Macpa, it totally depends on your insurance and your doctors with how long it takes you.. I work for the hospital where my surgery is being done so my insurance company does not require in major surgery pre reqs. I could have had my surgery done about a month ago, but since I am new in my job I had to wait until i had been there for 90 days to take time off.. My doctor only required us to get a physc eval, cardiac clearance and do 3 to 4 week diet plan with a nutritionist just to show us how we will be eating and to work with an exercise physiologist.. It has been a learning curve and I can tell you I am super proud of anyone that has to go through a long process. I am so impatient I would go crazy waiting. I am very thankful my process has not been to long.. Hope your process is quick and everything goes well..

Snowflake, i hope you are feeling better and sorry to hear you were having so many pains. I am preparing to have my surgery on oct 1 and hope that it goes well .. I will be having surgery on oct 1st and wednesday and have to return on monday the 6th. wish I had more time off, but I am pretty new to my job and lucky they are giving me that time off. so i am hoping for a quick and healthy recovery as I will wish for all of you

My preop diet consist of 2 protein shakes and a no carb meal for dinner.. my protein shake of choice is the Low carb chocolate slim fast. It gives you the protein you need and it gives me the chocolate fill I need ha ha.. Anyways my diet technically starts tomorrow, but I have been on it for about a week because my hubby is a week ahead of me so I was trying to be supportive during his week. I avoided as much carbs as possible in front of him.. Best of luck to every one

all surgeons are different in what they require preop.. some are much more strict then others. I personally think my doctor has a nice in even line... My pre op consist of giving up any drinks with carbonation and to drink a protein shake for breakfast and lunch and have a no carb meal for dinner. this is to help shrink the liver. the smaller the liver the lower the risk for complications during surgery. my sisters surgeon had her on an all liquid diet for the two weeks prior and that was all she could have.. so basically that is .. I go to my pre op tomorrow so I will update you on anything i might have missed. i only know the stuff i know because my husband had his pre op last week, but i was not at the whole thing so i cant be sure he told me EVERYTHING ha ha good luck

My husband is on here too and he is having his surgery on the 24th and me on oct 1st.. I am looking very forward to it.. Congrats on your success .. I hope we all have the same.. My husband has lost 15 lbs since we started the whole process.. MEN they always loose weight so much quicker.. Anyways.. I am glad you are feeling better after your surgery. I have only get like 5 days before I have to go back to work after mine. I hope it will be enough time. I just have a desk job so I figure if I can sit and watch TV at home I should be ok to sit and type. They will just need to give me frequent breaks and let me take a nap or two ha ha.. Yes the third shake is a nice option. my husband has been doing his for a week now and is doing really well on it.. I will start mine tomorrow so it is exactly 14 days. we just have to remember it will all be worth it :thumbup:

Yeah the shot sounds kind of crazy, but I do not think it will be too bad.. At least it is not 3 times a day like it used to be ha ha.. Well I hope it is all good. Keep me posted

Hey Patty. I am having my surgery at UCH also. I have my preop appt on Thursday and my surgery on OCt 1st so I am like 2 days behind you, but my husband had his pre op last week and is about a week a head of us. Basically for the next two weeks you will simply be drinking 2 Protein shakes and having a no carb dinner. take notes and ask questions at the preop appointment they give you a lot of information. I was at the visit with him for just the dietician and felt overwhelmed ha ha, but once i got home and looked at everything they gave him i felt better .. It will help for when i go to my pre op appointment I wont feel so flooded with information. Dr. D is an amazing guy and I am glad he is doing our surgeries. His staff also is great and makes you feel very comfortable to ask anything or contact them at anytime. It is comfortable knowing we are going through such a big change in our lives with such a great support system.. Did you get the info on the new location? the new office is just beautiful.. Sounds like you might also be having an allergic reaction to something.. Did you try taking some benadryl and see if it goes away?? All you can do if that does not make it go away is be up front and honest with your doctor you don't need anything that will put your life in danger. I mean I don't think a skin rash would, but I am just saying. Always keep your doctor in the loop. good luck and I hope everything turns out fine for you and your surgery

Isopure is so gross ha ha J&K... I bought one and tried it and 3 of us tried it and we all were disgusted by it .. at first it seems alright and then you have that awful after taste that NEVER wants to go away ha ha..
