I stall about every 3 weeks or so. It does pass if you stay on plan.

Anyone else doing this in their 60's?
Teresa Eschenbaum posted a topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Hi all! I am 5 weeks out of bypass surgery and will turn 61 tomorrow. The healing process has been easier than I expected. I initially went in to get help with my hiatal hernia and severe acid reflux. Long story short, my surgeon told me that bypass would be the best answer for me. I was recently diagnosed as a diabetic and have high BP. Both of those are so much better that I am off my diabetes meds already and hoping my BP meds will be reduced soon. I go for a follow up with my dr. next week. I am hoping to get cleared to do more exercising than just walking. My sister-in-law wants me to join her doing some high intensity workouts with an online program she belongs to. She is very fit already (she is a kick ass police officer) so I have some catching up to do! I want to strengthen my arms, legs and abs to get ready for golf season. I am an avid golfer, not the best in our league but I only started a few years ago. Very competitive chick here! When I went for a group meeting (others going through the same surgery) with the nutritionist a couple weeks before surgery, I was by far the oldest one in the room which I was just fine with. Just wondering if there are any more of you out there in my age group that are also on this journey. -
How long to see improvement?

I had the bypass with hiatal hernia repair and the pain reduced after about a week. The energy was lacking for a couple of weeks. -

Anyone have the hiatal hernia repair with gastric bypass?
Teresa Eschenbaum replied to PaperFlowers's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I had hiatal hernia repair during my bypass surgery. I had it done February 7th. I have had very little pain and not having any reflux has been amazing! I haven't felt this good in 6 to 7 years! Good luck to you! -
I finally got a surgery date of Feb. 7th. It has been an interesting journey! I initially went to a doctor to see what could be done for my severe GERD. I have been battling it for about 6 years and I now have a raw throat all of the time. I had a scope done and it showed I also had a hiatal hernia. My doctor referred me to a surgeon. At the meeting with the surgeon he told me that as severe as my hiatal hernia, GERD/reflux is that the best surgery option is gastric bypass. I was a little hesitant but after talking to him for about an hour I understood why this is the best option. After meeting with a nutritionist and getting my psychiatrist eval done I finally got my surgery approved from my insurance. Just wondering if there are any of you getting the same surgery done in Feb.?

February 2023 surgery dates!
Teresa Eschenbaum replied to Erin18's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You have come to the right place for questions! It is normal to be nervous but just curious on why you didn't need any prelimiary visits with nutritionist, psych eval etc.? -
So depressed about my hair

When did everyone's hair loss begin after surgery? I am almost 2 weeks post op and haven't seen any loss yet but I am sure it will probably come. -

I am one week post op and still have no interest in food. I really have to work at getting the protein in. I go for my first follow up today so I am hoping to go to the pureed stage. -

My surgery went very well! I was up and walking on my own by the end of the day. Kept ahead of the pain thanks to my wonderful nurses. I thought I was super woman until we headed home (2 1/2hrs) and the bolus they gave me during surgery wore off and I wasn't ahead of it. We stopped so I could walk and take some of the meds they gave me. Got home and got some ice packs going. That first night at home was the best night's sleep I had had in years! No regrets here! -

I had mine Feb 7th for severe GERD and hiatal hernia. I agree that I never thought it could be fixed! So nice to be able to sleep without being propped up and drinking antacid all night long.
