Hello, I thought I had posted in here when I first joined the board, but I guess not. I currently live in Durham, NC. I am planning on going to CO to get banded hopefully in February. I spoke w/my general doctor yesterday and she basically said that she would not advise going to CO & that she would question any doctor that would do surgery on someone and not handle their aftercare. I have found several options here for aftercare. Everyone is sooo expensive though. I am really thinking of flying back and forth to Denver for fills. I would probably cost me $250 or less to fly there and get the fill. I guess I will just find a doctor here in the event that I need to see someone right away. Now I am more confused than ever. I asked my general doctor if she would be able to tke my stitches out after surgery and she just gave me a strange look & asked why my doctor wasn't doing it. So, now I still need someone to take the stitches out.... If anyone can advise any less expensive doctors within 200 miles of Durham, I would really appreciate it. The rates I have gotten so far have been $500 initial visit & $300 thereafter or $500 initial visit & $1,000 for the whole year. I forgot to even ask if it was under fluro or not.....

I just tried calling the office and the recording said that they are closed due to the weather. They said that they will be back in the office on 1/2/07. Hopefully, I will get a date soon. -
My insurance won't cover the surgery, so I am self pay. I should have the rest of my $$ on January 19th!!!:clap2: I am planning on having the surgery in February. I hope between today and tomorrow to have an actual date. Plus, it took me a long time to find a doctor that I liked and could afford.

I have wondered about the recovery too...I think work will be okay (I hope). Plus, I am a graduate student and I already have a tight fit getting in that little desk. Hopefully I can manage to get in the desk w/out hurting myself. I am missing one week of classes though. Did they tell you how long the liquid diet will be? -

Hi Colorado!! Weather Questions...

I asked about the weather when I called the week before last and she basically said if it's small snow they keep going. If it's a couple feet of snow that they close everything down. Like you said though, it makes sense that would be more prepared, so they would more recover quickly. She really didn't say much else. I was a little concerned about this before last weeks storm and now I am really wondering. I really want to give @ least a months notice @ work and go ahead and book my flight, so I might just have to take a chance. Hopefully by the time your surgery comes the weather will be better. I'm from NC...Where are you flying from? -
I used to like Rosie back in the day, but lately all she seems to do is talk about people. I really don't like people like that in real life and I don't like watching her bad mouth people all the time either. Why can't she just mind her own business? Half the time I don't think she even knows what she's talking about before she opens her mouth. I am still wondering if Clay told Rosie to rush to his rescue & put all his business in the streets. I really didn't know much about Donald until the Apprentice other than the few things I heard in the media. I stopped liking Trump after Season 4 (I think). I broke a promise to myself & started watching Season 5. I thought Donald & Ivanka were so mean to the overweight guy on the show. I thought some of the comments they made were so insulting. I haven't watched the show since that episode. Sure Donald should be no moral judge, but it is his show. It seemed dumb to me that he would let a reputable sponsor like MADD go & keep the underage drinker. I wonder if there are any specific rules to say what they won't tolerate. So people slide thru & others lose their crown. The whole thing seems so mean and childish. And I read that Trump was sueing someone else this week. Maybe the mouth is safe.

That's what I think too...My mother is like that. In our family, most good things have always revolved around food.

Thanks a lot for replying. I will check out those machines. The one that I am looking @ getting is on sale for $799.00 w/free shipping. I finally told some really good reviews on epinions.com. Now I am just concerned about where to put it.

I haven't been banded yet & I also thought about getting a Magic Bullet. Just b/c of the good stuff I have heard. I just bought a Hamilton Beach Blender/Smoothie maker @ Target & it is the best blender I have ever had. From reading this I am thinking I might not need the Magic Bullet.

Does anyone else watch this show? They are currently showing reruns of the 1st season on TLC. The 2nd season starts in March. The show basically follows the Roloff family who live and work on their farm. There are 4 kids. The parents (Matt & Amy) are both little people and only one of their sons, Zach is also a little person. This is really a good show. I have been sitting here in tears watching the episode w/the 5 year old boy Chance. He was soooooo adorable. I can't wait to see the 2nd season. I have definitely fallen in love w/this show. I just started watching it this week.

How sad!! The article I read on MSN said he was hospitalized for pnemonia, but that the cause of death was unknown. You may be thinking of his 3rd wife: Adrienne Brown dying after plastic surgery. "Adrienne Brown died in 1996 in Los Angeles at age 47. She took PCP and several prescription drugs while she had a bad heart and was weak from cosmetic surgery two days earlier, the coroner said."

What in the world? Can you find another psychiatrist or this the one the doctor uses? I really think they want you to lie on these tests. I took a personality test for a job one time and never got a call back. I went back about a year later and lied on the test and got a call back. Good luck w/this...

