Stalls are the worst! I had a stall that was 5 weeks long and now the weight loss has slowed way down. I wasn't told to go back to shakes though, but to increase my calories and add strength training. Its weird how each dr has their own plan and we just have to hope that our dr can get us to our goals. You have done so well though and should be proud! My favorite shakes were the fairlife ones if you haven't tried them yet. Good luck and keep us updated on if the shakes work.

Solid foods - did I eat too much?
Hope4NewMe replied to amylittlelbs's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Every dr seems to have different rules. At 2 months out my dr wanted me to eat 800-900 calories and to not skip carbs. I would think that what you ate was fine and seems to fit your teams advice. Take care! -
I also had this happen during the 3 week stall which is about which point you are at. I went up and down those same 3 pounds for 3 weeks and then the stall finally broke. It was depressing to be doing everything right and not see any results but its actually normal. So do your best not to stress too much and just stick to your plan and you'll see results again soon enough. Take care!

I had the same thing happen. It had been over 4 months since my last period and a year of it being unpredictable but since the surgery its back to its monthly self. I was looking forward to it being gone too lol.

September surgery buddies!!

Congrats!! 100 lbs is amazing!! You should have no trouble at all in the seats if you are wearing a size 16. Hope its a fun trip! At least the travel itself will be fine. Glad you are feeling better and can eat better and are doing so well with exercise too! Sounds like you are doing beautifully Thank you for the update. Its great to hear how people are doing. I asked my dr today about the hair loss and he said to start taking biotin and that it usually lasts until the 9th month. I'm so sad to hear that I might have 3 more months of this because I'll have none left! Oh well, it'll grow back I guess. -
Energy Surge 1 week Post-Op?
Hope4NewMe replied to Victoria_Faith's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had the same experience and at about the same time. I think it only lasted for about a week though so enjoy it while you can. Then I hit the 3 week stall and everything slowed down for about 3 weeks. After that my energy started going up again and stayed above my pre surgery level ever since. I hope your energy levels stay high and don't worry too much about the exercise. Usually the more I exercised the more energy I had and it didn't affect hunger at all. Good luck and take care! -

We should have a whole year and even more to reach our goal. Everyone is different so its sad if your surgeon put that stress on you to do it extra fast. As long as your weight is not going up and still trending down then you are doing great. No idea why they would expect you to reach a certain weight by a certain date. Hugs! -

Congrats! Sounds like you are doing amazing! I think you are right that losing weight all over makes it harder to see, at least to ourselves. Hope our hair decides to stop falling out soon lol. Thank you for the update, its nice to read and hear about how others are doing. Wow, 100 pounds in just 4 months is outstanding!! You are so close to your goal too! I do know that weight loss slows down which is why I said that I hope that I can have that happen. I guess its better to be prepared if it doesn't but I like having hope lol. Thank you for the wonderful update, I'm so happy that you are doing so well! -

Don't know how many of us are still left reading these forums but I miss you all! Just hit my 4 month mark and I'm down a little over 50 pounds, yay! Before surgery I was just hoping that I could hit that goal before my cruise and I did! I have another month before I sail so maybe I'll hit 60 pounds down and that will be the best. Weight loss has slowed down but I did expect that. I'm hoping to keep losing at about 10 pounds per month now which is what I did this month and I also lost 7 inches. My hair is definitely thinning so I cut my almost waist long hair to shoulder length and I actually love it. Scary to see the loss at my temples but I know its temporary so I'm trying not to stress too much. I had my blood tested and all of my levels are good but they do want me to take a little more iron because they want me to be above average. I finally tried on a smaller pair of pants and was surprised to see that I could fit into a 14 and its not even tight. I haven't been this size in over 10 years. My brain still thinks I'm the same size to its nice to be able to put on clothing and see proof of loss. I had to buy ring adjusters because my wedding ring was getting scary loose so now its tight and safe again. I can't believe how much has changed in just 4 months and I'm so happy I had the surgery. I hope you all are well and come back and visit sometime lol -
Transition from liquid to puréed
Hope4NewMe replied to jesscalng83's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I really enjoyed refried beans with taco bell sauce although some people aren't allowed spicy things at 1st. I didn't consider the mild sauce to be spicy and it didn't hurt to eat for me but just a thought. I also ate prune baby food. I had a lot of constipation issues after surgery so it was nice to get the fiber and it was actually more yummy and sweet then I thought it would be. Good luck and take care! -

Wow it sounds like you are doing amazing!! Sorry you started off so rough but you are doing great, you should be so proud! I wish I could forget sweets. I've never been one that ate a ton of sweets but if they are in my reach I'll have some. That's why I usually just don't keep any in the house but Christmas seems to be the exception. I'm finally able to get most of my protein without the shakes but I still enjoy eating a protein yogurt for breakfast every day so that gives me a good start. Although I do love my hot chai made with a protein shake but only the vanilla from fairlife. I tried like 3 other vanillas and didn't like them at all. So I still do eat some protein items but its because I like the flavors instead of needing it. My goal is lower than yours though, I'm supposed to have 60 per day. You are doing amazing at working hard at your goals, can't wait to hear what the next 3 months brings for you I hope our hair struggles are short lived but I know its all worth it in the end. -

