Good luck! I'm so excited for you.

My life saver has been sugarfree jello. If i didnt have that i dont think i could make it through this liquid diet.

Just two days! You must be so excited. Mine is the 19th. I'm in the liquid diet and it's been hard, but I'm doing it. I have never peed so much in all my life.

Most herbal teas don't have caffeine since they are not made from tea leaves. You should check them out. I also buy rooibos tea which has no caffeine either.

I have not tried kachava, but I never was a big coffee drinker. I was a diet coke addict. 4 months ago when I started this process I was told to lay off the diet coke. I drank about 10 to 12 cans a day. It was literally the only liquid I would drink. Now I drink crystal light or herbal teas. I do allow myself one cup of regular tea in the am. I am trying to get off that too. The herbal teas are nice I think. Lemon zinger is one of my favorites. I think those are a good choice simply because of the many flavors. It is hard for me to drink straight water unless I'm super thirsty. I need flavors.

My surgery is also a week from tomorrow! Hooray. So close and yet I feel like this time is going to go so slowly. I am excited also.
-
Thanks! Good luck to you too.

I start my liquid diet today. I hope I can do this.

I am also having hernia repair with my bypass. How ridiculous that your insurance says it isn't medically necessary. I only have a medium sized hiatal hernia and I am in a lot of pain most days and have to sleep in a mostly upright position. I've seen medical journals state that the most effective way to keep the hernia from coming back is to have bypass with the hernia repair. My surgery is scheduled for the 19th. I hope you get insurance approval and can get yours done on 8/29. I saw someone post about non scale victories after the surgery and I am hoping that one of mine will be that I can bend over without throwing up!

Hello Tammy! Welcome. My surgery is scheduled for August 19th. I will be having gastric bypass along with hiatal hernia repair. I saw my surgeon for my last preop visit today. I start the liquid diet one week before my surgery. It is all getting so very real now.

Type 1 Diabetes prior to Sleeve
LibbyAbby replied to hbradford510's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I use a pump and dexcom. My endo wants me to go back to MDI before the surgery. Which makes sense, but I dread doing all that math again. My a1c was 7.8. My surgeon told me if it was 8 or higher he wouldn't do the surgery, so I'm happy I was just under. My biggest worry is going high. Anytime I'm sick or hurt, my blood sugar goes sky high and it is difficult to get it down. I've experienced DKA a couple of times and that scares me thinking about dehydration and vomiting and somehow injuring my newly sewn insides. I'm glad to hear you're doing well. Are you currently on a liquid diet? -
Welcome! My surgery is also scheduled for the 19th!

Type 1 Diabetes prior to Sleeve
LibbyAbby replied to hbradford510's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am a type 1 diabetic who is preoperative for bypass. Although you had the sleeve, I would love to hear how it went for you. I wish I could find more type 1s on thos forum. -
Is anyone else afraid they will cheat and not be able to lose weight? Not trying to be negative, but that is my biggest fear that I will go thru with surgery and then not lose weight. I just know how I have been with diets in the past so I keep thinking about what if I fail at this too.

I don't know about the other levels, but I found out my vit d is low and have started taking a supplement. Apparently is is pretty common to have low vitamin d for those living in the northern hemisphere.

Hooray. I'm scheduled for August 19th. I'm both excited and nervous at the same time.
