Sleeve Oct 2024. Band remove March 2024. Did all pre & post instructions, After solid eat stage I can eat large amounts of food without feeling full. For example, 3 turkey wraps with cheese and lettuce, had a T Bone for Thanksgiving. I'm stalled right now and don't know if drinking more water will help. Dr said need to loss 15% the first 3 months which is 56lbs, I'm only at 10%. With the band I could feel the restriction up high but now it's like relearning how to feel full, it's in my belly not my throat like before. I wish doctor would have use a smaller bougie, he uses 40's Last visit the nutritionist said "He does not do revisions" like to warn me. 383 start now 344 Need to be 325 by this month.

I see were I'm getting off track and my mindset has changed since early recovery. Thanks for reminding me of the basics of the "whole" reality of having this done. A reset is in order and a mental one is most important. Thank you!
-
Thanks, it passed without coming up. I guess I'm still getting use to the feeling of being full with the sleeve. I now know how it feels and when to stop. Start puree today after Dr. visit.
-
I ate too much this morning, yogurt and cottage cheese. Feel like I could throw up, can I should I ? Will I hurt my sleeve?
-
Start full liquids today. I read one person say restrictions don't really show up until your on regular food again.
-
Sleeve done Sept 5th, sipping everything no problem. Feel no restriction thus far on clears. Monday I start full liquids. I do feel a slight fullness with 3 oz of water lower down I guess in my new pouch.
-
Sleeve Sept 5th and need to know which supplements and vits folks are taking. It's hard to find a one a day or all in one.
-
Thank you, you have lost 52lbs in 2 weeks? Pre and post diet? Still on liquids?
-
My understanding is hydration is primary concern 1st week. Sip sip sip all clears no protein until 5 days out?
-
Talked with surgeon Monday 8/26. Asked all kinds of questions about restriction and hunger. He assures me I won't be hungry and he uses a 40 bougie so not like some with 30-36. I just hoping I can get thru the 1st week post op.
-
Is that restriction normal or does it depend on size of the sleeve? My doctor is going with a 40. I start my liver shrinking diet tomorrow. I loss almost 12 lbs last time.
-
Band removed in March surgery in Sept. Started in 2008 with first band.
-
I didn't know it was a pouch per say but I guess it is with the small turn at top of stomach.
-
Thank you, with the band I lost 100 lbs but blow it out by overeating. Throwing up causing slips etc. I want to feel some restriction and hoping it will be better for hunger that part of stomach is removed.
-
Just received surgery date Sept 5th. Super nervous. Had band removed in March, had 3 total. Question? How does it feel in terms of restriction? I'm totally aware of how the band felt but does the sleeve have restriction or more of a full feeling and less hunger? I'm really nervous since I don't plan on having another type bypass in the future, I hope.

March 2024 Surgery Buddies!
Edward replied to Pines's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm going to jump in here and say my insurance is making me go to (4) once a month primary doctor visits for nutritional counseling before I can move forward with Sleeve after my Band removal March 26th. Psych Eval next month so it won't be until end of July before surgery. Doctor says no pain from staples but some people have nausea. My ex-port site was only pain from surgery, no gas. Is he correct? Does anyone have pain inside at staples? -
He said after "You're a big fella" which translates to me he had a little trouble with scaring after 10 yrs and the port needed to be cut out which is the only pain I have. Huge scare on belly. Came out of anesthesia better then ever, I believe not asking for pain meds helped with recovery. I did take them to rest at home after. May start a new thread about pain level after sleeve as in do you feel the stable pain of just incisions.
-
I have seen many videos of the revision and all do the band removal and sleeve in same surgery. Why is my doctor not doing this? Is he not good enough to do it? The scare tissue removal is just extra time and procedure and to check for hernia. Should I be getting a second opinion? Last visit he never tried a fill or see if it leaked or fluoroscope, just said let's take it out. I just hate to do all the fasting and being put under twice if not needed.

March 2024 Surgery Buddies!

Band removed 3/26. Sleeve to follow. Good to see a fellow Floridian here (TinyBINK). Eating slower is a challenge, I try to eat with someone around which is not easy, It makes me more aware somehow. New learned behavior is just that LEARNED. My band failed because I couldn't learn. Now I believe I can do it, it takes a lot of mental ability to learn something new as we get older. -
OMG! So glad it takes 2 surgeries. Band removed @7am today took 90 minutes due to scare tissue etc. Not much gas pain but port site is very sore. Now wait 2 months and Sleeve. Note: Liver strinking diet I lost 20lbs. 393 to 373.

March 26th Band removal, wait two months then Sleeve. The liver shrinking took a few days to get use to but have lost 12lbs, Mostly water I'm guessing. I like the Whey 30g chocolate, the Premier plant based 25g is nasty but doable. I find one meal, protein ,one pork chop, one piece of chicken with some legumes, mozzarella cheese, sardines and romaine lettuce has helped. End of day is great for hunger since not real hungry during the day. It is so incredible how carbs have ruined me. So addicted to them. Now I hope I will never go back to white rice, white potatoes, pasta, or bad breads. From 397 to 385 and I feel it, -

Lap Band removal March 26 then wait a few months for Sleeve. I have had 3 surgery's and each time the gas pain is the worst part. I have to roll on my side and walk to get the gas out. Left shoulder pain as well. -
Band replaced in 2014 so yes 10yr mark and weight gain and no restriction what so ever at this point. Have 14cc band and supposedly I'm at 6cc. He is very cautious will fills. His bed side matter is great but where I live there are not a lot of experts. May go see my original surgery one hour away as he is now in a big group with lots of experts. I have a suspicion that the tube got punctured at my last fill since it took forever to find the port with the needle. He did mention scare tissue, healing, my history of slips etc. Maybe I'm over thinking it. Thanks so much.
