I hadn't thought of fruit being something to limit because my dietitian encourages fruit on top of cottage cheese but your question made me go look at my paperwork and it does say to limit orange and grapefruit juice because of its acid content. I'm allowed half a cup of juice a day and they prefer me to eat whole fruit instead of just the juice but I think maybe I'll have to eat less of it just in case. They didn't give a month mark at all, just that it has a lot of acid, so to be careful. Thank you for reminding me that I still have some foods to be careful with. I honestly forgot so I'm happy for the reminder -

What is the rum cake recipe? I usually make rum balls for a christmas cookie but I've never made a rum cake. Keto too would be awesome! Sorry about the foamies though. I don't think I've had that yet. I do get the burps if I eat too fast or too much though. I wish my pouch was as small as yours though, I eat 4 to 6 oz per meal. -

Does anyone else still have foods that they can't eat well? I'm so sad that chicken and apparently turkey are still an issue for me. I can eat the deli version of them so it makes no sense to me and its frustrating. I also am having a slight issue with clementines/halos. Its my newest favorite snack, which of course usually changes weekly. I eat about 2 or 3 of them in a sitting, they are about 2 inches across so smaller then usual. I eat them little section by section so I don't think I'm eating them too fast but I get a burning like stomach acid. I have the bypass so I don't think its the acid from me but maybe the halos are too acidic for my new stomach? I take a tums and it goes away and no other issues, so of course I still eat them lol. I hope I'm not being stupid and hurting myself though. -

You did great! I am jealous of the 2 lb loss since I have never lost 2 lbs overnight. I have gained it overnight though lol. I think I might be having the same issue. I just want to shop all the time now. I do it online though so I don't even get any exercise from it. Also long posts are awesome because I love to hear how everyone is and get something to read. -

Well I gave myself that day as a cheat day and I wasn't even going to track my food but I couldn't stop myself and tracked anyway. I ate more calories then I thought that I could which was 1114 calories. Most of the issue was cheese looking at the breakdown. So many calories in a little amount of food so I'll have to be careful with cheese in the future I think. I did eat a little of everything and didn't worry about carbs and ended up eating 77. The sad thing was that when I just eat what I want to eat, I didn't eat enough protein and only hit 50. I did have an issue with the turkey itself which I guess is the same as chicken. I just can't eat it very well, it feels like I'm eating rocks and makes my stomach sore. I was worried that it would hurt my mental ability to stick to the diet after giving myself free rein but so far so good. I think it basically got it out of my system and has actually helped my carb cravings and head hunger issues at least temporarily. So I think I did ok and I can see where I need to watch myself and calories but everything is still a learning curve at this point and I learned a lot and got to celebrate with my family, so it was a good day -

Today is exactly 2 months from my surgery. I only lost 8 pounds thanks to a 3 week stall but I did lose 7 inches total from all of my measurements. Last month I lost mostly on my stomach and lost 4 inches just in that one spot. This month I lost mostly on my thighs and calves probably because my only exercise is walking on the treadmill. I'll take any and all progress though! I hope this next month is better then the last but as long as I keep going down, even if its super slow, I'll be happy. -

I haven't tried gum but I have used straws a few times with no issues. The cravings are something I understand though and I'm sad to have them. I was looking forward to not being hungry and being happy on my protein diet, but it hasn't been as easy as I hoped. If its just a rare event then it shouldn't hurt anything at all as far as weight loss. The hard part is the mental one after a treat day. You realize you can eat those bad for you foods and then you want them more and more often. If you can handle the mental part and go back to the prescribed diet and stay on it then I think a treat day every once in a while can be fine. I plan on thanksgiving being my treat day and I'll eat the carbs and dessert and just relax for one day. This diet is like a full time job sometimes. -

Celebrate you today!

I'm celebrating the end to my 1st big stall that was over 3 weeks long. I'm also just on the cusp of one under land so today is a great day and I'm excited again! The weight of a stall is way heavier then I expected and I'm so very happy to be done with it and also scared that I'm jinxing myself. For today though, I'm super happy! -

That sounds like a great breakfast and good amount of protein! I love avocado and hopefully chicken and eggs will get better for me sooner rather then later. I think my stall has officially broken after more than 3 weeks! Knock on every piece of wood and so hope I'm not jinxing myself lol. I have lost weight 3 days in a row so I'm counting that as breaking my stall. I'm sad that I didn't get a large weight loss like I've seen people post about after a stall, but I'm soooo happy just to be moving in the right direction again! Everything is so much easier without that stall hanging over me. I want to exercise again and I have energy just because I'm not as depressed. I never quit my walking but I just didn't want to do it or progress my routine. Now I'm back on track and excited again. Hopefully its a long time until my next stall lol. -

I agree on the stalls. I know its normal and expected but I still felt like a failure. I wish I could eat chicken more. Its the perfect food to get the protein without the extra fat. Right now I eat mostly ground pork because it has less fat than the beef I used to buy and its even cheaper then beef too. So win win but still not as good as chicken lol. What do you eat for breakfast that has chicken? I have not been liking eggs so breakfast has been my hardest meal for protein unless I eat yogurt. Chili has been my favorite food atm. I bought some Hormel turkey chili and it was pretty yummy and not too bad for me, although seemed high in calories. -

