    Lap Band Slipped!!

I am a slip survivor and would gladly opt for the sleeve if I slipped again. Mimi

Cash Fees Not Covered by Insurance

I totally agree, find another surgeon...that amount of money is highway robbery and as the prior poster stated there are many that don't charge that program fee. Don't be shy about calling around!!! Congratulations on your decision to band. Mimi

    HELP need ideas!!!!

I make popcorn in a microwave bowl from Target especially for popcorn then use the Parkay spray on it. Some ppl can't tolerate popcorn but it is slider food for me!!! I am a night muncher, too, so I feel for you. Good luck, Mimi

    Tummy Tuck Scheduled

My midriff upsets me, too!!! I paid for a regular tummy tuck and basically had a panniculectomy...no skin off the midriff, no muscle tightening. It has been a year and a half and I am still mad!!! And I, too, have a dog ear on one hip. Seems like your PS should take care of you for your original cost...I wish I had bird dogged mine, Dr C. Brett Carlin in Columbia, SC!!! Mimi

And you are doing so well, Brenda, the weight is fallingg off!!!! Yay!!! Mimi
  9. I understand where you are coming from. Instead of just saying thank you when ppl compliment me I feel the need to tell about my band.....then I think of all the hard work I have done and am still doing and I want to kick myself. Yes, the band helped, but the work is done by US!!!!! Congratulations on your success and best wishes on the next phase...maintenance!!! Mimi

    Taking/Swallowing pills

Brenda, I think I would be OK with the capsules, whole but am afraid to try. My Cardiologist wants me on coated 81 mg Aspirin but I am afraid of having it sit in the pouch. Mimi

    Throwing up everything!

I lived through something similar and had a slip and a hiatal hernia and I believe my band was never positioned correctly. Corrective surgery (revision) has helped immensley. Good luck, Mimi

    Taking/Swallowing pills

Snoopy you are not giving accurate scientific advice. Read the literature. I know of what I post. Mimi

    Taking/Swallowing pills

Dulci, if you are taking EffexorXR caps I have good news for you....the contents are tasteless and you just open them onto a spoon or little med cup and toss them back with lots of water. Or put them on a spoon of applesauce, mashed potatoes, yogurt, etc. This is sanctioned in the literature and I have been doing it for years. Mimi

    its been 2 years.WOW

Although your weight loss is awe inspiring, what especially impresses me is how well you are doing in maintenance!!! Many of us are masters at gaining and losing.....but maintaining is the great beyond...and you are LIVING it...!! Best wishes, Mimi

I don't want to leave the house

I feel your pain and isolation. What can I say, escept that you can start working on your self esteem a little at a time as you are slowly shrinking. It is part of the journey and you are not alone. If there is anyway you can afford it, finding a Personal Trainer that will guide you, exercise with you and help you grow as time goes on would be wonderful. Mine would frequently tell me to "Embrace the changes in your body" and after a while it sunk in and I cancelled a very expensive very painful Plastic Surgery. I wish you the best, Mimi

    Maintance Phase

The only way to know is to try it...for me it didn't work...I need my band and even with it I struggle with maintenance....up 3 down 4 up 5 down 3...It is hard work and not for the faint of heart!!! Good luck, Mimi
  20. I was 15 pounds from goal and hadn't stabilized and I have to agree with your primary. I know you are eager, but I feel like you will not get your money's worth in the long run. Please make haste slowly. Empty flabby skin is unsightly and gets worse during maintenance as things shift around and resettle. Best wishes, Mimi

Ugh not another band is a "tool" person

Wow, you are sure a bitter person....your aura tells me you probably never worked the band and lie to yourself about your food intake....I can't very well wish you luck, but I do wish you peace. Mimi

    buffet bars

There is a small amount of metal in the port housing....I believe it is titanium, but I could be wrong about the metal. Mimi
  25. I am a doom and gloom queen and think you should call your surgical practice...I have some concerns about a slip or a hiatal hernia. Mimi
