I thought zero alcohol beer was a solution. Now understand that carbonation might be a big challenge. Can I hear about your experiences with carbonated beer. Does it ever get normal? What month post surgery did you try? Will I be able to drink a cool beer at the beach?

Lost 47lbs from 2022 mid summer high point and 30lbs since 9/12/22 sleeve surgery. Had doubts on doing the surgery given my age (69) and 36.7 bmi but received a lot of encouragement from fellow travelers. The most difficult part for me is recognizing that eating will never be the same. I can’t physically eat a lot and now get satiated with very little. This is very different from how I lived. I would always eat a lot. Some foods taste differently and since my eyes are still larger than my stomach I tend to leave food on my plate. If I eat too much or too quickly, dumping is a real threat. The other challenge is staying hydrated. I don’t get enough water from food (fruits and salads) and need to constantly have a water bottle nearby and remember to use it. This has been a struggle. After 3 months these are my key issues. Overall the weight loss and general good feeling compensate any challenges. Would love to hear from + 6 or 12 months fellow travelers. Does taste improve? Can quantity increase to allow for salad and veggies? Does hydration improve? Thanks.

3 months post op status and questions

Thanks for your insight. I thought I dumped. Without getting too graphic, when I overeat or eat too quickly I get a strong feeling of nausea that is only relieved after a heave/ho. Once I’ve expelled even the smallest quantity, I’m good again. This has happened x 5 in 3 months. -
I'm 69 and have a BMI of 36. Been gaining weight continuously my adult life. I'm OK'd for sleeve surgery mid september. Can anyone with a similar age and BMI tell me their experience. Do you regret making the decision this late in life. Have the post op diet restrictions felt like a sacrifice. Did the 30% weight loss offset those the diet changes. Any insight that would help me make a more informed decision is appreciated. Thank you

Had the surgery on 9/12. Also had serious doubts having this at 69 yrs. In my case believe it was worthwhile, at least up to this point. BP med no more. Pre diabetic no more. I’ve lost 14lbs since surgery and a total of 30 lbs since pre op diet. My relationship to food has changed, albeit by force. If I can get to my target weight of 185 lbs and stay on it then it’s definitely worth it. Today, I believe it’s achievable. -
Reached 1 month post sleeve. Nothing tastes good. After second tablespoon I start to feel full and lightly nauseated. Does this get better?

I had surgery on 9/12 and it took 2 months after meeting with the surgeon. Key dates in addition to the medical tests were visit with the Nutritionist and getting approval by insurance. My psychologist was a 30 minute zoom. -
