Good question! For the CPAP, I only started using it about 8 years ago due to weight gain. Even after sleep study in 2014 they indicated I was borderline apnea and was given CPAP to help sleep better. Doc said I could try to go off so I tried. I actually sleep with my smart watch which tracks blood oxygen, heart rate, sleep cycles and snoring. I still snore but my heart rate and blood oxygen is good. I did use my CPAP again last night to see if it affected my sleep any and I did sleep a bit better. My doc said probably another 20ish pounds and (fingers crossed) I can go off fully.

Hi all! Looks like you're all doing fairly well! I had my 8 week post op yesterday and I am down 46 lbs (from 259 to 213) and 8 BMI (44 to 36)! I've slept the last few nights without my CPAP, too! I feel absolutely great and regret nothing. Now that I am on a general diet I've had to remind myself to eat slower. A couple of times I ate too fast so the food was stuck, causing me to vomit it back up. I'd like to say that I've learned my lesson, but some habits are hard to break. Non-scale victories: Weaning off CPAP I can cross my legs (lol) I fit in the non-plus size section (woo-hoo!) Much more energy Sent from my SM-S908U1 using BariatricPal mobile app

Hi everyone! 6 week update! Since my surgery (7/12) I'm down 35 lbs and 6 BMI points! I feel a lot more satisfied now that I'm able to eat soft foods. My issue is more with the healing, and getting used to, the hiatal hernia repair. Pic on the left is the day after surgery. The other picture is of my husband and me on a date last weekend. Huge difference! NSV: reduction to BP meds, could *almost* fit a regular towel all the way around my waist I regret nothing! I feel great@ Sent from my SM-S908U1 using BariatricPal mobile app

Dry round patches on body post op.

My skin has been exceptionally dry. I think it's from dehydration, which makes sense because I'm sure I don't yet drink enough. I'm hoping that's all it is for you! -

I've been hungry too! But, at least not like before surgery. I'm down about 28# and have slowed considerably (I'm at 3.5 weeks post op). My only discomfort is my healing hiatal hernia repair. I constantly feel like something's stuck in my throat, and at times I'll get a big pain (albeit briefly) if something doesn't want to go down. I've had to occasionally sip water to help get it down. Im sure it will go away as I continue healing, but man it sucks LOL! Sent from my SM-S908U1 using BariatricPal mobile app

I've been experiencing bright red blood in my stool and after I passed gas. I'm 18 days post op and have lots of watery diarrhea still, so probably resulting from the irritation in the rectum. I'm going to give my doc a call on Monday (unless it worsens before then) but wanted to see if anyone else has experienced this. Thanks all... Sent from my SM-S908U1 using BariatricPal mobile app

@daynuhlicious Great to hear you're doing well! I'm 12 days post op and not having any real issues either, thankfully. I hear you about the diet though..I just want a Grape or some fish... something healthy but not prepackaged! I go for my first post op tomorrow and hoping for two things; 1) that I can move to soft foods and, 2) I can use my cpap again lol! Sent from my SM-S908U1 using BariatricPal mobile app

I use Baritastic because I like that it's tailored specifically to bariatric patients. It let's you add vitamin reminders, protein shake reminders, and focus on protein, carbs, sugar, and fat. I've used MFP, Sparkpeople, and other tracking apps, but they can get overwhelming when trying to put in specific nutrition goals. I also like that Baritastic is free. I've found the app on my own, and only been using for about 3 weeks but I do like it.

Day 7 po and I'm honestly feeling great! No real pain issues outside of the expected soreness from internal and external incisions. I've not had any issues so far in meeting my water intake, thankfully. I actually went to the grocery store by myself yesterday for a short trip to buy ingredients for soup. No issues at all! I made soup, and a big mess, and cleaned it up afterwards, putting away the dishes from.the dishwasher and washing the dirty dishes. Even vacuumed the kitchen (we have a lightweight stick). After all was said and done I quickly fell asleep in the recliner for about 90 minutes or so LOL! I have been taking the BariatricPal multivitamin, which is SO much easier than the other forms, plus I take additional Thiamin, B12, and C. Haven't been able to take the calcium yet because they are just too big, but I purchased some Bariatric Advantage chews that will hopefully come on a day or two. I've already lost 13 lbs since surgery; this morning I weighed in at 245.6, and my goal weight is 175. It is in sight and have zero regrets! Sent from my SM-S908U1 using BariatricPal mobile app

I've been on the full liquid diet like I should, but my daughters made a batch of tater tot coins in the air fryer and I took one. Just one. I feel guilty because I know it's not the best for my healing stomach. However, I can say that at least it was only one coin (not even a full size tot). There is only so much sweets one can handle (liquid diets are like 90% sweet and 10% broth). I don't plan on doing it again anytime soon, but wanted to know if anyone else has slipped? I have asked nicely that they don't make those foods in front of me while I'm recovering, and they agree. I clearly have more issues with food addiction than originally thought. I will continue working on that too. Sent from my SM-S908U1 using BariatricPal mobile app

Hi Kevin! My understanding is that the CPAP can put pressure on the stomach from swallowing air, but I could be wrong. I know I'm also not allowed to use straws. All I know is, as much as I hate having to use the CPAP, I can't wait to be able to use it again for a good night sleep! Sent from my SM-S908U1 using BariatricPal mobile app

Day 4 Post Op: surgery was 7/12 and I was on ice chips only until the following day when I had imaging to check for leaks. Since there were no leaks I progressed to full liquid diet. I stayed one more night and was released home on 7/14. Pain is decreasing significantly each day. I've been taking my Norco before going to bed and every so often during the day if sore. My incisions inch like crazy, which is good because it means they're healing. I did have a 100 degree fever the night I came home, but it hasn't increased and I've been monitoring it just in case. Beside the expected discomfort from the incisions, it is really a rather uneventful recovery. The only challenge so far is sleeping since I cannot use my cpap for two weeks post-op and I've been snoring like a lumber jack! But hopefully that, too, will be a thing of the past. I hope everyone else is recovering nicely! Sent from my SM-S908U1 using BariatricPal mobile app

Glad you are doing well Kevin! I weighed myself when I got home and was also up. I went in at 254 and was 258 when I got home. I attributed this to general swelling and inflammation and fluids. Sent from my SM-S908U1 using BariatricPal mobile app