Congrats!!! I think I'm still in my stall. I waited a week to weight myself and I'm down a little bit from my lowest but its so close I'm going to wait and see. Stalls are the worst so I'm so happy for you! I've also found my newest favorite drink. 2 things I hadn't tried, heating my protein shakes and fairlife vanilla so I tried it with a sf chai mix and it is the best! I found on amazon David Rio Sugar Free Orca Spice Chai Tea Mix and it is amazing. I just looked right now and it seems almost sold out which worries me but I still have most of my container left atm. What is everyone's favorite food or drink atm? Do your tastes change often? Mine seems to change weekly lol. I still have trouble with chicken too but so far everything else is ok. -

Congrats! I have been 2 pounds away for weeks now but I can't wait until I join you. I've only lost 30 pounds but I have a few fun nsv like my watch was on the last hole and tight enough to leave marks on my wrist but now it rotates freely around and around. I could tighten it but I love seeing the evidence of the weight loss lol. My wedding ring is getting dangerously loose too. I almost couldn't take it off for the surgery because it was so tight and I never take it off anyway but now I check it often because I'm afraid it'll come off on its own. Little things like that make all that we've done to get to this point worth it -

Sorry you are still dealing with that horrible fatigue. Its frustrating that even the experts are having trouble helping you figure it out. I hope the water is the answer and that it will just take a little more time. Glad your vitamins are perfect. Did they check for any other health issues? Motivation is hard when you are doing everything right and things are still not working. You are doing great though! You can do this! -

Yay, glad that things are going well! I have not warmed up any of my premier drinks, I should try that! I have added it to decaf coffee as a creamer, but your idea sounds awesome. My taste buds keep changing per week it seems. This week I like sf raspberry lemonade for my cold drink and apple cinnamon tea as my hot. I've also tried a few fairlife protein shakes and I might be leaning towards liking them more than premier even though I love premier. Mostly its because its less thick and so far I haven't gotten the occasional chunk of protein in my drink. I've been in a stall now for almost 3 weeks so not fun at all. I saw my dr, dietitian and exercise specialist and they all said I have done everything right and hitting all protein and water goals so the only thing to do is to increase calories until the stall breaks. So they want me to get to 900 to 1000 a day, I was at around 750. Its so hard for my brain to wrap around that since my whole life I've been told that to lose weight you need to eat less and exercise more. I do understand the stall too and that my body is very good at protecting itself. So I'm going to listen to the experts and just be patient and I know it will pass. Just sad because I was already a slow loser and now I've lost only 4 pounds in almost a month. How is everyone else doing? -

Wow, sorry for all you have had to go through! Glad they found the cause though and hopefully it'll be smooth sailing from now on. I'm glad they finally fixed your problem and that all looks well now. Enjoy the soft food and hopefully no more hospital time, take care! Hopefully more water will help you feel better. I have found that warm fluids are easier to drink. I change my flavors around because I get bored more easily now but I started off with decaf coffee and used my protein shake as the creamer which was 2 for 1 at least for my team. Some teams don't count anything with protein in it as a liquid but mine does. Then I switched to tea because it was fall and I love the decaf cinnamon and apple flavor but there are so many tea flavors, I can change all the time. I also did get some sugar free lemonade in different fruit flavors for when I want a cool drink too. Just having options make me drink better because I'm not dreading it as much but I have found that I can't do cold drinks anymore. Hopefully you find something that works for you. Good luck! -

I think going into soft food was the best experience ever. I never really appreciated food until I couldn't eat it for so long. Glad you are getting to enjoy flavors again! -

So sorry that your exhaustion is so bad. The only thing I can tell you is what my dietitian told me and he said to eat at least 30g of carbs per meal and that would help with energy levels. I wasn't having energy issues and I'm still not eating that many carbs but if you are eating low carb, then maybe try increasing your carbs and see if it does give you energy. Also I don't know if your calories are too low or if you are doing too much exercise. adjusting those types of things might help. Hopefully your team has some better ideas next week, good luck! -
All 3 are already on my exercise list

Seems like the things you can't do or can't eat are the things you want the most. I remember how amazing refried beans tasted after so many weeks of a liquid diet. It seems like it went by pretty fast now, but at the time it was not fun lol. So I'm sure this time waiting until we can eat certain foods will be over before we know it -

So anyone on an unrestricted diet try crunchy food yet. I don't have any restrictions other then they say that peas, corn or steak might not digest well. I've been afraid to eat crunchy food though. I really want to eat baby carrots or raw broccoli but I'm afraid it will hurt my stomach or get stuck or something. So has anyone tried things like that yet and how did it go? -
I don't know if I have a theme song but I do have 2 songs that I like that seem inspiring to me and my weight loss journey. Legends Are Made by Sam Tinnesz and Katy Perry - Rise. I made a whole exercise playlist of upbeat music to give me energy and it really does help. I'd love to add more music to my playlist so hopefully this thread gets lots of responses.

I'm so sorry that you went through the whole pre op process and even have the pain of recovery, just to have to start all over again. Its good to know now how your body is set up and that it wasn't during an emergency or something. I'm glad that they found someone who can still do the surgery for you. Hopefully things will go smoothly next time. Good luck!!