Here is an article: The Donald, Rosie Escalate Their Feud Posted: Today at 3:11 p.m. Updated: Today at 5:40 p.m. NEW YORK — Things got even uglier Thursday in the bitter war of words between Donald Trump and Rosie O'Donnell. The Donald called the Los Angeles-based morning show "Good Day L.A." to sound off on O'Donnell's remarks about his near-firing of Miss USA Tara Conner. "Maybe she wanted to put the crown back on Miss USA's head," the real-estate mogul said of the openly gay O'Donnell, who has four children with her partner, Kelli. "I think she's very attracted to Miss USA so she probably wanted to put the crown on her head herself." Insult No. 2: "She is a very, very unattractive woman who really is a bully." Insult No. 3: "Ultimately, Rosie is a loser, and ultimately ("The View") will fail because of Rosie. ... Barbara (Walters) made a mistake and let me tell you something, Barbara's a good friend of mine. She cannot stand Rosie O'Donnell." It all started when O'Donnell, co-host of the ABC morning talk show "The View," blasted Trump on Wednesday's show. She said Trump's news conference with Conner, whose title was in jeopardy because of underage drinking, had annoyed her "on a multitude of levels" and that the twice-divorced Donald had no right to be a "moral compass" for the beauty queen. "He inherited a lot of money," she said. "Wait a minute, and he's been bankrupt so many times where he didn't have to pay. ... I just think that this man is sort of like one of those, you know, snake oil salesmen in 'Little House on the Prairie.'" Trump fired back later Wednesday in a TV interview, calling O'Donnell a "slob," among other insults. "I never went bankrupt, but she said I went bankrupt. So probably I'll sue her because it would be fun. An amused O'Donnell talked about Trump's comments with her co-hosts on Thursday's edition of "The View." "Wasn't that a fun night of viewing? ... Look who's here today: Kelli. I was afraid to leave her home in case somebody with a comb-over came and stole her from me," she said. In an entry posted Wednesday night on her Web site, O'Donnell duplicated an excerpt on Trump's rocky financial history from his biography on the online encyclopedia Wikipedia, which is written by users. She wrote: "i will let you know if the donald sues me/or if kelli leaves me for one of his pals/don't u find him charming." Walters, who created the "The View," and executive producer Bill Geddie are standing by O'Donnell - and Trump. "Both Rosie and Donald are high-spirited, opinionated people. Donald has been a friend of `The View' for many years and Rosie, of course, is our enormously popular moderator. We cherish them both and hope the new year brings calm and peace," they said Wednesday in a statement. Trump, owner of the Miss Universe Organization, which includes Miss USA and Miss Teen USA, said Tuesday at a news conference that he would allow Conner to keep her title if she settled down and entered alcohol rehab. Conner tearfully admitted drinking as a minor at New York nightclubs. She turned 21 a day before the news conference.

Yeah, I noticed that too. The twins pretty much do and say what they want. I think it was Zach who said that basically they were allowed to do whatever they wanted and then one day Matt started trying to discipline them. I don't really blame it all on the twins though. They know better, but they clearly never had any limits. I think Matt is trying to make up for spending so much time away from the family. Amy doesn't support Matt on a lot of things, even when it comes to the kids. I think she purposely does it b/c of some resentment she has against Matt. Overall, I think it's a good show, but the kids are aaaaaa interesting....The daughter seems like a really sweet kid though and so does the youngest son. They think they are a good normal family though in a lot of ways. I guess it's hard going thru the teen years on a reality show though. I probably wouldn't be completely happy looking back @ my 15/16 behavior on tv either. Although, I would have never treated my parents like that though.

Stop having so many damn kids; population control, anyone?
skyeblu79 replied to Sunta's topic in Rants & Raves
Wow, so they were allowed to do that @ a public school back then.:faint: I had no idea...Were the not many people from other religions or faiths, where you were from? Can I ask, where are you from? -

Your kids must be around my age. I grew up in the 80's and 90's and that's basically how things were. For most people of the people I knew it wasn't a huge issue. I was in Girl Scouts from 1st grade-7th grade @ a very different church. We were from all backgrounds. I remember in the promise they had God, but you could leave it out or replace it. I loved Girl Scouts!! -

Wow, times have really changed a lot. I was in elementary school (NC) until 1990 and there were kids that didn't say the pledge of allegance @ all...We said it everyday and I never even thought about it until you said it now. It was never an issue w/the teacher of kids. Oh, did you go to a religious school or this was a normal school where you are from? -

Point taken, but unless I have tried all Indian. I wouldn't say it was spicy. In fact all Indian isn't spicy. Some of it has no spice in it all all. It would be like I was stereotyping all Indian food. -

Okay, that's called being a liar or hyprocrite. I still don't see the point. Some people are just crazy plain and simple. As we all know there are a lot of crazy people in the world and yes, sometimes to do call themselves religious. It's not shocking or strange to me.
