MyDogsLoveMe replied to nhskigal's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I had loose bm yesterday and diarrhea (once) so far today. Should I be worried? Scared but excited. -
1 week post of and severe diarrhea
MyDogsLoveMe replied to switchwitch's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Today I had a bit of loose stool. Not too bad but not the norm. I did take extra benefiber, and haven't added anything different so I came to look at this site to see- since I have been pretty much eating the exact same things for two to three weeks- and my yogurt has one of things you listed as sugar alcohol <1g I didn't see it as an issue. Maybe it's that or something else. I'm thinking I should drink some extra fluids to compensate. Scared but excited. -

MFP: you can change the information. You can put in as much carbs or whatever. I have a max sodium and carbs. Just know that your macros (carbs, protein and fat) are at a percentage. Scared but excited. -
1-week post op; feeling all over the place
MyDogsLoveMe replied to KRod6's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Just an update: just got done with my post op appointment with the surgeon and he says the clear protein water counts as liquids as does the isopure and water. I've been doing my best to meet the requirements without using these in my liquids! I've been exceeding the requirements! Scared but excited. -

Weight gain going into week three
MyDogsLoveMe replied to nymisc's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I too am frustrated. I started at 229 the day of my surgery (10.11.22) and have only lost 12 lbs. I see people have lost 20 lbs or more. Now I'm worried I won't lose anymore weight and I'm doing all of this for nothing. I am taking in my protein and liquids and don't have a lot of room for actual food. I have a yogurt, and ricotta bake I'm going slow because it took me almost 2 hours to eat one yogurt. I started walking more what else should I be doing? My surgical followup is later this week so I'll see what my surgeon says. Scared but excited. -

No. I'm sticking to what my surgeon says. If I wanted to continue to do what I wanted I wouldn't have had the surgery. But, you do you. It's your body and your healing. That said, I did Protein before the surgery to find out which ones I could tolerate. The atkins ones were the best even though it has less Protein, I add protein powder to bring up the grams of protein per serving. I tried isopure and clear protein which I could also tolerate. I could not do the ones added to soup. Scared but excited. -
Thank you. I took benefiber and pooped! I have never been so happy to poop in all my life. This makes me sound a little crazy. Lol What stool softeners have you taken? I dont think benefiber has a softener. Scared but excited.

I think I have gas or constipation. I don't think this is what you are talking about. I am 2.5weeks out and just started eating pureed food. It's starting to hurt in my lower abdomen and I haven't pooped in a few days but the nurse I talked to said that if I pass gas there is nothing to worry about. I am passing gas but not a lot. I was thinking of going to urgent care tomorrow. Any thoughts? Scared but excited.

6 month follow up
MyDogsLoveMe replied to Candigrl1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I finally got a call back from Kaiser and the person I talked to said that anything with protein in it DOES NOT count toward the liquids. I even double checked and asked if I make isopurr with 16 oz of water does that water count she said NO. It only counts toward protein. They also said that they would send a referral so that I could go to the support groups. It isn't a drop in thing, I need a referral and then someone will call me. I am feeling less than supported by kaisers bariatric department. I have an appointment with the surgeon next week so I hope that goes well. Scared but excited. -
1-week post op; feeling all over the place
MyDogsLoveMe replied to KRod6's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I talked to a kaiser nurse and she said anything with protein in it doesn't count. Even if I mix the isopure with 16 oz of water, it doesn't count. I find that odd. Scared but excited. -
6 month follow up
MyDogsLoveMe replied to Candigrl1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I left messages to attend the support groups and I'm waiting for a call back. I do have my followup next week. Thank you for your help, I stayed up until 1 am the other night trying to get my liquids in. I don't have social media, this is the only one I have. Scared but excited. -
1-week post op; feeling all over the place
MyDogsLoveMe replied to KRod6's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
With stage three are you counting clear protein drinks as fluids, for fluid intake? I was told protein supliments don't count as fluid anymore and I am finding that getting my fluids in is super hard without my isopure made with water and the clear drinks. Scared but excited. -

MyDogsLoveMe replied to Candigrl1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have kaiser too and have questions about my diet. I just started stage 3 where it says that protein supplements no longer count as fluid needs. I called kaiser and was only able to leave a message. Can you help with my question? Does the clear protein drinks count as fluid or the isopure that I make with water count as fluid? I'm afraid I'm not going to make the protein AND fluid intake minimums at this stage. I'm worried now. The only "food" I had today was 1/2 a yogurt. Scared but excited. -
My poop is dark brown and I am wondering if I should be worried. No blood. This is the 3rd poop I have had since surgery on 10.11.22. I am still on liquids. I am mostly doing chocolate protein shakes, is this normal? Scared but excited.

I had my surgery same day as you. I add protein powder to my shakes (55 grams protein) with a little water and just started adding a 1/4 of a banana - (for a different flavor). Then put it in my ninja mixer. I drink clear premier protein (20 grams protein) or Isopure, Infusions 100% Whey Protein Isolate, Mixed Berry, (20 grams) I tried to add protein to my soup but it was soooo gross. Maybe I purchased the wrong type of protein. Good luck to you! Scared but excited. -

Mine was on the 11th too. I meet my protein goals by adding protein powder (and water) to my pre made protein shakes. I also drink premeir protein clear drinks instead of plain water. That was the only way to meet my protein goals. I tried adding protein to my soup but it made it taste so bad and have a weird unpleasant consistency. I'm glad you are doing well! Keep it going! Scared but excited. -

I'm glad I didn't get that option. I would have been scared that the pain would be unbearable. The pain hasn't really been that bad for me. I opted for no pain killers both in the hospital and at home. I hope that everything goes well for you. Positive thoughts for you! Scared but excited. -
Apparently I was not having migraines I was having mini strokes. I learned this after my surgery when my hand wasn't working and got a CT and an MRI. I used to take Topamax and nortryptoline. Scared but excited.
