Hey TX.. I am pretty surprise it was that easy with UHC as well.. but hey take what you can get right :tongue_smilie: My insurance was fairly easy as well..I work for the hospital where I had it done so the insurance they have says GO FOR IT... I only took as long as I did because I had just started there so I had to complete my 90days.. Otherwise I could have had my surgery completed prob about a month early, but it is all good. It worked out and I am well on my way to being a looser and loving every minute. As will u.. Congrats on the 20lbs.. the liquid diet is where you loose it the quickest.. If drinking the shakes did not get so old I would still be doing that, but you know you must have variety in life.. my weight loss sold down quite a bit when I hit soft foods.. I am still loosing just not as fast.. I would think it would melt off though since I barely eat my hubby and I go out and share a plate of food and we are lucky if we finish that ha ha.. It saves a lot of money for sure.. Last night we went do dinner me him and our son and only spent 15 dollars including tip at a sit down restaurant ha ha it was great..one of many things to look forward to :tt1:

TRAVEL.... speaking of dreams... when i was in my liquid phase I kept dreaming of cheerios... I wonder if someone can interpret that one ha ha Good stuff dreaming of food when you can't have it.. and here is the bigger kicker.. I COULD actually have cheerios now, but I have not ha ha

Txmike.. Lucky you only had 5 days.. I had liquids for 8 and OH MY i was so sick of Protein shakes I could not take it anymore ha ha, but I behaved and managed to make the through the full 8 days.. the very first food I had was some scrambled eggs and I could barely eat them, but they tasted SO SO good.. During my mush stage I also enjoyed tuna and soup and there were other things, but I am going to be honest I have forgotten ha ha amazing how all the weeks begin to blend together.. When I made my eggs I used the egg beaters .. they were the easiest and healthiest and I would add a piece of cheese on top and melt it now and then.. Can you tell I really lived on my eggs ha ha.. I still have them almost every morning for Breakfast. I seem to have a lot of restriction when I wake up in the mornings so eggs go in the easiest.. Did you doctor tell you if there was in Fluid in your band to start??
-

First Fill Fiasco Friday for Me (Long)
meschultz replied to Ravenesqued's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Raven.. I am sorry to hear you had a bad experience.. I have not had my first fill yet and reading all these stories makes me nervous, but the one suggestion I have for you is to asking for only your SURGEON next time.. tell them you do not want any PA's .. I know there is a learning curve, but my motto is they can learn on someone else ha ha.. Good LUCK -
What I Gained From Losing...
meschultz replied to LonghornGirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
35 Lbs down and so far I know I am gaining my life back from loosing.. each pound I gain a little bit more pride in myself.. I gain the knowledge of a future with my husband, son, and family.. I get to look forward to getting on a plane and NOT asking for a seat belt extender or getting to go to a hockey game and not worrying if my butt will fit in the seat.. again I AM GAINING MY WHOLE NEW adventureos and healthy life... -
Keep the faith.. there is still hope.. Just try to only have 3 meals a day and one healthy snack if needed.. Start exercising again.. Start off with just taking a walk.. Not only will it give you a boost, but it will give you time to think and reflect.. Will your hubby at least go for a walk with you?? If he says no then explain to him how you are feeling and tell him you need his support right now and it would really help you if he took a walk with you.. You have had 2 fills yes, but you have not hit your sweet spot yet.. When you hit it you will realize you are no longer hungry.. 1St thing is even though you are hungry.. ONLY eat 3 meals aday.. High in Protein .. do not take Snacks to work with you.. Take only enough for your food Breakfast if you dont eat befor eyou leave and then luch.. try not carrying cash.. this will keep you away from the vending machines.. Eventually you will learn to overcome the hunger and you will start being able to last longer without food.. The point of the band is to take longer for food to go through and keep you full for longer, but if you are snacking it is defeating the purpose because of course you don't feel full you are only eating small amounts at a time so it gives it time for some food to go through the band and makes room for new food to come in.. Your meals should be about a cup of food each and then the one snack... I wish you the best of luck.. Start trying this and walking to give you a boost and it might really help you .. I am keeping you in my thoughts.. keep me postedl

