Who's on your "what if" list?

Wow, Paul Walker is beautiful. I love his eyes!!!
  3. LOL, I think someone else posted this...
  4. I never thought asking someone about what charity they donated too was a personal question. I guess to each is own, but you would think it if was a good charity it would be good to spread the word. Anywho, you didn't respond the 1st time, so I thought during your response your forgot. It's not a huge deal, I figured if you didn't want to say for strange reason that you would have said. Which you finally did now? Does that answer your question? Oh, and I am very interested in charities, I guess you can't tell from reading my post. I just donated to these poor puppies that were born w/clife (sp) palates & couldn't eat. It was sooo sadThey were on our local newsite (WRAL). Animals needs charity too, but I also donate to nonprofits for humans. I hope to get in the nonprofit sector once I finish my masters in Public Admin. I am very interested in charities.....
  5. What charities do you donate too?
  6. Well my parents weren't around during the depression, but they have worked hard their entire life. My grandmother was only 2 in 1929, so I don't know anyone that old. Anywho, my mother worked 2 and 3 jobs during high school to help support her family. She wanted to go to college, but couldn't. My father also came from a poor background. If his father wasn't killed in the military, he wouldn't have had the $$ to go to college. I guess he wasn't supposed to except that though either. My parents pushed school, but they always told me it was just as important to have common sense. I guess working in the school system and being around all economic backgrounds I know everyone wasn't raised like me. My best friend in high school had way more $$ than me. She wasn't taught to work hard or study hard in school. She dedicated her time to shopping. Now she is a stay @ home mom of 2 kids. She isn't a bad person she just didn't have the same outlook on live as me. And ironically she homeschools her kids:phanvan
  7. I thought Carlene was a liberal:phanvan I don't see why it has to be a liberal/conservative thing. I guess I just have compassion for other people. Everyone doesn't have parents to step in and help them. I bet you would think differently if your sister didn't have them to step in.
  8. I don't have kids, but $150 a week doesn't sound like a lot for groceries when you have 5 people. I could be off base, but I know how much food costs. That's like $30 a piece a wk. How much do people typically get for a welfare check? I know a couple of people that get assistance of some type (childcare, housing). I guess everyone doesn't get an actual check asside from child support which is for the kid, but of course typically doesn't cover everything even for the child. Ask some people why they work and don't chose to stay home and get welfare. I'm sure they can tell you some incentives.
  9. Wow, you have $10,000 to donate to charity a year..Lucky you!!! What the heck are you complaining about? May I ask, what charity you donate too?
  10. You can call it what you want it doesn't matter. If enough people we kind enough to help out w/the less fortunate I guess we wouldn't need welfare. Too many people in the country are too selfish for that!!!
  11. I guarantee you, your taxes aren't going up due to welfare recipients. I would rather know my tax dollars are going to help some less fortunate than funding things like this war. Plus, you never know what could happen tomorrow. I'm not going to look down on people on welfare or lump them all in one group. Some people really use it to get themselves on their feet. I worked at a daycare in high school and their were quite a few mothers that got assistance for childcare. They wanted to work, but couldn't b/c afford to pay the full amount for childcare.
  12. How can a welfare recipient afford a Cadillac? You can't pay for a new Cadillac off welfare. Maybe they work for the mob or are drug dealers? I am guessing they might have gotten the food stamps from someone else... Maybe I am strange, but I never even notice what other people are paying with.

    Mediocrity and Teenagers

I didn't really think about it that way. I probably wouldn't have wanted to do it either. What grade are these kids in? I know you are meaning well, but I don't know. I taught 11th grade history for a very short stint and I know sometimes once a kid does something it's hard to shake that thought of them. I was always making kids my special projects though. Being that this rally is important to you, I am thinking you probably had a negative opinion of student. Also, since this is a new class, are you a high school teacher on the block schedule or a college professor?

Who's on your "what if" list?

Jon is hot!! He seems like a real family man. I got to see him when he came to Raleigh for the Kerry Edward Campaign. He seems like a really nice guy. I think I like Keith Urban better now.

    To Be Fat Like Me

I started to watch it, but I thought it might put me in a bad mood. I might try to catch it when LTM plays it another million times.

Oh, and I forgot my General Hospital guys. Jason and Jax!!!

Who's on your "what if" list?

Gary Dourdan is hot!!! I think Ryan Reynolds is cute...He still looks the same as he did when he played on Fifteen (if anyone remembers from Nicolodeon). He's probably known Alanis from their Nic days. She played on You Can't do that on Television.

    Mediocrity and Teenagers

I think some of it has to do w/laziness. It's easier to be a "C" student. If no one knows you have the potential to do better they probably won't exspect much out of you. I don't necessarily think it's a fad. Even on tv, the most popular kids are usually not the smartest ones. It was like that when I was in high school. I think a lot of it comes from home too. Some people's parents don't really stress school.....

Who's on your "what if" list?

Same here...I have to add Jack too that list thought. Sawyer is my absolute favorite. They better not ever ever kill him off!!!
  21. That sounds like fun. I keep suggesting stuff like that to my mother who is retired on disability. I think I will suggest that again along w/some computer classes.
  22. Educating people on healthy eating doesn't always mean that they will eat healthy. I know how to eat healthy and I am getting the band. It's seems like w/more healthy stuff it does cost more. I don't make a ton of $$ and there are plenty of times I have had to go for the cheaper stuff to cut cost. I agree w/you about education of course. I started to even state education as something I think it is exceptable, but I figured most would assume education as a positive. I was really thinking about stuff like the war.
