I have a horrible needle phobia and I can honestly say it doesn't hurt when done right. I had a big experience initially and ended up getting my first fill from a different doc. She sprayed something cold over me to numb the area, which was perfect to me b/c I didn't want a needle to numb the area. I felt absolutely nothing other than a weird pressure. You'll be good. Good luck with everything.

Another movie I just thought of was Baby Cakes. I think that's what it was called w/Ricki Lake. I hated the part where the girlfriend beat up Ricki Lake's character. I can't stand watching that part. And I know this isn't a movie, but Growing Pains was one of my favorite shows growing up. I never really noticed when I was a kid, but watching it in reunions I noticed that they really gave Carol (Tracy Gold) a hard time. It doesn't shock me she got an eating disorder.

What's Eating Gilbert Grape really got to me too..That was so sad. It was a really good movie though.

Also, my doc gave me Bariatric website, that had vitamins that included the proper amount of everything. If I can find it I will post it. I am sure there are tons of those sites though.

I've been also using the Centrum Chewables. In addition, I also take calcium pills, iron, and B-12, biotin when I remember. I would suggest checking with your doc, but that is what my aftercare doc suggested. I added the Biotin myself.

Here is the Diane Sawyer interview.... http://abcnews.go.com/GMA/OnCall/story? id=3481336&page=1&GMA=true 12 to me just seems to young. I could see 16 or maybe even 15. One of my bestfriends was overweight in elementary school and by maybe 7th grade she was at a normal weight. She was a lot more active in middle school and joined sports.

I didn't think that Norbit was funny either. It didn't have anything to do w/the fat jokes though. Another movie that comes to mind was Shallow Hal. I thought it was funny.

Yesterday, I went to Vitamin World and got some Muscle Milk Light. They had it on sale so I bought 2 packs of the chocolate. I really wish I had just bought one. I personally didn't like it. It does have 20 grams of Protein per serving which is good. It was completely disgusting, but I heard so much about it I thought it would be better. I was doing the low carb slim fast which is really good. I think that also has 20 grams of carbs. I have only tried the chocolate.

Drove 2.5 Hours and FillUSA called to cancel

I just wanted to comment about my experience w/the Roswell location yesterday. I had a great experience. Darlene and the rest of the staff were very nice and put me right at ease. I hate they are so far away from me. For anyone else that's going, the e-mail from fillcentersusa said the fluro had to be paid w/cash or check. They were actually taking credit cards for everything.. -
My initial aftercare doc suggested I either that a pill daily or get the injection. I asked my general practioner and she said that she didn't think the shot was necessary. She said to just continue taking the pill. Before I starting taking the B-12 she did a blood test to check my levels. I still haven't gotten the results yet.

Unrealistic Recovery Expectations?
skyeblu79 replied to mermaidpuppy's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Everyone seems to be so different. I didn't have a lot of pain after surgery. I was just really tired. I had surgery on Tuesday and I was supposed to be back to work on Monday, but I didn't go back until the following Wednesday for 1/2 a day. I felt fine other than being really tired. Granted I went to a casino 2 days after surgery and all that walking was a little much for me. I don't know if I could do stairs and stuff. Also, I don't know what I would have done w/out someone else. The only real thing I needed was someone to help me sit up or slide up on the bed. It also was helpful to have someone get some things for you. If you had someone to help you at least w/bending over and doing something for the animals, that would help. Good luck w/your decision. -
Getting Enough Water
skyeblu79 replied to chimboree26's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi, You are really newly banded. I took really small sips early on too. Once I got on solid foods or a little before I was able to drink normally. After surgery I tried to time myself or make sure I took a sip ever few minutes at least. If I was watching tv, commercials I remember, drink Water. I just had my first fill yesterday, so I can't really tell you about down the road. I was able to drink the bottle of water they gave me fairly quickly afterwards. After more fills that may be different. Good luck!! -
Hi, I just decided this week to try my first dating site. It's actually a free site called Plentyoffish. I finally built up the nerve to add a picture today. I feel kind of strange doing that, but everyone keeps telling me that I probably won't get any responses or atleast good responses with out posting a pic. I actually also finally put a pic up here too. My first online pics ever... I joined on Thursday and so far, I have gotten one response and that was before I added the pic. I did a very accurate description. I really didn't know what to say though. I just wanted to get some views especially from plus size or formally plus size ladies. Eventually, I will maybe try one of the pay sites so any suggestions would be good. Anything experiences, etc. Thanks!!

What is your cardio of choice?
skyeblu79 replied to areellady's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
The elliptical machine is my absolute favorite. I do it everything and I try to increase my time, level, and incline every week or 2. I have a bad knee and it really helps. My gym also has a nice indoor track and I use that a lot too..I can't wait until I can run it. -
Thanks for the responses. I will try Okcupid. I have been on Plentyoffish for about 2 or 3 weeks now. I haven't really gotten any good responses. I haven't done much viewing on there. I only look at the people that respond to me or view me and I am not interested. I guess I could send some responses myself, but I don't know. Neveragain, I don't know if it's better for woman. Maybe some woman, but plus size women have it harder too...I know a lot of woman that like larger men, but few men that prefer larger women. Thanks again!!

Dr. Gerald Kirshenbaum - Considering Dr. Kirshenbaum

Hi, I haven't been in here for a while. Since the thread is so long read the last page for now...... Shelbicallie, I see that you are also from NC. Just letting you know you would be in great hands with Dr. K. The best rate I could get in NC was around $15,000 in Charlotte. Even with the cost of the flight (3 people), hotel (3 nights), and rental car I still came out way better. Plus, I got a great surgeon. I live in Durham and the rates are outrageous here. Shesha, I see that you had your port fixed today. I am sure everything went great. I'm have to check back for your post tomorrow. -
I didn't think she was charged with anything either. I guess it's whether you believe her or not. She said she didn't know the stuff Jim was doing. Jim was able to hide some stuff, at least for a while. Just like that affair w/his secretary. I guess no one really knows for sure, but her, Jim and God. I liked Tammy Faye too, and she sorry hear about her illness. I am just glad she isn't suffering anymore.

I am really liking this season now. I hope that Evil puts up Jen and Kail. I can't stand either of them. The look on Kail's face was priceless when Evil won HOH. I can't wait until tonight!!

Hi, Yesterday I went and checked out a new fitness club here, Lifetime Fitness. I feel in love right about away. I have never seen a gym like it: beauty salon, cafe (w/wireless), pool cafe, tanning, 2 indoor pools (24 hours), 2 outdoor pools, 2 full court basketball courts, 100 classes a week, racquetball, squash, 2 hot tubs (indoor and outdoor), childcare, rockclimbing, etc. They have the largest gym floor I have ever seen. They have physical trainers that are on site from like 6-10 (mon-fri) and 6-6 (sat-sun) I think. The trainers have several desks on the floor and they will help you You can bring 2 free guests a month and they are $10 adults and $5 a child per day after that. The entire club asside from the outdoor pool, cafe and rockclimbing are 24 hours. My only concern is location and price. It is way out of the way, but it still seems so worth it. The joining fee is a one time $199 and then $59.99 a month. They have a few specials (they aren't that great though). I wonder will the inconvenience of distance eventually get to me. I just wanted to get opinions........Anyone any members. Is it as great as it seems?
-
Just updating...I ended up not joining Lifetime. I think the facility was great, but I wish they included a little more for the price. Plus, I think I was glossed over and go in love w/it that I really didn't seriously think about how the distance would impact me. I ended up joining the local Y. If/when I move closer the Lifetime I will consider it in the future.
