Dr. Gerald Kirshenbaum - Considering Dr. Kirshenbaum

Thanks guys!! My doctor's appointment went really well. I really think I will like Dr. Enoch. I have to go get an upper GI exam tomorrow morning. As long as everything is okay, I will get my first fill on Monday. Machele, I also have a 10cc band. My first fill is only a few weeks before yours, but I will post how mine goes. Dr. Enoch said that he typically does around 4cc the first fill and small increments after that every 4-6 weeks. My nerves are really starting to get my about this fill now. He said that he does no numbing or anything. Hopefully it won't be too bad. -
Dr. Gerald Kirshenbaum - Considering Dr. Kirshenbaum

I just wanted to say hi everybody. I haven't really had much time to be oni here lately. I am glad to hear that everyone is doing so well!! A couple of weeks ago, I finally found a doctor here (Dr. Enoch) to handle my aftercare. Tomorrow was supposed to be my first fill (which would have been exactly 6 wks to my day or surgery), but the office called me Friday and said they would not be able to do the fill and that it will be a regular visit. I am a little disappointed, but hopefully they will be able to get me in quickly. I am soooooo ready for a fill. I am nervous, but I am often worried that I am eating too much. I am really trying to watch what I eat. I still feel restriction somtimes. Everyday and meal seem different. Just taking it one day at a time. Glad to see the thread is still going strong!! -
I started to go to MX, but after waying all the pros and cons I decided on Dr. Kirshenbaum in Denver. If I had no found Dr. K I would have definitely gone to MX. Going to Denver I still saved close to $5,000 compared to the doctors here. My experience w/Dr. K was great and you can't go wrong with him. I have a lot more choices of doctors for aftercare since I stayed in the states. Good luck with whatever you decide.

I drink normally, but I still haven't had a fill yet. The most it causes is burping.

American Idol is really disappointing me this year. I am really wondering how some of those people made it thru period. Just awful!!! Sanjaya sounded okay in his audition, but from the way he's sounded on the show he should have never gotten thru anyway. I was really disappointed about Sabrina and Sundance going home. I thought both of them should have made it to the top 12. This has been a really disappointing season.

GONZALES EDUARDO (336-784-8299): $325 payment to Dr., $200 for fluro for each fill. $525 total charge. Will do 1st fill @ 6 weeks. Fills are scheduled for Mondays, Tuesdays, and Fridays.
-
I will call Dr. Eduardo's office again. I think I called them way back when I was still deciding about the band. I think they were a little more expensive than I wanted to pay. I have been calling around today and I am still waiting on call backs. So far I have gotten a call back from Dr. Bauman/Dr. Pirrello's office. His info is as follows: ROC W. BAUMAN, JON R. PIRRELLO (704-786-5700): $200 initial consult, $400 per fill, $248 fluro for 1st fill. Uses a needle for numbing. Will do 1st fill @ 8 weeks.

Dr. Gerald Kirshenbaum - Considering Dr. Kirshenbaum

I experienced that tightness in my chest when I was taking deep breathes after surgery too..Eventually it just went away. I would say sometime during week 2. I had problems with shortness of breathe and that went away too. I can understand the no drinks on the sales floor isn't helping at all...Does she understand it's for medical purposes? Maybe it would help getting a doctor's note. One of my coworkers was telling me that her old job made her bring a doctor's note b/c she kept getting up to go to the bathroom when she was pregnant.:faint: Good luck with that!!! -
What did you feel when you awoke from surgery?
skyeblu79 replied to luv2bingo07's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I was really disoriented and confused. I wasn't in any pain. I didn't believe I had surgery. I just remember being thirsty and they gave me ice. -
I find myself weighing everyday. I am not concerned with weight loss right now, but I noticed yesterday morning that I have gained 1.5 lbs. I just started on soft foods this week, so I am assuming that's why. I still have a while before I can get a fill, so I guess I will just watch what I eat. I think I am going to try not to weigh more than once a week. I think if I gain more weight before my fill I will be disappointed.

Hi, I was banded on 2/20. Since Tuesday I have been able to start eating "soft foods." I weighted Friday morning and I noticed a 1.5 lbs weight gain. Since I knew I was still healing, I really wasn't expecting weight loss, but I don't want to gain weight either. Most soft foods, I notice are higher carbs. I had been out a lot this week so I was getting a lot of mashed potatoes and soup, etc. So, I went grocery shopping and bought more vegetables and some ground turkey. My appetite is coming back, but I am making sure that I watch my portion size. I still have weeks until my first fill. What are you guy doing between banding and your first fill? Anyone else having this problem.

I also went to Dr. Kirshenbaum in Denver, CO and he was $9,950 for everything. I was banded on 2/20/07 and I had a wonderful experience. Also, if you are really considered about the price, you could probably just call the office and ask before your appointment. The prices vary so much, you never know.

I started having a normal bm on this past Sunday. I was going to take a suppository, but I guess I don't need too. I think it helped me drinking a little more Water and I had some split pea Soup and the Protein shakes might have helped too.
-
I have been sneezing and coughing a lot since surgery too. I was wondered about the same thing. I have been blowing my nose a lot too.
-
I had my surgery in a surgery center. It was just like a hospital. All the same people were there that would have been at the hospital.

Anyone fly 6 hours after surgery??
skyeblu79 replied to TRANAM1955's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I guess everyone is different. I didn't have much pain after surgery at all...I really didn't even believe for a while that I had surgery (since my pain tolerance isn't good). I had surgery on the 2/20 and had stopped taking my pain meds by the time I flew home on 2/23. -
Anyone fly 6 hours after surgery??
skyeblu79 replied to TRANAM1955's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had surgery on the 2/20 and flew back home on the 2/23. My flight was close to 4 hours, not 6, but it still felt really long. At that point, I was feeling a lot less sore. My doctor suggested wiggling my feet frequently and if possible getting up and walking a little. I didn't walk any, but I did wiggle my feet. He also suggested to drink water. Wearing loss clothing is good. If you need a wheelchair for the airport, you can request that. -
Hello, I was just banded on 2/20. I noticed after I started walking around that I was experiencing some shortness of breathe. I went back to my doctor on 2/22 and he checked my oxygen levels, lungs, and for any blood clots. He said that everything was fine and to practice my breathing exercises. Now I notice today that if I take deep breathes it almost hurts. It is a weird feeling like I can't complete the breathe. My shortness of breathe when walking has improved. I can't really do the breathing exercises b/c I can't really take good deep breathes in? Sitting down breathing normally I feel fine. Did anyone else have this problem? I am supposed to go back to work tomorrow, but I think I might just put it off a couple days. If I don't feel any better by tomorrow I will make an appointment to go to my general practitioner. Thanks!!

Is coke really off the list for good?
skyeblu79 replied to jport1975's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doctor prefers you not drink soda, but the nutritionist said to wait at least 6-8 weeks before trying. And to let some of the fizz out of the soda. I have had a soda addiction for years (specifically coke) and I am hoping that this 8 weeks or so w/out soda will kill my want for it. I was just banded on 2/20 and so far I haven't really thought about soda.
