  1. Hi all, I was on the forums last year for the gastric sleeve in Turkey but decided to wait a year & see if I could lose the weight naturally. Safe to write that I lost nothing & gained a lot more! I am having my gastric sleeve surgery with APERA (went to them for a rhinoplasty last year & they were excellent) so I’m not nervous about the operation.. more the discomfort of the gas & pain afterwards. Could someone please let me know the stages you go through with food consistencies, please?
  2. Thanks, Raisn. I hadn’t considered nausea after the anaesthetic even though I’ve experienced that before. Are you up & about more now?
  3. Thanks, Tufflaw. How long was it before the gas pain dissipated for you?
  4. Yes, a lot of posters are suggesting walking. Makes sense as the air would rise & come out somehow! How long was it before the gas wasn’t there anymore?
  5. Thanks, LookingForward. I’m going to write this down & ask for the medical staff to let me have these. How are you doing now?
  6. I’ve been told by my clinic that I can’t take anything in with me & that they’ll supply any meds needed. I might sneak a packet in anyway to have at the hotel afterwards! 😅
  7. Hi, Suze. This is my fear as I have a low pain threshold. Glad to read that you’re doing better now.
  8. Gosh, it sounds like you went through quite an ordeal. I’m sure you’re looking forward to a smaller frame so that it is less painful for you. How is the curve now? Better? I sleep on my front so I’m going to struggle with getting used to being on my back. I guess it’s a small price to pay!
  9. Thanks for the reply, Tomo. Are you allowed the Mylanta mini tabs straight after surgery to help with the gas pains? Seems like this is the main issue with a lot of sleevers post-op & I’ll get some if it helps, thanks!
  10. Seems like it’s one or the other & there’s no way of knowing until you go in. Eek!
  11. Hi, Laura. Thanks for replying! Glad to read that all has gone smoothly for you, it puts my mind at ease. Did you find the return flight ok with the pain etc?
  12. Thanks, guys. I’ve had a recommendation of peppermint tea from another forum user & thought I would share that with you all. Sounds like the pain is there but manageable with meds so I’m feeling less anxious about the surgery date approaching.
  13. Thank you for the replies! It’s good to read from people who have actually had the surgery. I’ve been putting this surgery off for two years because of the nerves & was scared after reading Reddit posts. This forum has alleviated my fear. 😊
  14. I have my operation at the end of next month & am reading horror stories about the post-operative pain from a gastric sleeve surgery. Can any post-ops share their experience of what the pain feels like, how bad it is & how they dealt with it, please?

Thanks, VickySue! My surgery date is 27th September so less than 5 weeks. Have you got your surgery date yet?
