Mine was meeting with an old highschool boyfriend that I'd started talking to online after 20 years then him never trying to contact me once after I couldn't fit into the booth at the restraunt. It really hurt. It wasn't even a romantic thing. We were both happily married with kids but it was like he thought I was too fat to even be friends with. I know, I know I don't need those kinds of friends and I was the one that broke up with him in HS for being a jerk back then too. But it still hurt enough to give me that final push.

Are We ready for a Black President?
TheGh0st replied to TheWatcher's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I couldn't have put it better. My vote will most likely be for McCain and not Obama but I'd vote for him in a heartbeat over Hilary and would have loved to see Colin Powell run 4 years ago. -
What AGB Book(s) Do You Recommend?
TheGh0st replied to BabyNicole's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
You might try going to Lapband.com (allergan/formerly Inamed's) site and requesting one. Or ask one of your local band docs if they have a spare you can borrow/keep. I'm also interested in Ali's & O'Brien's books. Ali's sounds like it could be motivational and O'Brien has co-written multiple long term case studies on the band so his could be very incitefull on the facts/figures side. -
Shoot I'd be tempted to donate a buck but if you look this is a first time e-bayer. I would be willing to bet there is a greater chance that this is some sort of cruel joke someone is playing on him or even "us".

Last I knew Dr. Hoehn/Hitchcock at SMMC were not taking on patients they didn't band and thier fee was $150 per fill. Dr. Malley in Mission does take on other patients and his fee is $100 per fill. There is another doctor in Olathe that I know took on at least one patient that he didn't band and his fee is only $50 per fill. However, the patient he took on was banded by the doctor that taught him the procedure in Denver so I don't know if it is his common practice to take outside patients or if she was an exception. I could ask her his name if you want to check it out.

Guiding Light (US Soapopera) just started a storyline with the lapband
TheGh0st replied to TheGh0st's topic in The Lounge
For those that don't watch the show Caitlin VanZandt who plays Ashlee is one of the best actresses on the show. She is already beautiful and just shines on the screen. I have absolutely LOVED watching her character develop on the show. I am so proud of her allowing (or I almost suspect - pushing) for this storyline to be told. It would have been so easy for her to have just hid it and let everyone think she had managed to lose with Diet & Exercise alone. One of the best parts of this being a soap is that it can show some of the issues we have to face both coming to the decision to have the band as well as living with it. P.S. Caitlin - If you are lurking around LBT, I wish you nothing but the best. YOU ROCK!!! -
Exactly! Sometimes I just don't understand how insensitive others can be, especially when they have or are going through the same thing.

The next KCBandsters meeting is Monday, April 21st. at We meet from 6:45-8:45 pm in the meeting room at the Antioch Library in Merriam, KS. The library is on the corner of Shawnee Mission Parkway and Antioch just east of I-35 and Shawnee Mission Parkway. When you come into the library entrance turn right towards the library check out desk then at the desk turn left. The meeting room will be along the left wall when looking away from the desk. (Or just ask at the desk and they can point you to the right room) Hope to see you there. The docs meetings can be great and I'm really not trying to knock them. But as someone mentioned they really have started to become too large. The KCBandsters group usually has around a dozen people. Though once we had a local PS come talk and that night it was standing room only. As far as critique's go. There is a big difference between an unsolicited and embarrassing critism of someone's honesty such as 2bethinagain received, and someone trying to give an equally honest response out of a heartfelt desire to support a fellow bandster. But I don't want to sugar coat things. Some of the members of the KCBandster group are rather opinionated and are not shy to give someone a loving kick in the rear when they need it. But these same people have also had the band and have needed and received their own kicks in the backside from the rest of us on many occasion. KCBandster's isn't the end all, be all, of support groups but it does have a different feel to those run by docs and I'd love to see you guys come give us a try once if only to put some faces to your names.

I actually like Roger more than Mark and Kelly more than Ali. My DH just shakes his head every time he walks by the TV and sees Mark crying one more time. He's no macho man but he can't stand it when men cry on TV and Mark is the worst. Everyone is complaining Kelly whines too much but it didn't really bother me. But I'm still voting for him to stay as I also want one of the girls to win. I think Kelly has the best shot to win as she still has more to lose and I'd love to see the girl that started at the highest weight to win. It really bugs me that they don't cast heavier women, its like they think they would be just to "ugly" for America to want to watch. Grrrr...

