now awaiting my surgery date!!! Which should be between 9/8-9/19 which is not that far away!!! I can't wait!!! I am so estatic!!!:rofl::thumbup: I am so ready to finally be happy. I know this is going to be hard work but I m determined and I WILL SUCCEED WITH FLYING COLORS!!!! :crying: September Superstars :rofl: Nicole

I have BCBS-NJ and I submitted my paperwork to them on 7/29/08 via fax to a supervisor I had been dealing with. I was told it would take 7-10 business days since they were marking it priority. Well it actually took 2 weeks to the date and I was calling everyday for the last 4 days. I am glad to say I was APPROVED!!!
