    popcorn....

i don't have a list yet...i have no restriction yet..so i feel like the band is pointless for me right now, i am sure that once the restriction kicks in it will be a different situation! I have eaten most things, and so far nothing bothers me at all....(actually the pain from being hungry hurts....but that is it!)

    Banded 9/10/08 dont feel port

i can feel my port...and actually i can also feel the band itself on the left side too. My port is on my right side by my ribs... the other people who i was talking with can't feel theirs either, i think it depends on how much muscle and fat that is actually at the site. I can feel everything....and no one in the meetings can. I asked the dr. about it and he said that it is because i guess i am on the smaller side (i know bmi is 40 but, i also have been going to gym for years too...so lot is muscle) Perhaps that matters?

    bandage question

i wish i had steri strips, my insisions are wide open and my dr. said that it is fine. but...i feel they are infected and he said they are fine...hmmm....
  4. excedrine is an enormos no no after lapband. i posted earlier on the same thing and my doc prescribed a med for me called butral. my dr. said that the reason for tylonal being ok is due to the fact it is similar to a blood thinner, so therefore they recommended that drug; the dr. gave me 7 refills of 190 pills at a time!!! (i only asked for 20 plls!) SO...stop the excedrine, even though that was also the only thing that stopped my headaches, it will cause an ulcer 90% of the time. (at least what my dr. said) so i stopped and he gave me this stuff@@@###
  5. So this is my third day post op, or maybe my fouth...but last night i could not sleep because of this MAJOR migraine headache. It is still with me today, it seems to go away with water, and come back with protein shake. My eyes won't stop watering, so then my nose is running, which equals a stuffed head plus headache. I took a perk. to help with the headache pain, but OOOHHHH NNNNNOOOOOOO that just seemed to make me tired...plus major pain. Is this dehydration? I am drinking when i am awake, i try everyhour on the hour, but this head ache is soo not worth this. any advice??
  6. i have been off of caffeen for 8 months now, i don't drink any soda, there have been no changes at all in the last 3 week...(except drinking more). this also may be tmi, but when i need to pass gas...GOOD LORD...does that sent my head into overdrive!! OUCH..

    Post Op Discomfort

i just got banded on friday, and there is no way possible i would go to work the next day, nor on monday. There is too much pain when twisting, plus some of the drugs they put you on, you can not go back to work. (let alone drive) The anestisia does take 48 hours to get out of your system, plus the amount of how tired you are, and the lack of breathe you will have too. The first day, i couldn't breathe more than 250 ml of air, now i am up to 750, before surgury i was doing 1700-2300 ml of just air. There was no walk and talk, dizzy, no nausia though. (oh yes there was, but once i sat i was fine)
  8. i just got banded on friday, and my dr. said every six weeks for me to go in and get fills

day 1 of my new life

i have to say...i prefere the pain i am in now...than to have them poke me with needles!!! today i feel sore.but tight.....and more tight than sore. I am on perks right now, so if i am not typeing right that is why. ok off to go watch more tv.....then walk when it is a little warmer outside!
  10. hello, i had my new best friend "squiggyband" introduced to my body yesterday. We are doing well, but there is a lot of tightness! I feel the gas inside me gurggling all my insides. I think on of the hardest parts is that the nurses kept waking me up every hour..through the night. SO...glad to be home, i got to go and sleep now..talk to all of you in a few days!

day 1 of my new life

they gave me 4 blood thinners in my stomach (one at a time through yesterday and today), profilactic in my stomach too! Then a pain killer in the arm, and 5 pain killers in the iv, i also got a painkiller in the side of my leg too. I had my blood sugar tested every 4 hours, vitals every 2 hours...good lord! I wish i was there still, because it was much easier to sleep there, but glad to be home!

day 1 of my new life

i know i am suppose to walk aroiund, but where he did the insision was right on my diaphram, and i can't walk and talk at the same time yet. My breathing is horrible right now, i am using my breathing thing...sorry don't know the name. They gave me jello, pudding, water, and apple juice. There is no restriction or anything yet, but of course i am on the liquid only for a week...i can't wait until the mushy phase!!!!!
  13. i asked here if it was ok to cheat...answer i got was no...but to my surprise i talked to my dr. and told him what i was going to eat and he was fine with it. The best answer i got was check with your dr. and that is the best i got, and i did. It is true, every doc is different!

