Stop having so many damn kids; population control, anyone?
skyeblu79 replied to Sunta's topic in Rants & Raves
Do you have any other solutions other than adoption? A lot of people aren't going to put up for baby for adoption. I have seen 1st hand that people get wrapped up in a cute baby that they don't want and end up keeping it to abuse later. My cousins mother told her that adoption & abortion were out of the ? (and of course she didn't offer to raise the baby). A lot of babies (especially non-white, non-healthy due to drug use etc.) go unadopted. Does anyone have any other solutions? And are you saying that we should just outlaw abortion? And are there any cases when you think abortion is okay? -

My mother is 56 and I know she said that's what they used to do. I don't know if they just didn't have disposables back then or if that was just normal in the country. I'll have to ask her. To each is own, it just couldn't be me. I am willing to do a lot, but stuff I deem disgusting, I just can't do. Personally, I would rather not have to deal w/the whole female issue @ all, but that's life!!! -

I wish they could make these products more afordable or convenient to purchase. Maybe then more people probably would. For a 14 pack of maxi pads w/wings w/shipping is over $12.00!!! :faint: -

I am tripping on the fact that someone gave your 9 year old a string bikini. I guess I am going to kill the Earth!! Reusable sanitary pads sounds disgusting. I know the point of using a washer is to wash, but it still seems unclean. I don't have any kids, but I don't know how people wash diapers. What do you do when they have diarhea:eek: ? -
We don't have any snow:( , but the game is cute!!!

I was in the grocery store flipping thru People and it has an article on Elliott Yasmin. He has gotten his teeth fixed and a new hairstyle. Hollywood has got him. Other than his teeth, I liked him better before. He looked cute though.

What percentage of people die yearly? I am not expert, but that smog down in California has to be doing something for those poor people. The 1st day I was there I kept thinking it was going to rain. Even though we can save a lot more lives now a days, there are a lot more than that cause deaths that in the past. Cars are faster, smaller and therefore less safer. We have horrible gang violence and school shooting in some areas. They keep saying more and more stuff may cause this or that (cancer, etc.). We have AIDS!!! This is just a few that I thought of, but there has got to be many more factors. I am probably way off base, but whatever, just a thought. Not trying to sound like The Lottery (anyone else remember reading that) or anything. Aren't there laws against throwing out aluminum cans and things. The gov't could do more to enforce these laws...More tax write-offs for people doing recycleable items, hybrid cars, electronic cars, whatever. I think people need to come up with more ideas than keeping on saying that we have a problem. -

I live in the RTP area and believe me if you know anything about that area w/the companies, universities, etc. that alone brings a lot of people here. I grew up in Cary/Raleigh, N.C. (small town, I believe now 3rd safest city in the U.S.) and it looks nothing like it did 15 years ago. I am okay with that though. My parents live in the country and have people offering to buy their land all the time. The old field two doors down is now a small neighborhood w/$350K & up houses that are seperated by pine trees, lol. Even my parents are pretty okay with it. They understand that one day they will have to leave. Sure we will all miss it, but times are changing and sometimes it is sad, but the change can be good too. There are some benefits as well. I think my area tries to be prepared for the growth. When I graduated from high school in 97' Cary only had one public high school and now they have 3. -

Wow, where do you live? Traffic here can be bad, but I chose to live somewhere that I don't have to get on the freeway to get home. It's really only bad here when people are getting off work. Nothing is really too crowded here. The longest lines here might be to wait for Kanki or Cheesecake Factory. We build more schools all the time here. Three hours to see a doctor. They better be really good!! :faint: And I have never waited more than 10-15 minutes to see my doctor. They even started doing walkins on Wednesdays. Poor you!!! -

I agree...And in that situation you specificially heard the person say that they were purposely weren't saying Happy Holidays. Sometimes I think people just forget. Especially when during the holidays you say to people that do celebrate Christmas, Merry Christmas. Everyone is never going to be happy. One of my bestfriends is a Jehoviah's Witness and celebrates no holidays. She could easily say that a simple hello will not. Most of the time she says nothing unless someone is asking her to participate in something, etc. And in the 16 years I have known her she's never turned down a Christmas or B-day gift from anyone. -

I wasn't disagreeing w/Laurend. I was just saying the article I read sounded different. If that's what happened, I think he had a valid point. Let them be stubborn and have no Christmas trees then. -

Just to clarify..You do know it's not all Christians right...There are so people that fit every stereotype w/every religion. We don't even know that those people @ the airport were even Christian. They could be any religion. People do put up Christmas trees that aren't Christian. -
Good points!!! That is so true!!

