    Sushi Anyone?

Chew Chew Chew. I love sushi also, I was banded on 9/10 and have lost 35 lbs so far and I eat sushi at least once a week. Sushi is high in protien and IS good for you. I can eat about 6 pieces of a roll and I am full and more importantly satisfied. Just remember to chew well! Good Luck!!!
  3. I had my lapband surgery on Sept 10th and had my gallbladder removed on Monday October 27th. I wasn't told about the potential for having gallbladder problems after the lapband surgery. I did some research and found that this occurs most often after the gastric bypass but it can happen after lapband. They checked my gallbladder before I had the surgery and found no stones. The problem I had could not be seen by and ultrasound or a CAT scan. I had 'slug' building up in my gallbladder and it was found after a HIDA scan. It all happened very quickly. The pain started off pretty light and I thought it was my port healing then it kept on getting worse. After the 4th day I call my lapband surgeon and he suggested that I go to the emergency because it was my gallbladder. The emergency room also agreed that it probably was my gallbladder but they didn't see anything on the ultrasound and Cat scan so they told me to follow up with my doc the next day and get a HIDA scan scheduled. To make a long story short, Thurs 10/16 went to ER, Fri 10/17 went to doc, Sat 10/18 had HIDA scan, Mon 10/20 got the call from doc telling me that it needs to come out, Tues 10/21 met with the surgeon who scheduled the removal on Monday 10/27, spent a night in the hospital, which sucked, and got back home yesterday. I did a lot of research and found he gallbladder issues can be caused by fasting. I was on liquids for 3 weeks after my surgery. My surgeon said that the 'sludge' was probably already they I just irritated it more with the weight loss and fasting. I do wish I had know about this potential complication before I had the surgery but, after thinking about it, it wouldn’t have changed my decision to have the surgery in the first place. But if you’re worried about it I would defiantly have my gallbladder checked before I had the surgery. I did have mine checked but they never did the HIDA scan which showed my true issue. I am so glad you posted this thread because I was trying to look through old posts to see if anyone had the same issue.
  4. I had the same problem. I was banded on 9/10 and found myself sleeping 10-12 hours a night and took a 2 hour nap during the day. I saw my doc this week and he said my B-12 was very low. B-12 gives you energy and help metabolism. He recommend the sublingual B-12. I got mine at Wal-Mart on Thursday(2500mcgs). I took 2 and didn;t really notice a difference until yesterday, I took 2 again. Needless to say I feel very energized today and only slept 4 hours last night. Maybe 2 was too many??? I only took one today but I feel grreat!

I don't want to be that person

Flying will be much easier after some weight loss, however my weight really never stopped me from traveling. I found that Spirit was the best. They have, what they call, 'the Big Front Seat" and usually it doesn't cost much more than 50 bucks extra and sometimes it is actually cheaper than the small seats. I would recommend that maybe just before boarding ask if you can upgrade, it usually only costs about 50 dollars more. Good Luck!!!
  6. I have told everyone that I speak to; my immediate family, friends, and co-workers. I work for a very large company and have seen co-workers go out for "gallbladder" surgery and come back and lose a ton of weight. Everyone knows what really happened. I don't want to be one of those people. I am proud that I made this decision and I don't want people thinking that I am not taking this seriously. Plus, I have figured out that a lot of people are misinformed about the Lap Band and I have been able to clear their misconceptions. Also, I am taking a whole month off of work so people are going to know it is more than just a vacation. When I come back to work I look forward to sticking to my plan and knowing that everyone knows what I did and hopefully I won't slip up!!!

    Dr. Schram in Michigan

I am also being banded by Dr. Shram on Sept 10th. But I am confused, the clinic just called me today stating that they currently don;t use the Realize band but were expecting to come to a contract agreement with them soon. How were you able to get the Relaize Band??? Sherry
  8. Wow!!! I am scheduled for Sept 10 and I just recieved an approved return to work date of Oct 8th. I get a whole month off. I get to use my sick time and this was the period of time that the doctor told my company I would need. I work for a very large corporation and we have a seperate company that handles employee sick leave. They are nitorous for bringing people back to work too early, so I was really suprised when i got a month. I am just glad I'll be out of the liquid phase when I come back to work!! I wish everyone well!!! :thumbup:Sherry