    What should I expect tomorrow?

well from when i went, they go over the entire surgury with you, payment, blood draw, for me fainting in the office...lol. It wasn't bad, ittook about 3 hours with faininting included
  17. So..i went for my pre-op on friday (surgury on the 17). I have been on the liquid diet now for a week (some cheating, but checked with dr about it), anyway, i ended up fainting in the dr. office after they drew my blood. I know that the liquid diet isn't much, but i think it just isn't enough literally for me. Has anyone else experienced this?

    fainting on the liquid diet

i know i have a huge welt in my arm....and it is KILLING...i think when she took the 4th vial of my blood...that she poked the needle further in, because she basically got NO blood in the last vial...i think she was trying to drain my tendon or something! lol. I was so embarrased...i couldn't stop laughing, even though it wasn't funny...
  19. Lshelley21

    fainting on the liquid diet

they did take my blood pressure while i was there and it was 110/70 no i am not a diabetic....and i do completely understand post op............includeing lol egg beaters! But i am pre op still!
  20. Lshelley21

    fainting on the liquid diet

i do know i need to be on liquids for post op...that is fine, i can do a week of that, but with out needles, or whatever else caused me to do that! also i found that egg beaters have less then the Protein shakes in calories and higher protein too...
  21. Lshelley21

    fainting on the liquid diet

cheating pre op included eating chicken and salmon. I did also eat the mash potatos...i know they were not a part of it, but i still have lost 10 pounds. While in the process of faining, i saw stars, and everything went black, but they had me put my head down on the blood drawing chair, i started to sweat HORRIBELY...and out i went. I heard them call for help, i thought my eyes were open but i couldn't see a thing. They gave me water and toldme to sit for a while! After the while..i ended up driving home and i ate. I definilty want this surgury...but i also need to not faint. After that i decided that i do need to eat something else besides the liquid diet. I try not too...but i was told i could have a yogurt too....... i do eat in moderation, and the dr. knows it too....they just asked me not to eat anything from this tuesday on......that way everything i have eating will come out before then!
  22. Hey...i was wondering if anyone has any clear broth recipes. I know that miso is a clear broth (just the broth, not the rest) could i have that for my pre-op? Anyone have any good pre-op recipes????
  23. Lshelley21

    Clear Liquid Recipes...

ok...well i found a matzo ball soup...(i am not jewish, but LOVE this soup) and it has .5 g fat in it, reduced sodium, but it is a clear broth. Since on pre-op diet, perhaps i could have broth and one matzo ball...there is only 2 carbs, and 3 protein!! What do you think?

    So Many Questions

For me, being 27 i chose the band because it is less perminant. ALSO...there is no worry if i choose to have a child in the future. I feel that the band is SO much less invasive, plus you don't have many of the dumping syndrom or stuff like that.... My boss had the RNY and she lost a ton of weight...but....she also became obsessed and went really really skinny. BUT...with the band i feel there is a slower rate, your skin has a better chance of returning back to normal with some to none excess.....i think slower is better...after all...THE WEIGHT DID NOT COME ON IN ONE DAY!!!
  25. :cursing:Ok..so i haven't told my parents about the surgury because i was not ready. At 8pm tonight i get a call from my mom at work giving me a rash that i didn't tell her about it, and the dr. told her about it. Is that even legal? I thought it was confidencial? how can he tell my parents about this? i am 27 year old married woman. He just broke the medical privacy act. (he also knew i didn't tell them, and i asked him not to say anything) I just wish i could tell them in my own time, now i am going to hear about this for a long time. This is rediculous. Is this legal??????
