    Rosie vs Donald

I'm not really a SJ fan either. The episode after Star announced she was leaving was my last show. I thought what BW said was uncalled for. I really didn't believe anything she had to say. There was no point b/c none of us would have ever known any of that stuff it she didn't tell us. It just didn't make since to me that they would tell her she could say what she wanted about leaving and then get made that she did.:phanvan

Walters Calls Trump `poor, Pathetic Man' Posted: Today at 1:13 p.m. Updated: Today at 1:28 p.m. NEW YORK — Donald Trump has called Barbara Walters a liar and Rosie O'Donnell a loser. On Wednesday, they both fired back. "Well, he's at it again," said O'Donnell, referring to a letter written to her by Trump and reported Tuesday by the media. The letter said Walters had told him that working with O'Donnell on ABC's "The View" is like "living in hell." "That poor, pathetic man," said Walters, drawing whoops of approval from her TV audience. O'Donnell high-fived Walters and co-hosts Joy Behar and Elisabeth Hasselbeck. "You know, he just can't - he just can't let go, but we're moving on," Walters said. The co-hosts didn't mention him by name, referring to Trump as "he" and "that guy." "The man is obsessed with me, and I'm happy to say his show tanked," O'Donnell said, an apparent reference to the ratings of the latest edition of Trump's NBC reality show, "The Apprentice," which started Sunday and fell short of those from last spring's season premiere. An e-mail from The Associated Press seeking comment from Trump wasn't immediately answered Wednesday. But TV show "The Insider" said a statement from Trump said, "They didn't even have the courage to mention me by name. It was sad to see Barbara read her statement off a cue card." In his letter to O'Donnell, Trump said Walters had "lied to both of us." He said Walters had called him from her vacation trying to end the feud and supposedly told him "don't worry, she won't be here for long" and "Donald, never get in the mud with pigs." Walters said last week she hadn't told Trump she didn't want O'Donnell on the daytime talk show. "Nothing could be further from the truth," she said. The Rosie-Donald feud began last month after Trump announced that Miss USA Tara Conner would keep her title, which had been in jeopardy because of underage drinking. He owns the pageant. O'Donnell said his news conference had annoyed her "on a multitude of levels" and that the twice-divorced real estate mogul had no right to be "the moral compass for 20-year-olds in America."

Highly offended by the ladies of "The View"

I stopped watching The View months ago, b/c I kept winding up made. People love commenting on stuff they know nothing about. I remember Rosie losing a little weight @ one point and no she seems to be AT her heaviest. I know she has to understand that it's not easy losing weight. And I am sure those comments Trump said about her hurt her feelings too. I don't see the point of passing judgement to someone else for trying to get their weight under control. In the past I wrote several letters to the View, but never ever received a response. They did though bring up the topic in hot topics. Please post tomorrow if they bring up the fact that they got some e-mails about the comments.

I believe Trump. I really don't like Barbara either. I wish she would just retire from tv completely. I used to watch the show, but I was sick and tired of the few times I did have to see Barbara on there. I think she made a big deal over that Star Jones stuff on the show for no reason too. Who would have known any of that stuff it Barb didn't open her mouth.
  5. I agree..I think she should too.

How are you paying for your surgery?

I moved back home w/my parents after my lease was up. I figured I could save enough $$ during a year to pay for the surgery. That didn't really work out b/c other exspense came up. So, I decided to borrow extra $$ from my student loans.

I didn't graduate on time either, but I should have. It took me 5 years. I even stayed in school an extra semester for the heck of it. My point is it shouldn't typically take a student that long to graduate unless they have other stuff going on...Not everyone is a traditional student, I understand that. There are those students @ almost every school that want to be "professional students." My cousin went to school from fall 98 to winter 04, but she almost had a kid and took some time off a few semesters.

You really don't sound lke a bad teacher. I think the students really can tell what professors care. Do you think higher level English (majors only) or lower level English? I think that makes a difference too. I loved English in high school & completed hated my English Comp professor. She was mean!!! I was still figuring out the whole college thing and it's different being in freshman comp, than being in the major and truly wanting to take English classes. In h.s. I was told I was a great writer, in college I felt like I had to learn to write again. Sometimes I think professors stereotype you from day 1. You write 1 bad paper and they don't think you can cut it. Once you get in your major, I think it's a little different... I completely agree. Everyone doesn't belong in college..So, many people that start college with you are gone by Freshman or Junior year. Or they are still there 8 years later.
  9. You are correct. I thought you were saying something different. I went back and reread what you said. I thought you were saying that they could use the newfound religion to help them w/getting out of jail (bail hearing, etc.). My bad....