I am so sorry you had a bad experience at group. Support can be so important on our journey. Sadly I don't attend the SMMC groups any longer either. But on a positive note at least you will always have us out here on LBT. Feel free to PM me if you want to talk.

Pin up Shoto Shoot??
TheGh0st replied to Boo Boo Kitty's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Sometimes I think people post a reply to the original post without checking the follow up comments. Alternately jerseygirl may have been referring to my comment about wanting to have similar photos before my breast reduction. But like you I want to give my DH a "farewell" present from the "gals". Who knows maybe I'd have them done again after my next go round of PS but if I wait to take the pics until after the girls are gone there is no going back. -
Good Luck Cheryl Ann and LOVE your Avatar! How are you liking Torchwood?

Question? I don't remember if you mentioned this before or not. Did you have to provide your own clothing? Where did you find them? -

You look ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS!!!! OK I wanted to put in the smiley's with the heart eyes and the "drooling" one but thought that was just too creepy. Everyone looks GREAT. Though if I had to pick my fav's I'd say they were the second and third in the first batch and the first of the second batch. I'm not as fond of the ones where the camera makes your hands appear to be in some of the others. But they are still awesome pics. Any chance your photographer would be willing to come to the KC area? I think I'm going to need to have some pics taken like these as well. Preferably before my breast reduction though.:purplebananna: -

Kareyquilts TT, BL, Lipo & BA
TheGh0st replied to kareyquilts's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
And I can definitely relate to the feeling wierd without it on. Its not so bad now though it still feels better with one on. I can remember though for the first month or so it almost felt like my intestines would somehow fall out if I didn't have it on. Don't get me wrong, it didn't hurt, it just felt too loose and open without it on. Hard to explain if you haven't been there. -

If you decide to go for the Spanx you can get them for a good price (NEW) on Ebay. But there are so many styles. The one I use is the Slim Cognito Mid Thigh Bodysuit. It goes all the way up to just under the bra line. The store bought ones come with little fabric loops you can hook over your bra in 4 places to keep it from rolling down. For some reason the E-Bay ones seem to be missing these but I haven't used the hooks on mine for months anyways. There is also a version of Spanks that goes from under the bra all the way down to mid-calf but I haven't tried it yet. Just waiting for the right auction to come along. -
I've heard on traveling long distances especially in an airplane some people feel tighter for a day or so afterwards. It's not really the band tightening but something to do with tissue swelling. A good indicator is if your rings feel any tighter or your ankles are a bit swollen then it goes to follow the band will feel tighter as well. Two of the docs here in KC that I know reccommend sticking to softer foods the first 24 hours after traveling just to be safe.

OT - I have a HUGE favor to ask of YOU ALL!!! :o)
TheGh0st replied to SherriWittler's topic in The Lounge
Good Luck! Just went back to vote one more time and I see the votes are closed. How long before you get the results? -
Glad to see you back. For searches I go to the advanced search link at the very top of the page. "Above and to the right of the woman with the apple" Seems to work better than the other search option.

I tend to get queezy after anethesia for some reason. Hoehn had me on some meds to help with it and it wasn't as bad as when I had my gall-bladder out a few years earlier. But yes I did experience it as well. Good Luck try to take it easy.

Can I eat steak and lobster before my first fill?
TheGh0st replied to angelface's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Each person's reaction to the band can be so different but I would say that the chances are great that you should at least be able to enjoy the lobster and most likely the steak as well. In fact Lobster is now one of my most favorite foods to order out. It's not so costly when all I can eat is one tail (if that) and a couple bites of mashed potatoes and broccoli off my hubby's plate. The only down side has been that I've actually been full enough to share some of my lobster with my 4 year old a few times and now he keeps asking if he can order lobster to! Talk about having a silver spoon in his mouth. How many preschoolers do you know that beg to order anything other than chicken fingers or hot dogs and fries, much less lobster? As everyone has mentioned just take extremely small bites, chew well and don't feel guilty about dipping it in a little butter.:tongue_smilie: -

Thanks for the bump! I've voted 4 or 5 times now but have missed a couple days. Just noticed you had your surgery at Tallgrass. I'm in the KC area and know several people that went there. Small World! Are you a member of the KCBandsters Yahoo Group?