The only thing I have had issue with so far is chicken but even that is getting much better. I was hoping for more issues with sweets but my holiday snacking has proven that sweets are still tolerated. So it's up to my will power and that has a proven fail track rate. Luckily I am good about sticking to instructions so I still track everything and keep my calories 1000 or under. I was in a stall and so I even took the last week and a half off from weighing and ate holiday food and treats but I just weighed myself today and I lost 3 pounds. So I think that means that I can have my treats as long as I stick to the calories, protein and water goals I was told. Don't want to jinx it though or get used to the treats which is where I wish there was more consequences to my actions. On a side note, I think my hair is starting to fall out I see more and more of it on my brush and I'm sad. I was hoping I would be lucky and get to skip this phase of the surgery but I guess not. I'm just hoping my hair is ok for my cruise in Feb. I was looking forward to maybe getting to buy a new size of clothes and not hiding as much from the camera but missing hair might be something to hide too. I'm considering getting it cut and seeing if I get more body that way but I'm going to wait as see if it gets worse or if its just a little more hair in the brush. Hope everyone's holidays are going well- take care! -

Sorry you are having such a rough time! Being sick through the holidays is extra frustrating. For sure keep up with the fluids but I really hope you feel better soon. Makes me less sad at being in yet another stall because it could be worse. -
So what did your Drs advise you do as far as carbs? Mine says that they don't really limit carbs and that they believe that carbs will give you energy and then you will be more active which will then lead to weight loss. They believe that balance is the key. Looking though through threads and youtube, most of the people seem to be on a low carb diet like keto without the added fat. I do want to be successful but if I could be successful and still eat more carbs I think I would be happier. Carbs are the only thing I am craving but I'm only a month out from surgery and carbs to me seem to be a slippery slope and I'm afraid that if I allow myself to eat carbs then I'll start eating them too much and snacking on crackers or something. Since surgery I have limited myself to 40 or less carbs per day and yesterday I had my one month visit with the dietitian and he said I needed to up my carbs to around 30 per meal. So what did your plan say about carbs and if you were allowed carbs, did you lose weight fast or was is slower? The speed of weight loss I know is individual, but if it seems to be a factor I want to know.

I have been getting my hunger back too and I also had my surgery done in sept. It makes me sad because I was hoping to not be hungry for longer. Its harder to stay on track when I'm hungry every two hours or so but I fill it with low calorie food. I am eating salad or fruit as snacks and trying to eat slower during my meals. I've upped my protein but that didn't really help. I measure all of my food and stick to my dietitians guidelines, but its scary to see how hard it is sometimes.

I found THE BEST appetite suppressant
Hope4NewMe replied to SleeveToBypass2023's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I so glad you found something that works for you and that you are happier and more in control. Sounds like its a wonderful find and thank you for sharing! -
I have not been in your position with the pain but I have been depressed in the past and I can feel your struggle in your words. I would for sure get a new therapist if they are not listening to you and realizing that you need help and not telling you to just deal with things. As far as the weight gain, the lack of exercise usually isn't the biggest cause. Some people can lose without any exercise at all. I totally understand your frustration to have your options so limited but you can only control so much. You are doing the best you can. I would look at your calories and you'll probably have to lower them to get the weight to come back off again. Alcohol is usually pretty high in calories, so it might be the main culprit. So for motivations sake, quitting the alcohol might make the weight gain stop and then when you feel better in control of your life you can make more diet changes and then lose the weight too. Sometimes just having something that you can control when everything else feels so out of control helps ground you and give you the mental stability to deal with things. So controlling your diet and calories could be a good start. I wish you the very best though and take care!

I was really scared to weigh myself and get depressed again but I did it this morning and I had actually lost a little over 2 lbs in the last 4 days! Sooo relieved!! Honestly stalls are my biggest mental challenge and I was not ready, so I'm glad that I'm safe for a few more days lol. -

I have been good and trying not to weigh myself every day but today I got on the scale after 4 days of not looking and my weight did not go down, it actually went up .2. I just got done with a 3 week stall 2 weeks ago and mentally I am having a really hard time dealing with possibly being in another one. Its so hard to stay positive when you work hard to do everything as right as you can and then it feels like you are failing. I can't just stay off the scale because I need to know if I'm in a stall so I can at least try things to help but being in a stall is the worst thing ever. I have been hitting all of my goals, have increased my exercise a little bit, not drastically. As in I walk 30 min instead of 24 on the treadmill. I have been trying to do my strength exercises, but not with any actual weights, just my own arms. So its not likely to be an exercise and muscle gain equaling me out. I have been on the low end of my water and calories so I'll increase both but honestly if I was just on a regular diet right now, I would just give up. I'm glad I can't give up really, so I'm appreciative of the surgery but still sad. -

I get a sneezing fit, burps or a runny nose when I eat too fast. Not all at the same time and its usually constantly burping for like 10 min but I have had the sneezing too. I have not thrown anything up though.