Oh, ok...Your article is a little different. I guess different writers. My article basically said that he thought it was offensive. The article also said that they tried to reach an agreement, but didn't give any details. If that is all he wanted then, I have no problem with it. The article I read made it sound like he was disgusted and trying to be intolerant. -

Point taken and I agree with you about some of the stuff you said. Most of the stuff you said I feel is true . But I still could care less what they do to the Statue of Liberty. My point was that I personally don't care. If they want to put the Quran in the hands of the statue of liberty so what. Some people will throw a tantrum sure, which will irritate the heck out of me. That same person probably wouldn't call the police on the neighbor that's abusing their kid, recycle, or whatever. Everybody has their cause and I have found mine. It has nothing to do w/me being a Christian. I don't discriminate. And that person that said that church could have given $260K to people in Africa to fight AIDS. Of course, I would have done something better had that been my cause. The point is it isn't our $$ and pissing and moaning about what some church did what their $$ isn't our business. I'm not a member of that church and I doubt she is. People like that need to stop worrying about other people, and do what they can to make a difference. I applaude them for being concerned about the poor AIDS victims in Africa. I wonder how much that person donated (time or $$). -
Your right.

Most of the smaller pharmacies probably can't afford to cut their prices low like Walmart can. I feel sorry for them. We only have like one old family owned pharmacy left here downtown.

I have no problem with this law. Tobacco is huge here, so I doubt this will affect NC anytime soon. I think people have the right to smoke, but I don't like accomodating my life around it. An example, when I went to visit my mother while she was in the hospital I would have to hold my breathe just to walk in the entrance. Of course you still end up smelling like smoke. I do feel though, that it is my choice to go places were smoking is allowed. Ex: casinos, bingo, bars, etc. I don't have to go those places.

Also, all Warmart stores aren't doing this...They have started with select stores. I think other drug stores will still be able to compete, since this only for specific meds.

Why do we care how many children a person has? All I can do is do my part in the world. Recycle more, be more conservation with our resources, maybe get a hybrid car. . For Christmas, I am getting myself An Inconvenient Truth. I truly care more about the state of our children than the #. There are so many issues with kids nowadays and IMO, that is the more pressing issue. No matter how dumb you think it is, you can't stop someone from having 20 kids. Why not focus on what you can influence? I was reading an article today where Christmas trees were taken down @ some airport, b/c of one complaint. Is it really that serious? Or in this thread the Statue of Liberty holding a cross. Who's it hurting? I probably wouldn't have done it or donated towards to the fun, but who cares? Is it really that serious? My friend and I went to a meeting she was mad that a Muslims did a prayer for the Muslims.....Is it really that serious? Sure it would be easier everyone believed like me, but that's not happening. Whether you believe in God, Muhammad, Jesus, Jehovah, Buddah, no one that is your choice. And just b/c people are the same religion or even denomination doesn't mean we are all the same. Different people interpret things differently. Oh, yah....And I learned Baptist don't dance. (That may have been a joke I don't know). Either way it was funny along with a lot of the thread. Why do we have to take stuff so seriously? Why doesn't it hurt people to see stuff that doesn't have to do with their own faith. Why not push more to get your stuff out there if you are that concerned? And I understand where the other “childless heathes” are coming from. I hope to have children one day, but no time soon. Some people (my mother included) act like being 27 with no kids is like the world coming to an end. My sister is 32 and also has no children. I have told my mother to adopt a grandchild. Oh, and I am a Christian (Baptist), Democrat, Pro-Gay Rights, and Pro-choice for others (pro-life for myself), and against the death penalty, against censorship, for free of speech (but even more for having compassion of your fellow man). Oh, and the show16 and moving in is going on @ 10:00pm tonight. -
12 Yr old Girl has Liposuction to LOOSE WEIGHT !
skyeblu79 replied to coltonwade's topic in Rants & Raves
@ age 12, I doubt she had finished growing. I also was an overweight 12 year old and I grew an extra 2 inches in high school. This is not to mention the inches I grew in middle school. From what I remember girls grow more during middle school and that's why they are typically taller than boys. I believe 16 is the average age girls stop growing. I'm with your, the kid definitely had a lot of stuff on her plate. Some of that lypo $$ could have gone to counseling. I understand how it feels to be an overweight kid. My aunt's daughter is in the 8th grade and dealing w/this now. She has a lot of friends and is well liked, but she's very insecure. She wears a big coat all the time, even when it's hot. I really feel for her. -
I am not a Walmart fan, but I am glad that it's helping people out. I am sure it is helping Walmart out too, since they will probably have more people using their pharmacy, which means more people probably stopping to buy other stuff in other parts of the store. I am trying to make a point of not shopping @ Walmart. Thank goodness for Target. Maybe next Walmart can increase their employee pay and have better working conditions.
