    Anyone Out There?!?

Since you have anthem, it will cost you nothing but your copays. Any other insurance and they require $4000 up front, but not with anthem. They're a great group. I have had no complaints with them at all.
  2. It depends on your doc. Mine had specifics written out. For example, the amount I paid covered everything including fills and follow up for a year. I don't have it with me, but I think it covered slips for 2 years except I would have to pay the anesthesia fee.
  3. I was released to drive after 24 hours. I only had Advil for pain so they said I could drive the next day. I also told noone except my husband about my band. I have 3 teenagers and they don't even know. It did require some sucking it up and acting completely normal on my part though.
  4. I wish my preop diet was Atkins. It's a low carb liquid diet for a week...ewww.
  5. Thanks for the welcome. It was Iatetheskinnyme that has to do the 2 week pre op diet. I have to do a one week. not particularly looking forward to that.

    Kentucky, "who's your Doctor"

I'm being banded on 9/17 by Dr Olsafka at St Mary and Elizabeth's in Louisville.
  7. Hey Lisa! I'm Denise. I'm from Indiana too and I'm being banded in Louisville KY on 9/17. We'll be Hoosier Losers together.
  8. I found out my first appt is Wednesday with Dr Olsafka. From there, we'll schedule preop testing and surgery. Anybody have Dr Olsafka???
  9. Anybody self pay at st Mary's and Elizabeths in Louisville? Please tell me about your experiences. Denise
  10. The greatest risks of "dying on the table" would be a reaction to the anesthesia which is rare but does happen. I believe the day to day risks of obesity are much higher.
  11. I just attended my seminar on Monday and overnighted all my paperwork today. Surgeon's nurse said with my insurance, she didn't think it would be a problem...keeping my fingers crossed. denise
  12. That's what I'm worried about too. My BMI is 53.3, but I just had a physical and b/p was normal. Cholesterol was 160. Blood sugar was 80, etc. Of course, I've been morbidly obese for the past 25 years so hopefully, insurance won't act stupid.
  13. You can talk with your surgeon. I am doubting that anyone will do it, but it would definitely be possible. We do c sections and tubals via epidural anesthesia. There can't be anymore tugging with the lap band than there is with a c section or tubal.
