10 CC band- How many CCs to get restriction?
Larry replied to Leona06's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I was banded on Oct. 27th, 2008 with the 10 cc band. I started out at my first appointment at 386,, my first fill(1 cc) was in January , 2009 after I had only lost 4 pounds 307-303 between my December and January follow-ups. In February a second fill(2 cc's) was done as I weighed 301 pounds. This seems to have found the sweet spot as my weight was down to 284 at my March follow-up then to 277 in April. I have three goals set; the first one I have met, to get my weight under 300 pounds; the second of which is to get my BMI under 40, and my final goal is to get to 200 or less. -

Your Weight Loss at 1 month appointment?
Larry replied to Moondust's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I was banded on Oct. 27th, 2008, at my first appointment, 08/21/2008, before surgery I weighed 386 pounds, after all the pre-op testing and pre-op diet I was seen one week after surgery and weighed 327 in December 2008 my weight had dropped to 307 pounds, in January my weight had dropped to 303 pounds and a 1 cc fill was done, in February my weight had droppped to 301 and a 2 cc fill was done, this seemed to hit the sweet spot people speak of because at my March 19th, 2009 follow up I was down to 284 pounds. I've seen both rapid and slow weight loss but in 7 months I've lost 102 pounds. -

Good Luck to all of you! I'm from Austin, Texas and was banded on Oct. 27, 2008 by Dr. Bridget Brady with Southwest Bariatric, the results have been incredible so far! I weighed 386 pounds at the time of my first appointment with Dr. Brady on August 21, at my last follow up on March 19th I had lost 102 pounds and was down to 284 and am still dropping. I wouldn't try to guess how the band will work in each individuals cases but it has worked way beyond expectations for me. -

We Need to Get Ourselves in Check...Me Included!
Larry replied to crystal525's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hang in there! I think each of us is gonna lose at our own rate. I weighed 386 pounds at the first visit with my surgeon on August 21st, started pre-op diet on Oct 5th, had dropped to 373 at time of 2nd appointment with my surgeon on Oct. 9th after all the pre-op tests had been completed, had the surgery on Oct. 27th. I was down to 327 at the first post surgical follow up on November 3rd. Next follow up in December I had dropped to 307. In January the loss slowed dropping only to 303 at this time a 1cc fill was done. In February I only lost 2 pounds to 301 and a 2cc fill was done. March brought the biggest surprise to date I had dropped to 284 pounds and am still dropping. In 7 months I have dropped 102 pounds. I was banded by Dr. Bridget Brady with Southwest Bariatric in Austin, Texas. -
real difference between Realize band and LapBand?
Larry replied to TeraDN's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded on October 27th 2008, from my discussions with my surgeon the main difference is in the company the band is made by. The 10cc lapband was placed in my surgery, so far I've had 2 fills totalling 3cc's and the results I've had so far have been nothing short of incredible. I weighed 386 pounds at my first appointment with my surgeon on Aug 21st, had surgery Oct. 27th, as of my last follow up in March 2009, I have lost 102 pounds and am now down to 284 and still dropping. -
I was banded on 10/27/08 by Dr. Brady with Southwest Bariatric, I absolutely do recommend Dr. Brady as she has been great through the surgery and the followups. I weighed 386 pounds on 8/21/08 when I reached the decision to pursue lap-banding, started the pre-op diet on 10/05/08, then at my first follow up after surgery on 11/3 I was down to 327 pounds at my most recent follow up on 12/04/08 I weighed in at 307 pounds, 79 pounds down with much more to go.

Hello, I attended a seminar on Saturday August 9th with Southwest Bariatric that was given by Dr. Bridget Brady. I was very impressed based on the seminar and I am considering Dr. Brady. Has anyone seen Dr. Brady or undergone the Lap-Band procedure? If so I would be interested in your experience. Larry

Good luck to both of you! I was banded on 10/27/08 in Austin, Texas, and I have been very glad I did. I had my 2nd follow up on 12/4/08 and my weight is now down to 307. I wish you both the best of luck, and hope you have similar success. Larry Austin, Texas

Armywife, Sorry I haven't replied sooner, the lab work wasn't bad at all just had the EKG done and the blood draw done for the tests. I had this done by my primary care physician, Dr. Malleske at South Austin Medical so my insurance would have to cover at least that much, this was done on 8/26, I had the exercise consult on 9/5 at St. Davids, next will be the Psych eval on 9/22, and last but not least the appointment with Jerry on 10/2, and I'm hoping the next appointment with Dr. Brady and a sugery date soon after that. Good Luck with your pre-op appointments! Larry.

Thank you ArmyWife, I have been very impressed so far. I too am in the pre-op stages, I had the lab work and EKG done on 8/26, the meeting with the exercise physiologist on 9/5, and am currently looking to get the psych eval done. I had my first appoinment with Dr. Brady on 8/21 and I am convinced that I have chosen the right surgeon. Good luck as you get throught the pre-op requirements. Larry

I'll have my first appointment at SW Bariatric on August 21st with Dr. Brady. I'm really looking forward to the appointment as I met Dr. Brady one of the seminars. Has anyone here seen Dr Brady? Larry

I am a lap band hopeful. I just set my first appointment with Dr. Bridget Brady with Southwest Bariatric in Austin, Texas for August 21st. Any advice on what to expect in this first appointment?

Thank you! your reply seems to confirm the impression I had. I did Southwest's online seminar several days before the one I attended, then I saw the seminar I attended. I faxed in all the paperwork from their website and I am now awaiting reply from the patient advocate.
