    Post questions

I had surgery on 10.11.22 and started my vitamins on 11.15.22. Still stage 2 liquids still. They said to wait on calcium though. Scared but excited.

    No medical support

I'm sorry about the issues you are having. When I really can't do more hydration I just suck on the sugar free Popsicles. That was my saving grace. I just let them melt in my mouth. I read somewhere that there may be home Healthcare nurses that will give you iv fluids at home. It might be costly though. I hope things get better for you. Scared but excited.

8 oz an hour is a lot! I get max 5 oz an hour. Great job! I haven't really weighed myself yet. I told myself that when I'm feeling better and not swollen still I will. Scared but excited.

It is. I had mine on 10.11 too. I'm still on liquids the booklet I received says stage 2 is for 2 weeks and then this other paperwork I got at the hospital says 10 days. I can only have protein shakes, soups, water, jello, and Popsicles. I did blend up some soup and then put it through a strainer and pretty much nothing went through =(. I can't wait for applesauce, or yogurt even! Scared but excited.

I had surgery on 10.11.22. Had some complications was moved out of the surgical floor into a different one and stayed in the hospital until 10.14.22. Everything is going OK now but I have a question. Am I supposed to be popping? I have only had liquids no actual food. Scared but excited.

    Avoiding sugar substitutes?

I have been having bad migraines lately. I think its due to the protein shakes. I purchased clear protein shakes with stevia for after my surgery (later today) but I am worried. What meds are you on, if you don't mind me asking? And how did you do with the protein drinks? Scared but excited.

Ok, so it's normal? Good luck to you! I have to be at the hospital at 7am. It's a little after 5. I've slept about 3 hours I'm tired but more nervous. So many things are running through my head. I hope that you are doing well. I know we will both get through this and come out the other side better than ever. Scared but excited.

Mine is supposed to come soon too. Surgery is Tuesday for me. For some reason I think the blood thinners will make my period come sooner. Glad to hear it wasn't too bad for you but I get really bad cramps so worrying about the pain compounded with that. Scared but excited.
  12. My surgery is also Oct 11!!! My friends sister just had the surgery in Mexico and she said WALK, WALK, WALK!! That helps get the gas out and she said she burped her sister like a baby. We got this!! We will do great! We have already put in a lot of work! Scared but excited.

I have been doing a low carb diet except for today. I went out to dinner with some coworkers and had some sushi so the rice was bad. I have shakes but they only have 15 grams protein but the others are soooo gross I can't finish them. I have been doing atkins shakes for breakfast on the way to work and then egg muffins (eggs with spinach, mushrooms, onions, bellpeppers baked in cupcake tins) at work and then one shake with my lunch which is just a low carb tortilla with turkey meat (93/7) with some taco seasonings. For dinner more turkey. I'm just eating the same things day after day to make sure I don't mess up. It's easy to make and the prep time is short. I'm not hungry anymore. It seems like a lot of food but the calories are pretty low for each. We are almost there!!!! We got this!!! Our hard work is paying off! There might be a recipe area on this site, I'm not sure. That may help. Scared but excited.

Thank you! I talked to my surgeon and he said as long as I didn't gain any weight from my original consult I didn't need any pre op diet. Just not to eat the night before. I'm getting scared the closer to the date. I just had a covid test I guess several are needed prior to the surgery date. I have my preop doctor's appointment on 10.6 then surgery 10.11. How are you feeling? Scared but excited.

The doctor didn't give me any pre op diet yet. [emoji53] I am worried that I'm not doing things right. I will send him a message to make sure things are right. Maybe it's because I lost 20 lbs on my own since June??? Maybe I'm overthinking things too.... How are you doing?? Scared but excited.

    Nervous on vacation!!!! Help!!!

If thr portions are large, ask if someone will share with you. Maybe you eat some of their protein/veggies and you buy them desert. Maybe there is a kids meal that you can order or appetizer. My husband likes to eat out, so I have been watching what I eat (my surgery is Oct 11th) and giving him more than half of my food or taking it home. I order steamed veggies as a side or a salad. I'm sure things will change after surgery. Sent from my SM-A505U1 using BariatricPal mobile app

Mine is scheduled for October 11th. I don't eat fast food (too expensive), or drink. I've been doing ok with my diet. I lost 14 lbs but then gained 2. I'm scared about the surgery, and feel unprepared. Sent from my SM-A505U1 using BariatricPal mobile app

    Dr.Janos Taller????

Dr. Taller will be my surgeon. How did things go for you?
  22. I don't really have a support system of people who have already done the surgery or on the journey. What advice would you give me? Any advice is welcome I had to delay because of medical reasons (not due to weight) and covid shutdowns.
  23. @mkellee Congratulations 👏👏👏👏. 5 days! How is the pre op meal plan going? Did you prepare for the post op with anything special? Let me know afterwards!! Congratulations again!!!

    Fluid Intake

How are you doing with your water I take now? This is my biggest fear dehydration because I get migraines if I am dehydrated and I am trying to sip on water. I also can't have fake sugar, they too give me migraines. Thank you.
  25. I hope I am replying correctly... Thank you and congratulations on your weight loss!! That is a huge accomplishment! Good luck on your skin surgery. My primary doctor referred me to positive change classes and I took the nutrition class about 3 years ago. After that and during covid I gained soooo much weight and she (primary) recommended the surgery. I took classes online and then did my blood tests and that was it. Then I had a hospital stay (unrelated to weight) March, 2021 so I had to wait on my surgery. Fast forward to April of 2022 and my doctor said I should be ok to have weight loss surgery. I contacted Positive Change and they did not require me to retake classes and reordered my blood tests, I had a psy evaluation, and did not pass the first because I had not lost any weight (I actually gained) and he didnt think I put in the work. I had another appointment with him about 6 weeks later (mid July) and had lost weight so he approved me. I just had a phone consultation with a surgeon and he approved me for the sleeve on the condition that my specialist says its OK. He said the sleeve is better for me due to the medications I have to take. Since I went through my classes a long time ago, I watched tons of videos on youtube from other surgical hospitals etc. A lot of places seem like they are really connected to their patients and give them so much support. For me, I feel like I am on an island. I haven't talked to a nutritionist, or anyone else walking me through this process. Most of my info this time around is via youtube; and I just found this place last night. What I am most worried about is drinking water. I get migraines if I get slightly dehydrated. I have been working out to lose weight and noticed how much I drink. I am trying to sip water throughout the day but I am failing at keeping myself hydrated and have had a migraine almost every day. How do you do it? Set alarms? How do you go through your day sipping so much water? How do you work like that? I also saw that you cannot eat gummy vitamins is that true? I cannot find that in the positive change book, maybe I missed it. Thank you for your support and all the help!