Hey RPF..I am really glad that you are doing well and adjusting.. I know it is going to be a shock to me when I start loosing me.. I have been over weight all my life, but not as major as I am not until after I had my son.. I put on about 120 lbs after I had him.. I dont know if it was hormone changes or what... But It sucked to gain that much.. I did put it on over 7 years so at least it was not all at once, but I am glad to be taking it back off now and I am looking forward to living a healthier life to be here for my son and hubby and self and family.. I am very thankful to Dr. Dietrick and his staff and all their help and support.. We are very lucky... You are doing great.. keep us posted on your progress. It is always good to see success Makes you feel there is a light to go to :rolleyes2:

A lot of people said they warm liquids help with the gas.. I never did warm liquids .. I was not really in the mood to eat or drink so I just drank what I had and got it down ha ha.. I think I did have broth once and it was pretty good feeling in the throat.. Glad you are doing better

crazyace... It could be a hormonal thing.. I had a hysterectomy a few years ago and ever since my face gets really red and hot at random .. I have had lab work and a bunch of fun stuff ha ha to make sure it was nothing else, but everything comes back fine.. So just have your doctor look into it.. Best of luck

My Lap Band will hold 14cc. Anyone else with that size?
meschultz replied to Melisa1's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Melisa1.. I also have the A/P large band and it is 14cc.. It is just the size of the band. Most doctors who use A/P have a choice of Small or Large the small is 10cc so there is not much difference really, but hey just means you have more room for adjustment  -
Congrats and Glad you are feeling good.. I found it easiest to roll on to my right side with my legs hanging off bed and push up with my arms.. Just make sure you use your arms do not use your abdominal muscles or you will be in a lot of pain.. They need to heal  I have a recliner, but I was told not to use it because people tend to not get up right. So I never did, but just make sure you are taking it easy and being careful.. Best wishes heal fast

Question about returning to work...
meschultz replied to drew05's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Drew.. I think it depends on the person really.. At two week post op my husband was told he could lift 20 lbs and he has not problem doing that.. I will be at my two week post op tomorrow and I am telling you if I lift 8 right now I am still kind of sore.. I usually try to lift with my right hand, but if I do slip and lift for instance a jug of milk with my left I can FOR SURE feel it.. It is not painful, but there is a different feeling there and I know I would hate to push it and lift 20 lbs next week even though technically I could.. So Just be careful and I would suggest for your job taking a minimum of 2 wks off.. P.S.. love those fruity computer :smile2: I totally own 2 and everything else made by the fruit... ha ha -
'Buyer's Remorse' - 2 Days Post Op and nauseous.
meschultz replied to a topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
.. Hi.. I hope this find you feeling better... but I wanted you to know you were not the only pumpkin :crying: who had buyers remorse  ha ha.. I had a pretty rough couple of days in my recovery time and there was a few times I cried and said to myself was this the right decision and one time I actually asked my husband if it was the right decision and he said YES.. you could not have made a better decision baby... and He was right.. I am not 12 days post op and all that other stuff is left behind me. I still have a little pain port area, but everything else has subsided at about day 10... I love being full on a cup of food.. I love that ACTUAL feeling of hunger when it hits and knowing that a cup of food will fill me up.. I love waiting up on the mornings I weigh myself and seeing that scale drop in numbers (just have not updated my ticker till I weigh on my doctors day ha ha) I love feeling better then I did 5 weeks ago. I was having problems walking my back hurt so bad and now I can walk and walk and walk just because of the 14 lbs I lost.. AMAZING what 14 lbs will do to you.. Anyways.. My point is .. Even though the first week or two weeks maybe even three can be a bit rough we just have to take it easy and know that in the long run we did this for a very good reason and it is going to help us achieve something super amazing... Make sure you are taking it easy and try to get some Protein drink in.. You need that to help you not feel hungry and some of your nausea could be because you are so hungry... You will be amazed 3oz to 5 oz will fill you up and probably help the pains.. Make sure if it gets to bad that you call your doctor you need to keep him informed at what is going on.. I would also try to back down on pain meds.. Maybe try to stretch them as long as you can.. I only too mine if I HAD too.. I would try to save it mostly for night time.. Walmart sells a liquid tylenol that I found very helpful.. Maybe have someone pick that up for you if you dont already have it.. well i will stop babbling.. I hope this finds you feeling better.. best of luck and keep us posted -
