You and I have essentially the same stats. I also have bipolar disorder. I’m currently at 167, and I would love to get to 159… ideally 150. I’m ahead of the curve, but my loss is definitely slowing down. And I’m needing more calories to be satiated. Just wondering how realistic it is to get to 150.

How did your weight loss stop? Did you choose to go into maintenance mode, or did your body just decide you were done?

EWL = Excess Weight Loss: the difference between staring weight and ideal body weight. If your starting weight is 300, and your ideal body weight is 150, you have 150 pounds of excess weight. If you lose 75 pounds, you have lost 50% of your excess weight (% EWL). Ideal body weight calculator - https://www.mdcalc.com/calc/68/ideal-body-weight-adjusted-body-weight

After losing rapidly during my first 2 months, I stalled for almost my entire 3rd post-op month. I tried everything, and the scale didn't move. It drove me bonkers. Finally, the stall broke and I started losing at almost 2 pounds a week. Have patience and trust the process. You'll start losing again.

Sleep Apnea after surgery
maintenanceman replied to KimA-GA's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My sleep apnea disappeared completely within the first few weeks. I started at low BMI (35). I haven't slept so well in years. -
Trying to Reach Ideal Body Weight?
maintenanceman posted a topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
So, I've passed my initial 65% EWL goal, and I'm trying to figure out what my final goal should be. I know many doctors don't advise setting Ideal Body Weight (100% EWL) as the goal. Opinions? Have any of you achieved your IBW? -
Trying to Reach Ideal Body Weight?
maintenanceman replied to maintenanceman's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I reached what is statistically supposed to be my 12 month weight loss at 4.5 months. I’m losing more slowly now… about 1 to 1.5 pounds a week. So, i guess I can lose this final 25 pounds and get to IBW, but at this rate, it will take a few months. After losing so quickly, I’m impatient! -
Stalls - How many
maintenanceman replied to Candigrl1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would also monitor how many calories you are eating. It’s important to track your macros, but ultimately weight loss depends on how large your calorie deficit is. It’s easy to meet your protein, etc goals and be eating too many calories for sustained weight loss. -
Stalls - How many
maintenanceman replied to Candigrl1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I lost rapidly during the first two months and then stalled for 3+ weeks during month three, even though I was following the program well. It drove me crazy! When the stall ended, I lost 8 pounds in two weeks. I've resumed losing at a pretty good rate since then. -
Calories at 4 mo Post-Op?
maintenanceman replied to maintenanceman's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
600-800 calories? Yikes. I can't imagine. -
My hunger never really went away. It's not as strong as it was pre-op, but it is definitely there. I manage it with careful choices and mindful eating, but the promise of "no hunger" wasn't true for me.

Calories at 4 mo Post-Op?
maintenanceman replied to maintenanceman's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
I'm at 1100 to 1200, as well. The weight loss has slowed down to about 1 lb. a week, but anything less than 1100 calories and I am ravenously hungry now. -
Gold star gay here! I am very single, live in LA. 50 yo black male. Slide into my DMs if interested. LOL

I can vouch for the fact that increased size is a very happy unexpected consequence of the surgery. Response to my d pics has gone from silence to "nice." I'm hoping for "wow" by the time I reach goal weight. 😂