By the time you are getting your Masters I don't even see how that stuff can be tolerated. Undergrad weeded a lot of people out. If you have a legimate disability, I don't see anything wrong w/extra help. It sounds unfair to the other students to help these students like this. The high school I did my student teaching @ basically did the same thing. They wanted me to give my honors students the same tests as the regular students. The kids couldn't do essays in 11th grade b/c it would be too challenging. This school had already had a team to come in and assist them. They would do whatever they could to make that school look better than it was....
  11. I was referring to the fact that you said these prisoners can say that they are saved and Jesus Christ is their Savior. How is this any different from people that are in regular prisons? Yes, they are all in prisons.
  12. Maybe I am a conspiracy theorist....I don't really trust a bunch of #s, especially on stuff like this...How can you really come up w/#s on something like that? If someone gets out of jail and does good and you primarily say that religion did or did not play a major role in that. What are they going to do give the prisoners surveys when they are released? Either way, people are going to gravitate to one side or the other. I guess the prisoners, workers, etc would know the best.....
  13. You miss understood me...I'm not referring to good behavior or positive reinforcement. I am referring to the corruption that goes on in prisons..

That is done here in NC....Yes, we have inclusion, but we also have classes that are specific to certain learning abilities/levels more so that strategies. I think school systems don't really know what the answer is....When I taught high school my classes had inclusion...I had no one to have me out w/the inclusion kids, where as in my high school those classes usually had an assistant. The inclusion kids would go see these "people" I can't remember what they were called during their elective period. The would then help them w/the work. I think it would be too difficult to divide the students completely off learning styles. As teachers we should try to incorporate them all in some way. It sounds like you are referring to tracking. I think tracking sucks, but a lot of states have been doing it for years...Tracking didn't start here in NC until sometime after I graduated in 97.
  15. So, are you saying that could get them out of jail? We still have to abide by the law right...And criminals in regular jails can say the same thing. What's the difference? I don't think any laws have been changed. Speaking of laws, I think people should put more energy into changing laws......
  16. Well of course that isn't right...I haven't had any personal connection w/these faith-based jails or inmates, so I can't say much..... What I can say about prisons in general is that people get all sorts of preferential treatment for different things. What should we do about these prisons? Should we get rid of them? I can speak more on them since I have people that have been in prisons that weren't faith-based.... You are correct though, I didn't know much about them until I looked it up online. I do know how regular prisons work though.
  17. So, they ask you what religion or sexual orientation are you on your app or in the interview? I thought that was illegal. Most of the articles, I read said it wasn't forced religion. I really don't know much on the subj, just going by what I read. I don't know anyone that has been in a faith-based jail. The one guy that posted on the website that worked in the jail said it was not required.....

I didn't get the whole care then in college or high school much. I think there are some teachers in both that truly care and some that really don't. I purposefully went/go to a smaller college and I think that makes a big difference. This was from the syllabus I got today. Even in college they should make special considerations..... Disabilities A student with any disability (physical, learning, etc.) requiring special considerations should notify the instructor as soon as possible. Appropriate accomodations will be developed in consideration with the Counseling Center.

The Biblical Case for Pro-Choice & Stem Cell Research

Since you know enough about this to start a non-profit organization, can I ask you a few questions? 1. Why do Michael J. Fox, Billy Graham, Muhammad Ali, Estelle Getty, Janet Reno, and Johnny Cash still have Parkinson's. 3. My bestfriend's father had a stroke 2 weeks ago and is in rehab now, can they help him? 4. Why do Montell, Lena Horne, and Tamia still have MS? Richard Pryor just died, never cured.... If it's so simple, why are none of these people cured?
  20. I found a little information online about them. There's an article on ABCNews and Dateline. It sounds like more people are being rehabilated & becoming more productive members of society. Although, I am anti-Bush(es) it can't be any worse than what we have now. One prison, Lawtey, even practices 28 different religions. I'm not a muslim or an atheist, but if they can do something to help these prisoners great!!! Why not give them a crack @ it? Here is something from one of the sites: "Prof. I would like to make an eye witness comment to this issue. I have been a vounteer in the prison systems in the state of Florida for over four years. I go in as an instructor with Prison Fellowhsip (a Christain organization.) In fact one of the prisons I go into has one of the six faith based dorms you refer to. I know there is a thin line between church and state and I respect that line. That is why all relgious activities are a choice for the inmates to attend, even the faith-base dorms. The biggest surprise I found was that if the volunteers from faith community did not go in there would be very few people going to help these men and women. People want to yell seperation of church and state when comes to helping those in need, but no one wants to get their hands "dirty" and jump in to do the work. So who is left - the faith community. Guess what? It WORKS!! No secular program has had the success of the faith-based facilities. Frankly, I want to stop the cycle of crime. If that means inmates finding faith that keeps them from committing a crime again - Who cares."
  21. These are probably the same people complaining about welfare or their friends....They are going to look out for each other.
  22. I am the same way. I don't make a lot of $$, but I try to do what I can do. If I wasn't so busy with school and work I would volunteer more.
  23. Okay...Thanks for posting these. Thank God you didn't name the Girl Scouts. Those girls rock and we sold Cookies for $$!!! Dang, and you named the Salvation Army......What did they do? And not the substance abuse treatment programs. What did they do? Help someone knock their crack habit..
  24. Thanks...I haven't heard of those other than the White House Office of Faith-Based and Community Initiatives.
