    Frustration

Have you talked to your pcp about your weight and what is healthy for you? increasing your calories with nutritional food will l help get a few more pounds on. Keep sometimes foods sometimes but feel a little freer with them until you reach a better weight.

Nov 3 I am having gastric sleeve the process varies.. insurance longer than self pay usually
  6. post op people: what did it feel like eating after surgery? puree? soft? solid? was there a sensation difference besides feeling full quickly?

The EGD was easy! My team was great for it. WHen do you think you will be having surgery?

    Food log?

I use carb master to track food (I always drink plenty of water, and that’s almost all I drink so I don’t track) and macros or the food to keep me on the low carb pre op diet

    Scheduled

Exciting! What surgery? What pre op diet?

    November Surgery Buddies!!!

I will still be in puréed foods for Thanksgiving! that bugged me a little, but I keep reminding myself that getting together is more important than what I eat! (though I may make a pumpkin pudding for myself to enjoy!)
  12. talk to your endocrinologist and listen to your instincts. it sounds like you found the cause of weight gain and it is resolving. you can always do the surgery later if you stall out!

    No weight loss

have you been measuring yourself to see if you have lost inches and maybe gained muscles? especially with that incline on the treadmill you might be creating muscle while still loosing fat

    what surprised you?

lol everyone is different… heck, i am cautious with both xylitol and caffeine… most of the time no reaction, but sometimes it hits right and, ahem, works quite well at lightening the load
  15. KimA-GA

    Awful doctor experience

Get a different surgeon. This one isn’t worth it
  16. KimA-GA

    what surprised you?

a person i know uses xylitol based gummy bears to break constipation. gastric “side effects” happen with overconsumption of some sugar alcohols (a couple spoonfuls of the sweetener may work too)… the body can’t process it for energy so no calorie issues
  17. surgery date of Nov 3 2022 is fast approaching!  can’t wait for this new chapter to begin

Good luck dear!! Looks like you’ve come a long way!

my surgery is scheduled in just three more days and I’m so excited! You keep on keeping on sis and don’t forget when doing your two week pre op liquid diet, to just handle it one day at a time - it will pass - and it is so so important to really stick with it!

    A1C levels?

my dad is a LADA diabetic and they have done surgery (non bariatric) on him as long as it was under 8.
  19. KimA-GA

    what surprised you?

i am a lot like you… i have read so many firsthand accounts, medical research papers, clinical study results, forums etc etc …. still paranoid that i am missing something but that’s going to cause me issues or mental distress

6 weeks post op ZERO WEIGHT LOSS AND DEPRESSED

i hate to ask, but since it was Mexico and they rushed you out… can you get an endoscopy to make sure that they did the correct procedure? a cup seems like a lot only a couple weeks out from surgery (i am pre op so don’t know from actual experience just reading up on it) … i have heard of issues with dental work in mexico not being as described- i would fear the same with surgery… also, from my experience maybe you need to look at macros… i reduced calorie count but didn’t really start big weight changes until i went low carb. it did not change my calorie count much (around 500 less) but severely reducing carbs made weight start to fall off… (41 lbs in 7 months just calories, 36 lbs in less than 10 weeks of carb watching)… different diets work with different body styles, and that may be something to consider and discuss with your nutritionalist. glad you are having doctors help you figure it out. please let us know when you have updates…
  21. thank you to everyone sharing experiences. i hope one week is enough for me!! I plan on taking a solid week off and then part time for two weeks. a bit nervous about the after surgery recovery. i have a desk job but do field work too and will be up and down helping the public within the office. has the potential of being tiring. will have to play it by ear and be ok if i have to take off additional time.
  22. Congrats on the weight loss! You have done amazing! I am pre op and just starting to see skin issues due to pre op weight loss, so no in your boat yet. I have used bike shorts or compression shorts for years to help with my tummy during exercises. I have bought through Amazon and woman within. Also going to get some compression sleeves (Amazon has them for about $10) because I have massive arm fat that’s starting to dangle and will probably get in the way soon. There are also some zip front full bras made for exercise that look like it may tame the side breast skin and fat that I have starting to be floppy. Don’t have any specific brands but I try to look through reviews on Amazon before buying.

    Pre-op Diet Gut Rot?

Haven’t heard of that. Maybe have a sensitivity to something you are eating?
  24. I am a high BMI girl (over 60 ) but have changed my diet, worked on eating disorders and just tried to change my life this year. Been doing pre op keto diet since late august waiting on my surgery date. Down 70 lbs this year so yay there.. My NSV was my wardrobe changes! i was buying mostly size 34 shirts ( a few bigger). I saw a shirt on amazon that i liked that was biggest at size 28. I ordered it for “later” after surgery- but as a lark i tried it on and it fit quite well!! I wore it yesterday and got asked for the first time if I had lost weight. Guess clothes that fit make a difference;) I went and ordered four more size 28 shirts. If they fit too, I am going to purge most of those size 34 and higher and never look back! I am trying to get below 60 BMI for surgery (somewhat a stall right now, but that’s ok - i am staying steady) but I am really enjoying this victory!!!
